Congratulations to ROG and La R.
An amazing team that never give up and it's hard not to like them.
As a Leinster man it's been a disappointing few years with little silverware. That is all that matters. This coaching team at Leinster has questions to answer now. What was all the kicking about... Why give these giants the opportunity to take an aimless Leinster kick back to the line at high speed...
The cards are unforgivable too...
Sexton was really missed today and we need an enforcer in that pack... Someone along the lines of Brad Thorn!!
It makes last weeks decision to diminish the importance of the league all the more galling..
Again, fair play to ROG and La R...
Well deserved...
What a fantastic interview, well done to interviewer. Great balance between the personnal, technical and cheeky 'where next ' question at the end. well done . ROG, your a legend.
Some of the best interviews of the game!
Forget all the R.O.G...bashers...He is the real deal....a master of his craft.....Never got the credit he deserve over the years..Won many games as a result of his boot and sharp mind...Con grats Ronan...you and the french team are the best in EUROPE....BRILL MATCH...BEST WISHES FOR THE FUTURE
best team won but Leinster should have gone for the drop goal but I can only deduce they were not thinking straight because of fatigue.
Byrne bottled it.
They should have kicked that late penalty. Tough position for the kick, but Byrne has slotted those from that range before.
@@powerbite92 That is the truth
And LR shouldn't have been asleep at the wheel in the opening minute or fumbled a stolen line out that led to the 2nd Leinster try. Ifs are always there, the problem, is believing only one team could've done things differently or better. It is rarely true.
I couldn't believe why they wouldn't take that late penalty shot at goal. It was very kickable.
Gutted when they made the decision.
Disappointed with leinster seconds half display, we'll brush ourselves down for next season, well done lá Rochelle
Try to play your “domestic” (if we can say so) championship seriously next time, if you want to win at least a trophy. It’s crazy to not care at all about this trophy, especially since the South Africans have come in and might win the first 2 editions they participated in !
Champion’s cup is such a difficult competition and when you have won it once in 11 years, you can’t play “all in” on it.

Such an impressive man, he's the definition of a leader, speaks with great honesty 👏
Jack Crowley will be Irelands out half in the future Byrne is average at best
Byrne choked today. It's sad. Crowley all the way.
I cannot believe there was no attempt at a drop goal.
Not w/a 60% goal kicking rate he won't be.
Welsh fan here. That was one of the best "comeback' performances I have seen. Both teams went at it "hammer & tongs" but La Rochelle played like lions! Magnificent!
2nd better. France rallying from behind against the ABs and Lomu in WC 1999 was pure epiphany.
There ara at least a 10-15% of irish spirit in that LR victory, meaning that in all cases, Ireland almost won the cup. A french bloke.
So happy for Donnacha Ryan who should have a lot more caps than he has. Great to see two Munster men do so well abroad. ROG is a legend.
This Ireland vs France rivalry that is developing is super tasty.
Well La Rochelle aren’t really a french team so no idea what you’re on about
Vive la Rochelle !!
Five out of fifteen players werent french but yes I appreciate that
@@ingalik6258 doesn’t really matter what nationality the team is it’s a French club that makes them French
@@BobH-eh8wu La Rochelle is not a French team? Go to sleep little man, 16 out of 23 players are French, there are as many French in the La Rochelle team as Irish in the Ireland team
What is so great about this interview is about family, being humble, pride etc. The way he speaks about and to the players sums it up. Putting Intrinsic values in place is what makes him such a great coach. Even having the photograph of his Mum and the person he would take when climbing Everest was moving. Well done, what a coach he has become, with a perfect balance..
Quel match fantastique.
Merci aux 2 équipes.
Merci Mr O'Gara, grâce à vous, La Rochelle est devenu une grande équipe
What Ronan O'Gara has done is incredible . He is very loyal , passionate and never a clip board merchant . He creates a family , all for each other ethos .When he played for Munster , in 2011 , he wheeled Paul Derbyshire, one of the toughest , honest and down to earth ,wigan rugby league player and Munster man , onto the platform to celebrate . Ronan never forgets and always thinks of everyone. La rochelle players played their hearts out for their club, town ,fans and coach . Ronan O'Gara has been a major contributor to the bonds within the club , town and with the supporters. Gregory Alldrite the captain , leads from the front and has a mutual respect and belief with Ronan and is empowered to make calls on the pitch . O'Gara went to all the leinster players and especially Michael Ala'alatoa after the match . He gets it .
Sure ! Vive La Rochelle 🖤 💛
Munster man here bitterly dissappointed for Leinster. Thought the gameplan would overcome those La Rochelle monsters this time. Taking some solace in the Rog and his coaching gig in line for the ireland job in the future. Well done LaR and ROG, what a game
Munster fan here as well and I was shouting for La Rochelle. I respect Leinster but I have been a ROG fan since Cork Con. Leinster have won enough for now, Munster need to catch up and if not them, then O’Gara! Great match
See you next week
Gutted as Leinister Man. ROG is an absolute jedi and all class. La Roch deserved it.
Well done Ronan you were a great player now you’re becoming a top coach , great win , enjoy the celebrations, with the team.
Ronan is a GENIUS! Merci 😊.. VIVE LA ROCHELLE 🖤💛 TWICE !! ❤
ROG not happy with some of the Leinster "fans' who attacked the team coach on the way to the game...
As munster man well done lenster you could have won it and you should have won it better luck next season you are still a champion side and great to watch .
It's been ten years of could-have, should-have....yet: nothing. Cullen doesn't win silverware, he wins quarter finals and semi's. That's all he's good for.
why should they have won it? beaten by a more powerful, savy resilent team.
Gutted, but happy to find consolation in ROG getting one large step closer to the Ireland job. Unhappy to hear him say he took note of a small portion of disrespectful leinster fans. Nothing but respect from the majority
It needs to be pointed out so that rugby doesn’t end up like football! Rugby is all about respect
What was he referring to though? What were they at like?
@@alanfinn77 Woof, that is a stretch given what Leinster fans were doing when Colombe was prone on the ground with a potentially very serious injury. Rugby values, is a BS myth.
@Alan Finn Leinster need to be less arrogant and if they lose show respect for the winners. The respect was missing on Sat .
Am I a bad person that I'm not disappointed that Leinster lost. Ronan is great. Now there's an Irish man we would all like to be.
At the end of the day Leinster had home advantage again ,and still wasn’t good enough to win a major trophy.

