right but if you are going off road with a large cattle trailer to haul them from one place to another. Or follow Rodeo or show tours this would be a lot nicer. $216,000?????? That’s absolutely ridiculous. And that truck was $180,000. Why do they think they can charge so much for this??? Absolutely not worth it
i agree, its a medium duty truck, not a pickup truck. even though the bed is 11' long the way its laid out it would be pretty useless for hauling stuff in it.
I don't know where the line is but it would be either classified as tractor or a straight truck. From what I've heard years ago you pay extra federal taxes for tractors vs a straight truck and it has to do with flat beds and the square footage of the bed. Since he mentioned "road taxes" I think it would probably be in the tractor category. And it is in no way a "pickup".
Yank that over priced bed off, swap the rear end and you can get a M2 up to 80,000 pounds Gross Combined pretty easy. I've driven several M2 day cabs rated for 66,000 and 80,000.

If you have a 36' diesel pusher motor home it has many of the same things this truck has: a complete air suspension system - no springs, air brakes, a Cat 3208 10.4 L, 300 HP turbo diesel with capacities similar to your truck but NO DEF and no regen. One thing my motor home did not have was engine or transmission braking. I had to add that. This truck costs 4 times what I paid for my 8 year old motor home when I bought it. I first saw a truck like this at an RV show to tow a 20,000 lb 5th wheel trailer.
That’s a nice freight liner but man still Ford makes one hell of a truck when the video showed the drone footage from above the ford didn’t look that much smaller or shorter than the freightlliner now if you would even compare a f350 dually or even a f250 longbed that was lifted I’d say they’d be almost the same size from length perspective, but if you ask me I’d go with a f450 that’s the ultimate Tow rig if you ask me it’s got the Horsepower Torque payload capacity and what everyone loves about f450’s the wide spread front axle that makes it smooth as butter when turning
You mean like butter just from the refrigerator or sitting out in 80 degree weather? The ford is right for many people but this is right for many also. It will outlast the ford and will handle more depending on what the body company derates the weight as.
If you have a blowout on super singles, you have to replace a rim and tire, not just a tire. Not to mention super singles are nearly twice the price of a standard tire. Super singles are great for fleets who want to maximize fuel economy or for industries that go off road and want to keep their budd spacing clear, but they don't make sense for o/o or civilians. While I like Andra's enthusiasm and I know you all want pay checks so sponsored bits are necessary. But you need a little more transparency; as you can get a four door from everyone but Mack, and they all can be had with four wheel drive or six wheel drive from the respective factory. The M2 Business class is in the same range as International's XT chassis which the CXT was built on. KW's T300 or T370 as well as Peterbilt's 325 or 330 and Western Star's 4700 are all in the same general class of truck. And as I said in the last video, the mark up from Summit Haulers is ridiculous for the little amount of work they do to the truck. Again I know you all need paid, but nearly 90-95% of the stuff on that Freightliner came from Freightliner's factory. Summit added: the leather, the cameras, the folding rear seat the hauler bed and maybe the audio.
Can you get him the other brand trucks so he can drive them and show them? I am sure he would do a video if you have access to all the other rigs. Just message him, I would bet he answers back to test them all.
I do not think it is set up for rock crawling, it is setup to be able to go out in a field with a heavy trailer and still get out. Also if you are hauling in bad weather on the road it will help you get through.
Front tires Super Single is Aggressive. 425R 22.5. Normal Steering Truck Tire you can Slide in Light Rain Turning speed 12.5 MPH - 20KM/H. The Aggressive Tire 20MPH 30KM/H you may Slide very Little.
6 gears in a heavy hauling diesel isn’t enough. No disrespect, but I’m guessing you’ve never towed 40,000+ pounds When you pay more than what a semi costs you don’t expect a severe downgrade in drivetrain. I have a dd15 and dt12 in my truck and to be honest this truck should also. My cascadia cost less.
