    Very impressive and well detailed PRR streamlined k4 model, the k4 class was one of the Pennsylvania railroad 's main examples of steam power operating in passenger service. The streamlined k4 locomotives have an impressive appearance and looked marvelous hauling the PRR "Broadway Limited" passenger train consists, great product review- Tom.

    5:44 You should look at an old AC Gilbert B6's boiler. It's diecast and very thin from my memory.

      Hello, the AF 0-6-0s were very good for its time, but it shared the similar limitations in diecast technology, which limits it from casting fine/thin details (such as running boards, which are very thick), just like this model.

    If there was a time machine. I would travel to the late 1930s just to see that that streamlined k4 on the Broadway limit racing the Dreyfuss hudson on the 20th century limit heading to Chicago. That would be awesome.

      You can still see it on Heron rail, sort of. I think it was Vol 2 or 3. No wait, that was the race against a Niagra
      (Pennsylvania Glory)

      Their was also a recreation of the race between the Broadway limit and the 20th century by K&L on the video of the new dreyfuss hudson for trainz

      woulda been pretty crazy. Shoot, I should have made a dreyfuss and 3768 race video before I left :(

    Great video and locomotive! I have the KI version of the second variation paint scheme. Its very simple and featureless compared to the BLI version, but its performance and appearance is fantastic!

      aye! the key version has better proportions imo, especially on the tender. Paint is also done much better imo, although ive never seen one in person. cheers!

    Nice review. I own the dark green paint version. It continues to run flawlessly.

      Curious what era you like now that you've done away with SP. I'm not a streamliner fan by any means, like most everything pre 37. Finally got my hippos' though. Hugely disappointed with BLI

      @@gonebamboo4116 Whats so disappointing about the hippos? Theyre fine models imo just a bit light and overpriced. I got cheap used ones from the paragon and paragon2 days and just swapped out the decoders for TCS ones. I like mine alot!

    Very nice review. I have one as well. I ended up putting a styrene shim to level the boiler with the tender. Also, I had an issue with paragon 3 decoder. Sent it in the BLI and they sent it back with a paragon 4 + new smoke unit. Needless to say, it’s nearly perfect. Smokes a ton too. Definitely wish some panels were thinner like you said. Either way, very nice model.

    • @trainman440
      @trainman440  Рік тому +1

      thanks! Yea the decoder was meh, mine came with a keep alive already installed in the tender...probably a preventative measure employed by BLI after people realized how bad the K4s decoders were.

  • @treniscalagincasa-scalegtr4495

    Hello, do you have any information on the composition (NCS, CMYK or other) of the DGLE color of the PRR 3768 wanting to reproduce a model? I can't find any information on the internet. There are very few color photos of the time, and I don't know if they reproduce reality. Thank you for any info, and for your video.

    • @trainman440
      @trainman440  Рік тому

      Hello, Im really sorry but I dont have that information. Did 3768 not use the same DGLE color as other PRR steam engines? Or maybe their brunswick green diesels?

    • @treniscalagincasa-scalegtr4495
      @treniscalagincasa-scalegtr4495 Рік тому

      @@trainman440 Thankyou for reply, yes, it was painted with same DGLE (I guess), but I cannot find the exact formula of it, in terms of color scale (NCS for example) to get the paint made in a color shop. I will try asking at the Railroad museum of Pennsylvania, or some of the train models companies. Some people indicate the color as the Brunswick green, which seems too much green to me, or that some yellow chrome was added to black paint; some say that to better protect the locomotive metal some copper was added to the paint, and the copper oxidation was resposible of the greenish color....

    • @trainman440
      @trainman440  Рік тому

      Maybe! Probably yea lol. There's plenty of used engines tho, which are fairly affordable. Ive seen more than one of these sell for around $200-225 before. Just be patient and look often on ebay!