Leinster had a Golden Opportunity in the 77th / 78th minute to set up for a DROP GOAL. TO WIN. WHY WHY??
Instead of trying to ram over a Try. Against a massively powerful Defense.
Byrne bottled it.
I will never ever understand why Byrne didn't take the peno or set up a drop goal. He did not perform well enough and he bottled it. Better now than the world cup I suppose.

@Cenotaur1 not easily in that sense. . .but the odds were in their favor. . Ultimately the teams that wanted it more won, rightly so

If Ireland go out in the QF, how many fans will ask for ROG?

What an incredible achievement for ROG in such a short time. I love his blunt honesty about the Ireland job as well.
A fantastic rugby brain this guy has, that leinster team were billed as possibly the best club side in history, he went into there house and turned them over!!!
Things need to change this is stupid either the coach, players have hard questions to answer . plus it was silly the Leinster 18 what he did. I feel it will be lucky if they win the champions cup again. Well done la Rochelle from a Leinster fan. The club need a good hard luck at themselves after that drop goals have disappeared from leinsters game I wonder why give Cullen a contract extection if he has had 2 years with no silverware plus no champions cup since 2018.
@eirenua ireland They lost by 1 point, while playing like crap.
@eirenua ireland kick exiting was by far the worst iv seen in many years simply couldn't get out of there 22 it was shocking, pressure really got to them second half it really does feel like the team that got a better calming focused half time team talk went on to win the game. Leinster needed a better mental edge going into that second half. That's where Andy Farrell and Paul O'Connell could make the difference at international level.
@@joemoody7440 Great point, a lot of ppl panicking saying this is bad for Ireland but Farrell and PoC are better. Massive wake-up call for Ross Byrne though, he was very poor, deep all match and bottled the peno a drop goal in the last 5. Ryan exit was huge.
@@BarryHawk yea Ryan's injury really done them in alright he was possessed.. Gibson park Byrne and lowe have to take responsibility for not being able to exit on multiple occasions. It's even more frustrating because all those lads have been quality in that department all session!
Fucture irish coach well done all great match
It’s like the French Riviera in cork and limerick now, there is going to be some confusion during the World Cup, especially if Ireland are playing France, who will you guys be shouting for?, have you forgotten that you are Irish ☘️ or do you hate Leinster that much that it doesn’t matter who beats them, I’ve noticed in the comment that all of France are behind French teams, even if it’s not their own club, and they are right, the French are laughing at the paddy now just like the brits did, divide and conquer is still alive and well.
The RFU missed a trick (as usual) by not offering ROG the England job. He’s done a phenomenal job. Great match!
I doubt he'd have taken the England job, tbh. ROG is from Cork, the Rebel County...dyed-in-the-wool republican country. He'd never be able to walk those streets again!
Thought Leo spoke well considering the raw sting of that defeat, level headed, professional - true sportsmanship. Gutted for Leinster but they gave us some amazing performances this season. Congrats to ROG and the team, a comeback away like that is some achievement altogether.