When your “grocery getter” diesel rev’s to 3500-4000 rpm 6 gears seems like a lot. When your heavy duty diesel has a 1200-1800 rpm power band and won’t go over 2000 you need double the gears.
No one spending 200k on a truck is spending down time fixing it themself. This isn’t a F250. A 2 speed powerglide with very wide gears is technically enough. If you don’t care about towing anything. There’s a reason class 8 trucks have 12+ gears. They are needed. Again, until you pull 40,000+ pounds with a truck that starts it’s power band at 1500 rpm and leaves it’s upper limit of its power band at 1800 rpm, you won’t understand why even 12 gears is low. Pull 50,000 pounds up a mountain then come back saying you’re happy with a 6 speed.
Also, to clarify I don’t own the truck my employer does. It’s my assigned vehicle. It’s my “dream” to buy an older one, remove one of the axel’s and put a pickup bed on it. Could be done for under $20k. Used trucks go as low as 15k and for non commercial use would still be reliable.
@22:25 mark. Please don't pull that to "test" your trailer brakes while you are driving. That is actually the air dump for the trailer. Pulling that will drop all the trailer air pressure and apply the trailer spring brakes.
Alliison is easy. But truck loaded will get stuck in 2 ways. Engine can't overcome torque converter. Second way is if it is just slick when engine can overcome torque converter it is at the point engine is at peak torque. Your tires spin and it sinks
I would like to see them put the transfer type system on back so you could turn her into Dump truck dumpster hauler, ect Not just a 5th, wheel hauler Make it REAL multi, use.
My work truck is an F-550 Supercrew with an 11ft. bed. Towing about 10k pounds I get 8-9 mpg. If this truck does as well as it claims, Ford should be embarrassed.
Apparently it’s a full time 4x4 system with what seems to be equipped with a locking center differential. Andre was mentioning that the truck is rear wheel bias and it monitors for slippage. Then you flip the lock switch, and you pretty much have the equivalent of 4 high on a part time system as he shows at 19:30.
It's actually the opposite. Super Singles offer better traction in those types of situations. You have a smaller contact patch, so there is more weight on each tire. It's the same reason that snow tires are narrow.
@@berkovichify let me correct myself, the set of super singles that I had, would hydroplane easier. May have been a terrible tread design but the smaller contact area is the reason they wear out faster. I prefer having 1 spare tire to cover all my tires incase of a blow out. They are getting better though.

Alliison is easy. But truck loaded will get stuck in 2 ways. Engine can't overcome torque converter. Second way is if it is just slick when engine can overcome torque converter it is at the point engine is at peak torque. Your tires spin and it sinks
I would like to see them put the transfer type system on back so you could turn her into Dump truck dumpster hauler, ect
Not just a 5th, wheel hauler
Make it REAL multi, use.
My work truck is an F-550 Supercrew with an 11ft. bed. Towing about 10k pounds I get 8-9 mpg. If this truck does as well as it claims, Ford should be embarrassed.
Can these be transformed to a tow truck
I never knew those came awd
NOT awd, Part time 4wd big difference! Google it
Apparently it’s a full time 4x4 system with what seems to be equipped with a locking center differential. Andre was mentioning that the truck is rear wheel bias and it monitors for slippage. Then you flip the lock switch, and you pretty much have the equivalent of 4 high on a part time system as he shows at 19:30.
Anybody know how tall Andre is?
Isn't Unimog is a bit bigger than that truck?
In some markets they sell the Mitsubishi Fuso 4wd, much more cheaper than this Freightliner, with less bells and whistles.
yeeeeh, but look at it, fuso looks like lawn enforcement truck, like those with 0 turning radius lawn mowers and 10 weed eaters for landscapers
Fuse doesn’t have the same GVWR rating either, depending on model it’s 17995#
Finally - the tire hug in a TFLT truck review we have all been waiting for. Take that corona virus
And you can hydroplane easier with super singles, as well as slide in the snow and ice.
