Asgore is one of the most well-written characters in this game. He's had the worst time of his life, quite literally - even down to the matter that we are led to believe Asgore is evil which is an injustice to him. Yet with all the things that has gone wrong for him, he displays one of the most compassionate personalities in the entire game. That is why he is my favorite.

His wife left when he was at his most vulnerable and unstable state. This was her husband, the love of her life till do you part you know. Those were his kids that he lost too. She acted like was the only one in pain. He was also mourning AND in that state he made a bad decision. She could've stopped him. Prevented him from talking all those by talking to him. But she just left like she was the only suffering and believed that she was doing the right justifying as the only way. Yes he did do those, but when you know someone close to you especially the love of your life is about to do something stupid where there's no going back, you stop them.

And he is forced to do something he hates

I don't know why people love Sans so much. Sure, he's a witty and funny character, his backstory might be sad but look at Asgore... He lost everything.

Well you don't need theories to know that he is aware of the effect you have on time. He states that quite clearly. The fact that he knows that makes his nihilistic attitude much deeper when you look at non genocide part of the game. And the fact that despite all this he genuinely care about his brother. Despite all this, if you go to far, he still decides to stand against you. Even if he knows he has no chance to win. Even if it goes against all his nihilistic views on the world.
Like really, if you ever contemplated nihilism, seeing a character like that say something such as "I can't afford not to care anymore" actually feels quite powerful.
You might not agree but I'd say that combined with the humor and the meta humor are things that make people like this character so much.
Asgore is tragic, but he isn't self aware of the vacuity of his actions. That self awareness makes sans a phenomenal character. It's kind of the same reason people like the joker in batman for exemple.

what's weird is that this song makes me think about Undyne.
I feel like his song would be perfect for a montage of Undyne being trained over the years from Asgore's perspective. A sort of time lapse as the little girl who attacked him on a dare grows up into a woman, into a warrior, into the Captain of the Royal guard, and into a loyal friend.
That or him having flashbacks to when he, Toriel, Chara and Asriel were back together...

At 4:23 it could be undyne with frisk's soul ( frisk would have attempted the genocide run and failed ) and then undyne would eventually die in asgore's arms
This is one of my favorite versions of Asgore's theme. It is very peaceful to start, like when you first go in to meet him. It's what he wants, to be peaceful, and to have his flowers. It moves a bit more to action, as you disrupt his peace and force him to confront reality, that he needs to defeat you to lead the monsters out of the underground. People are all saying he destroys the MERCY button to stop you from leaving, and for believing that he doesn't deserve mercy. But I feel like he also destroys it to prevent himself from backing down. But all throughout, he's sad that he's going through with it, and this music captures that beautifully.
*you ask Asgore: Would you like a cup of tea?
*He nods his head solemnly.
*You make some Golden Flower tea for Asgore with the extra Undyne gave you.
*You ask Asgore: Would you like some Butterscotch-Cinnamon pie with your tea?
*Tears roll down his cheeks as he nods.

This is absolutely incredible. Where as most orchestrations of this theme follow the original verbatim, you've adapted motifs from it into an entirely new piece that reflects Asgore's character and his torment. And the percussion is used to incredible effect. It all just really makes this come alive.
Long story short, congrats on an excellent arrangement! You really deserve more subs for the consistently high quality of work you've uploaded

This piece is just stunning. It puts the whole encounter with Asgore together in one Piece. First the exposition, Frisk entering the room, seeing Asgore taking care of the Flowers. 0:43 Asgore sees Frisk and talks to him, stating that both of them know this is how it has to be. Both reluctant to fight, but everyone they know expects them to. 1:53 The Battle begins, both scouting out their opponents ability before starting with all their Power. 3:05 Frisk pleeding to Asgore, lessening his will to fight. 3:45 Frisk gains the upper Hand, but Asgore still not giving up. 4:22 Asgore is beaten, laying at the mercy of Frisk. One last blow, and it would all be over. Asgore tells Frisk, itis how it has to be. Without Asgore dead, Frisk wouldn't be able to return home. 5:20 Frisk spares Asgore. Giving him hope, showing him that they can be Happy living Underground together.
Simply amazing. Keep it up.