Yeah, Matt Williams got it bang on. He said if Leinster don't pick up their game, then they're not going to beat La Roch. That's exactly what happened.
I'm gutted. 1 point. But I'm still a ROG fan. We missed two conversions. Fair play to ROG and La Rochelle.
what a game thanks to 2 teams .
Ronan the Great !
La ROGhelle! Magnifique!
What an impressive man.
I agree- why Leinster kept kicking unnecessarily ( Gibson-Park) instead of keeping possession.Ross Byrne won’t be fly half at the WC as can’t control the team like Sexton can. If Sexton had played it would have been different outcome but Furlong and Ryan going off didn’t help. Fair play to ROG and La Rochelle for winning but Leinster have only themselves to blame as they should have capitalised on their early lead. The big boys did it again.
Leinster must be sick of the sight of la Rochelle back to back losses in finals then saracens do them in a final leo Cullen the nearly man
3 straight losses. They also lost to them in SFs when Toulouse won it. That game cost James Ryan a Lion spot.
ROG = legend
Munster fans are genuinely so sad 😂
Munster still have a chance at some silverware. Leinster, yet again, are the best team around...until it comes time to prove it. Ten years of finals and semi finals.....one trophy to show for it.
always make it about Munster when you have nothing left to say 🔴🔴😘😘
Full respect due to Stade Rochelais unbelievable physical and mental strength shown by the players, but Irish fans cheering on Stade Rochelais over Leinster is just cynical and self-deprecating, especially before a world cup.
That's another cup to France, 11 now to Ireland's 5. Ireland can only get a maximum of 4 teams into the European cup, France get 8 every year and so do England who are 2nd with 10 wins. 18 players of the Irish squad played on an Irish team against a French team, and just because ROG was the coach, some Irish fans wanted them to be beaten for a 2nd year in a row at home in Ireland! ROG could well coach France before Ireland, if ever, and I wonder how many Irish would cheer on France over Ireland then. As an Irish fan, I'll be cheering on Munster in the URC final.
As a side note, I think ROG was ungraceful in victory claiming disrespect etc., and it only puts bad blood between him and a team full of Irish internationals and potential Ireland coaches.
2023 and you can't get the shot in focus...

Did anyone ask him about his 22, 23 and possibly 24 stones forwards……
He’s a hell of a coach anyway. Must take over from Farrell after he leaves.
He's on record saying he didn't want Ireland to beat the All Black's without him after he retired! He turned Munster down in the summer, people need to stop pretending he cares less about either team. ROG only cares about what's best for himself and that's staying in France getting paid a fortune.

@@readesiun988 bulls gave Leinster their biggest defeat in history
@@readesiun988 Lol 🤣 let’s see, there was the Bulls in the Semi of the URC last year. The Springboks took note and definitely did not loose the end of year tournament against the Irish (basically Leinster and their game plan) because of anything the Irish did (lol, they only lost because they missed all their own goal kicks). Then the Bulls repeated it this year in the URC, only with a significant thrashing this time. Munster took note, deprived the one dimensional attacking game plan by not giving them possession off the ball by inducing a bit of physicality (the reason they will have no opportunity for any silverware this year!). By now it is logical what Larochelle needed to do. After the first 15 minutes, they realised allowing them possession of the ball, is allowing them to attack. They closed the tap on that privilege and the rest is history. To be able to close that tap, the opponent only needs a little bit of “physicality”! Sorry to break the bad news to you, come the World Cup, the tap will yet again be closed for Ireland before the quarterfinals end! 😘

"I seen you out there" - the reporter speaks pigeon english.
ROG didn't like ashling o reilly 😆 😂 😅
Who’s that
This was more a tactical failure by Leinster and their coach, than a superior team (maybe performance) by La Rochelle.
Leinster overestimated the ability of La Rochelle and rested their big guns. Resulting in the big guns not being match primed and even flat, some having rested up to 4 weeks and coming back from injury.
The 2 tries were lapses from La Rochelle and after Kerbalow came back from the yellow, you could see Leinster was not applying themselves the best they can.
The fact they they could still have won it, missed conversions, not taken drop goals and a final bottling in the 78th minute notwithstanding, says it all.
In the end the Leinster coach and management bottled it. Sure, they are not on the field, but they decide who is and when.
You can get away with it normally, but not in finals.
It wasn't tactical at all. They pulled away with a 17-0 lead after 20mins. They're attitude and poise is what fcked them. They took their foot off the pedal and sat back on their arses. They kicked poorly, passed poorly and made terrible decisions. Byrne not converting the three points on offer to take the lead just shows the lack of awareness and cool heads in the Leinster set-up...which is largely the Irish set-up. We are fcked for this World Cup.
Frogs loves clovers 😀
Think he doesn't do himself any favours slagging off the fans , especially if he wants the Ireland job if the fans are against you you'll have to win alot to keep them quiet.

