    His reaction time, foot work and hand to eye coordination is impeccable

      The issue with the game today is that because he isn't able to score at such a high rate and is solid in the fundamental department on the defensive end, it doesn't get into highlight reels.
      If he is able to get back to this then he once again becomes an asset to any team.

    That’s why he made the NBA defensive first team.

    I've been saying he's the best defender in the NBA last year and now he gets his recognition

      It is such a shame that he is in the situation he is in.
      He needs to improve his support staff and the messaging he is getting. Once that changes, the results should return.

    Simmons is too quick for even his own players.

      And at his height with length to match it, it makes you wonder why the focus was never beyond just setting he and embiid up with shooters.

    When he comes back I believe he should develop his game but solely focus on his defense transitioning into offense this is his strong suit this is his game perfect for him its exciting, dominant, extremely effective and something he can make his own as far as record breaking and he should only pass if necessary and if it makes sense while in transition because alot of the passes were careless and sloppy because he's to fast but he's a really dope player with immense potential that can take over the league over night and can't wait to bare witness to the phenom

      The issue I think that had the biggest impact on Simmons is the infatuation that the lead guard on the team must be able to shoot the long ball. Honestly if he can be a Draymond Green with a far more effective offensive game with all the other facets that he presents then there is no reason when healthy that he isn't All-NBA and All-Defensive. Time will tell.

    The 2020-21 season was kinda shaky but Simmons was still in the 90th percentile of players in terms of steals.

      Simmons was one of the three best defenders in the league and easily the best perimeter defender in the game.

      @@jay-bshighlightsandmixtapeagreed. It’s such bullshit that he didn’t win DPOY that season because the very next year Marcus Smart gets it over Gobert with the “perimeter defense is so much more valuable in today’s game” narrative. Yet the narrative between Gobert and Simmons was “Rim protection will always be more valuable because it’s the easiest shot in the game”. Either give the award to Gobert back to back or give it to Simmons in 2021.

    I love that little Houdini trick that Embiid and Karl used at 12:43
    "Now you see us..."
    12:58 *"Now you don't!"*

      Yeah look, I don't think two players with less of an intimidation factor to each other have ever tried to have a rivalry, but this is the world that we live in.

    it's sad he's not in defensive player of the year conversations.

    • @jay-bshighlightsandmixtape

      Honestly the big thing that always seems to hurt him no matter what is the fact that people are still overshadowing his ability on the defensive end because he becomes liable offensively. At his best, there is an easy case that he's the best perimeter defender in the game.

    Great defender, Great passer and a decent rebounder but people only want to talk about his shooting. He's a hall of Famer as is

      FACTS! Basketball isn't all about shooting, it's about being a defensive player as well.

      Can't say the man is a Hall of Famer as is, but certainly was on that trajectory. It will take a bit to get back to that from here.

      He’s definitely got hall of fame talent, just has to put it together for another good 8 or so years. Somebody as well rounded as him who is at like an A- or above on everything except shooting is a generational talent. He’s Paolo Banchero with elite defense and court vision

      People look too much on the offensive side of the ball to give anyone any credit on the defensive side of the ball when they are constantly making plays and putting in effort. It should be clear by now that he is not going to be a scoring player and that the best thing for him to do is to focus on facilitating and defending. Let him play free from there.

    His offense ruins all the highlights 😂

    • @jay-bshighlightsandmixtape
      @jay-bshighlightsandmixtape  Рік тому

      To be fair, it is mainly the lack of a jumper or free-throw conversion that hurts it. A lot of steals leaders that have a defensive-first mindset generate a fair chunk of points in transition one way or another.

      The one advantage that the Sixers did have in this time was the fact that they had both Simmons and Thybulle on the squad and could rotate them between Tatum and Brown.

    Is he poor at blocking in paint???

    • @GameChanger-xi4iy
      @GameChanger-xi4iy 4 роки тому +7

      no he's decent at 0.8 or something. He plays pg so has to stay outside more but he's so big that he easily contest anyone from 1-5

    • @vodoumyers
      @vodoumyers 3 роки тому

      If anybody's poor at blocking in the paint, it's Danny Green

    • @jay-bshighlightsandmixtape
      @jay-bshighlightsandmixtape  Рік тому

      It depends on what you are defining as blocking in the paint. As far as shot blocking for a guy who is on the perimeter all the time, he is passable. But if he was looking to just anchor the paint then he has some work to do.

  • @JustTweakin

    His passing is so overrated

    • @jay-bshighlightsandmixtape
      @jay-bshighlightsandmixtape  Рік тому +1

      The thing that I don't get with Simmons is that if he was to just play the Draymond role in running the offense from the high post, setting screens, and focusing on his defense, then he would still be in Philadelphia (IMO).

  • @voooonz4778

    He's not better than gobert after passing a dunk............

    • @jay-bshighlightsandmixtape
      @jay-bshighlightsandmixtape  Рік тому

      I don't think that Simmons was better than Gobert even before he did that. It has become a massive undoing for him which is unfortunate because he had a case as the best perimeter defender in the game when he was locked-in.
