  • Hi and thanks for watching my Tom Did It channel.
In this video I show you my Honda CRM250 2 stroke bike.
The bike is tired, beaten up and needs a full restoration.
    I'm excited to start!

Glad you got the CRM. These bikes are rare and the purple mk4 are even more rare in Australia being only sold in 98 and 99., so I'm told. I got the same purple CRM, I put a new piston and rings in for $110 and payed $1000 for it as the owner couldn't pay the repair bill. But I keep up easily with 400cc and 450cc 4 stroke. But back to original parts, this bike is worth a lot for a 250cc. I get offers every time someone sees it. Expensive to pay someone to fix stuff on them. Got quoted $400 at the cheapest to get my rear shock rebuilt. It's been over a year since ya posted this vid. But I know you will love the bike. Got any extra parts your willing to sell. Don't blame ya if you don't even want sell a bolt from it, I wouldn't after what I was told about them lol

Ryno, thank you for sharing this information! I was not aware of that.
It makes perfect sense as I got the bike(s) from QLD then brought it down to my place Sydney NSW.
See how the swing arm cleans up. I may try and leave the sticker on👌 it may also be covering a few scars on the aluminium😀….
      Cheers pal

I’ve been thinking for a while now, why don’t I own an XR?
To be honest, I’d probably go for the XR400, only because the 650r might be too much beast😀

Epic videos man. Just got one of these and it has had the pre mix 2 stroke oil Resevoir removed. Do you know the oil vs fuel ratio so I can pre mix mine. You mentioned 32:1 ratio in the video. Do you know if that is the correct ratio. Cheers

      @tomdidit4216  Рік тому

      Hi David.
      Thanks for your comment.
I have a couple and they are both broke (like everything else)🤣
I have done some research on this and unfortunately it seems that the plastic kit was specific to the CRM.
I have noticed that the XR400 rear fender looks similar (on my lap top screen) but I have not had chance to check the actual fitment myself. I would think it needs some major adjustments….
      Cheers

      Andy, hi
The RS has been in this state for a month now!
Long story short, continuous bad weather has stopped play (here in Australia).
I’m in the process of swapping out the original 28mm carb and installing a new VHSB34mm, but can’t get out to tune it.
      Sit tight, I’m almost there!👍👍😀
      Thanks for your comment,
      Cheers

@@tomdidit4216 Bad weather in Australia 😱 I don’t believe that haha , should come to where I am here in Burnley’UK’ our summer is like a tropical island washout haha, anyways good luck on the swap over I’m looking forward to the results as that’s my next step in the future, I’m currently in the process of waiting for my 16T front sprocket to turn up so I can swap that as your last video inspired me for a nice little change thanks for the reply pal 😁

      Hey Andy.
I know all about the British weather. I’m from the UK, South West, Bristol 😀👍
Seems you have to pick and choose the riding days.
Good to hear your changing the sprocket to a 16T. It’s a subtle change, which I think complements the bike - especially corner to corner riding👍
      Take it steady

Tom I need your advice urgently aaaahhhhhhh…. So today was the first day I’ve managed to open the bike up properly, bike was nice and warm, gave it a good blast and as I got to the bottom of my hill the bike cut out, like I’d ran out of fuel ,,, so tried starting,, struggled a few times then when it did it kept cutting out, finally got it going but on the way home it struggled and spluttered to go past 6k revs,,,, finally home,, left the bike to idle then when I revved the bike it revved normal and sounded fine like it should when revving, so turned it off tried again and it revved fine any ideas please mate? Also mad to know your actually from Bristol haha thanks mate
      Andy

      Hi Andy.
I try to stay away from fault diagnostics as there are so many possibilities and I don’t want to mislead anyone on their repairs.
Thant said, it sound like you’re on the right track. I could be the float level in the carb. I’d be cleaning the carb and checking the floats. I have made a video on that👍
      Good luck with it Andy!
      Cheers

Hi Leon. Thanks for your message.
I’m fast becoming aware that these bikes are made from complete unobtainium! As you have seen, I have 1.5 bikes in the hope I can make 1 complete bike.
I’ll be sure to post all remaining parts on my Tom DidIt Facebook page👍

There is a UK based company, UK LeisureTrail that stocks allot of CRM parts however I’ve found them nearly impossible to deal with. I must get a move on so I can sell some parts to fund the build.