I feel sorry for Asgore. He lost everything. His life on the surface, his children, and his wife. When you really think about it, humans took everything he had. Even if it's just a game, it kinda makes you hate humanity a little, because you know humans will actually do it.
And i thought i was the only one that thought humans were the dumbest and cruelest aliens in the universe
I agree, humanity is viewed as a great civilization to its own people, but in the perspective of other creatures, we are horrible, evil, murderous creatures that take what they want and leave nothing for others. In truth, we are the true monsters, and that humanity of ours, the same thing we are so proud of, is an illusion that we created to justify the things we do.
The question here is, what makes you human
There are humans(the species) that are more monster than man
But that doesn't make them human(the mind set). The people of the underground were some of the most human folks I've ever seen, so what if they're covered in fur,scales, no flesh at all, ect. What the humans of that universe did to them is monstrous and what Asgore was put through would break the strongest
But his actions speak to his strength and the results, to his humanity
Well, humans only did it so that they wouldn't be genocided by a monster that stumbles across a dead person. Y'know, because that would make the monster powerful enough to start World War 3. To be honest, that would kiinnda ruin my day. I wouldn't take the risk if I were them. Humans are not evil for putting monsters undergound, only prudent.

I don't think in all of my time on UA-cam, spanning almost a decade taking into account that my older account was from 2007, I've ever had the distinct pleasure of being linked to a song (hopes and dreams) only to find your channel is a treasure cove full of things that make me want to perpetually phrase my excitement using no other words than "holy shit oh my fuck i can't even begin to jesus christ shit how the hell please take me on this table right now you dirty bastard".
I think a more polite "I love everything you've submitted so far, great job" would suffice. But I refuse to do that because you deserve to know how hard you melt my brain with your stuff. Instantly subbed, probably for life. It's crazy good.

I was actually imagining doing scenes to a fan trailer ( I mean only scenes ) in my head. I used to do video editing a long time ago based on music and this really inspired me a lot to do it again. But the scenes in my head are too high quality for my skills atm lol. Somehow I wish I didn't stop that hobby of mine a long time ago. It was so long ago that I don't even know the details to my old youtube channel anymore. Sigh if only my PC was better as well. One of the reasons I stopped is because my PC couldn't handle it. So I took on this multimedia course recently and... Oh, wow. Why am I finding myself typing my life story here? LOL. ~end story.
The problem with Undertale being a movie, or anything else really, is that the fact it's a game is integral to the story. Some of the hardest hitting moments and most important lessons and morals of Undertale can only exist because it's a game. It would still make a good story, but it wouldn't be half as impactful as the game.
How can a channel with less than 1,000 subs be THIS GOOD????

Can't believe it's been four years since this song came into being. This is still one of my favorite songs to listen to, ever. It's relaxing, yet inspiring at the same time.
Asgore always be my fav character. he is a poor person (or monsterM what I suppose to call?) that had poor decision, and he really regret about that.
So, when Frisk met him (in netral route) , he destroyed the mercy button, 'cause he think that he don't deserve mercy anymore.
That beginning accompanied with such a beautiful picture was absolutely stunning. And as I'm continuing to listen to this now, it only gets better. This is outright beautiful. Can't wait to hear more content from you in the future.
i see a lot of hate on Asgore when Asgore is a very nice guy people said he killed children he wanted to kill you but Asgore never wanted to kill he is a monster of mercy he was cross for what the humans did and declared war on the humans and would've on done the same like seriously i would've been so cross if some guys killed my son and he did it because he was angry but he calmed down after and realised his mistake but Asgore is a nice a nice guy not evil and people say they hate for no reason he just wants his family back he wanted to make his people happy he wants to see his wife he wants to see his son.

Komedli Yes. Thank you! I never understood why people were hating on asgore soo much when he trully was just a broken man..i mean, in all honesty, toriel's plan wouldn't of worked either. Think about it, they've been underground for soo long, they don't know the kinds of weapons that the surface has. If she did get the soul of a human and head up onto the surface, she would've been greeted with horrified screams and mayhem...she would've started the war between monsters and humans all over again but this time at an even greater cost. By the fifties we had nuclear weapons..could you just imagine the confusion on her face upon seeing a tank?? The military would follow her back to the mountain upon seeing her attempting to gather human souls and they would've destroyed all of the monsters..if toriel really did her plan, she would've killed every body in the underground. Pisses me off that all asgore and toriel had to do was talk about what happened..work something out between them...have another kid maybe..i mean, that doesn't make things alright but..it could've been a possibility

- Clammy he didnt even want to declare war. His people were losing hope after frisks death. He hated seeing them suffer, and even tho he didnt want to, gave them hope by declaring war on humanity. His methods may have been questionable, but he's called the broken king for a reason.
- Clammy and humans didnt kill his son. Sickness did. Frisk anyway, Asriel fused with frisks soul and passed thru the barrier to give frisks body back to the village he/she came from.

So is there ANY chance that you might release sheet music for this, even on a limited basis and/or under certain conditions, so that an actual orchestra could get the opportunity to play this? I am not the conductor, just a cellist, but I feel like if I showed this to our director, he would be interested in the possibility of playing this... (Until last spring, he did not realize that video game music was a legitimate genera for orchestras to play. We (as an orchestra) enlightened him :) and now he is much more open to the concept)
The Undertale sound track is so good as it already is, I had originally felt that almost any alterations made to it could only diminish it. When I heard this though, I was proven wrong. At first I felt that this had little in common with the original, but the more I listen to it (and I have listened to it quite a lot in the past few days) I have realized that it actually is quite faithful to the original, but it expands on it, it grows the piece, it spreads it out. It has a much more epic feel to it in parts. I don't think that it would work as a replacement in the game, but of course that is not what it is meant to do. This piece tells the story that the player is experiencing in the game purely through music.The original was meant to complement the story that already existed on its own in the game. "The Broken King" takes center stage, not merely assisting the story, but telling it on its own.
What I am trying to say is that you have accomplished what I had always assumed to be impossible: You have taken something that is virtually perfect in its own right, and changed it dramatically without diminishing it in the slightest.

It's like time had stopped, as Asgore remembered the times when his family was complete.
I like this. It makes me feel inspired to fight my social anxiety and I feel like a warrior preparing for battle. In the end, everything no longer becomes an obstacle. As if I'm in peace and enjoying my freedom that I fought for.

This is a wonderful orchestra of Asgore's Theme like if its his last battle forever and he's trying to kill Frisk, but Frisk won't die because she's full of Determination, and wants Asgore to be her friend and see that not all humans are bad.
Honestly, my favourite part of undertale was its music so I'm glad to hear orchestrated remixes

Asgore has broken many things. Not in a funny way, either. He has broken 7 souls. 1 relationship. 7 children's hopes and dreams. And another thing. His own heart. He thinks that this is ok. It has driven him to insanity. He feels like he should be a good king, and look at him. He's past the point of no return. He has stopped being the king he wants to have been. He has gone too far. He can't stop this. End him. End his never-ceasing pain, only to bring him back in a whole new light. Give him a better life. Mend the Broken King.

Great guess, but no ^^ It's just that for some reason I associate Asgore with a medieval King or something, so the first thing that popped into my mind was medieval Austria and Bavaria :P They had quite a sophisticated nobility back then :)

The armor is Regalia typical of a warrior king. The trident is implied to be a magic weapon.
He's a warrior, naturally he would wear armor and wield a weapon to defend himself.

He is quite broken, mentally, and must not have a lot of willpower left after losing two kids and a wife.
@@qaaris4280 Toriel is much weaker. Her attacks are not accurate and sloppy. Undyne said that she could not even hit Asgore, which means he can even dodge, just does not fight at full strength.

i always find myself coming back to this orchestration whenever im reading a dramatic fight in a book, and lemme tell you i can not recommend that enough. somehow, in one orchestration, you were able to hit every kind of emotion known to man and make them distilled HYPE