Good old cheque book coach.....wont be seen dead back in Munster...theyve no money. 😂
Leinster have far more financial resources than LR does. LR still have players that were in the team that played in D2 of the French league (Antonio & Botia). They have two big signings: Will Spencer and Hastoy. Players like Alldritt, Bougarit, Danty came through at LR. Other players? Like Teddy Thomas, Ruhle, Leyds, Sazy and Dulin? Are cast offs from teams that didn't want them. La Rochelle has made the most of what it has and gotten overlooked player on the cheap that have been major contributors.
For example: Colombe? Was atrocious at Racing. They let him go and that is really saying something given how poor Racing's front 5 have been. LR snapped him up and turned his career around. LR is known for that in French rugby. They don't have a massive budget. They spend well and wisely.
@@joshsmith3598 look where the money is spent you spoon. They have 60 players in the books and five of them are foreigners. La rochelle have less than 5 players that are actually from La Rochelle. Look at the coaches, Munster men. Take out botia, suetini, Skelton, Antonio, Kerr, leyds, rhule, dillane. That’s not even including the french players they have bought from over clubs. Hastoy, aldritt, Colombo, tanga, danty, Wardi and the list goes on.
I’m sorry but rugby needs to change. There’s no way that any team should be coming up against a team that’s 10-15 kilos heavier than them man for man. It’s just insanity. There’s a reason why there are divisions in combat sports. Not only is it an unfair advantage but it’s also dangerous. And every team in Europe should have the same policy of being able to field the same amount of foreign born internationals. And you can say what you want about Leinster but the majority of them are born and bred in Leinster. This is just a reoccurring theme now with french teams. They will go out and buy the biggest players they can possibly find on the market and suffocate their opposition. Their needs to be weight restrictions brought into rugby for damage limitation and for the equity of the sport. It’s alright for the french to cry about the format of the Heineken cup and get it changed but they’ll field around 10 foreign born nationals the size of elephants and just suffocate you. Absolute joke of a competition this has become. Until they change this the competition is dead. And to make it clear I congratulated Munster on beating Leinster because you can’t complain when you are beaten by a team that is roughly around the same size as you and just plays better on the day. So before you decide to jump down my throat think about what Im saying.
Peyper was a disgrace as was barnes last year. A competition run by French and English what do you expect. they gotta keep the $$$$$$$$$$.
Yes he was bad but I hate to break this to you: it favored Leinster not La Rochelle. ITV for one highlighted what Peyper was letting Leinster get away with at the break down.
@@joshsmith3598 The role of match officials and especially referees remains overbearing, and this was even truer with Jaco Peyper than Wayne Barnes a year ago, with the breakdown a war zone. But Alldritt illegally slapped the ball from Jamison Gibson-Park, when the TMO did not intervene; Jimmy O’Brien was wrongly pinged for his aerial challenge, denying Leinster a rare attacking platform in the second period. Andrew Porter having been pinged for scrummaging “on the angle”, Joel Sclavi wasn’t when helping Tawera Kerr-Barlow win a vital 67th-minute turnover before Caelan Doris was wrongly penalised when poaching for the ball as Quentin Lespiaucq Brettes dived off his feet. Cue three lineouts and penalties later (one wrongly against Ronan Kelleher when Sclavi simply fell), to the winning try and yellow card for Ronan Kelleher

two seasons in a row.....
Ireland is soooo fcked for this World Cup. Buy into the Leinster hype, win Leinster prizes: nothing. Another quarter-final debacle, incoming.
Last year in 2022 Leinster lost the exact same games at the end of the season. Christ even against the same team in the ECC. Andy Farrell took those same players and went and won a test series in NZ (fiest time ever in Pro era), all the autumn tests and then won a 6N Grand Slam. Which was almost maximum points as well. So only a completely ignorant MORON would look at a Champions Cup final and think that says anything about the World Cup lol. Cause it clearly didn't bother them last year.
Munster fans must be thrilled today to see Leinster lose. The same fans that will cheer on the same team (mostly) in September. Total bunch of hypocrites. I'll be cheering Munster next week... Why? Because I'm Irish and proud of our Irish club teams.
are you projecting your own behaviours? im a Munster fan and feel bad for Leinster. above all would like to see Irish teams be successful, obviously would love it to be Munster first :)
I dont see how this is a problem... as a Munster fan, I wanted to see La Rochelle win because of the two Munster legends, O'Gara and Donncha Ryan, and I will happily cheer on those same Leinster players in an Ireland shirt. I dont support Leinster, but I support Ireland, and I'm positive that I'm not alone on that.
Leinster fans shouldn't feel obliged to support Munster when it's against a foreign team, I would expect most Leinster fans to support Stormers in the URC final, and there's nothing wrong with that. We're rivals in the club game, but only the national side brings us together. I really don't see the problem with that
Sorry this is so long winded 🫤
aren't you great @bustertypsy

@@tommy2bago Just trying to keep the 4 provinces proud of what we have in this country. A small island. I understand provincial games, but after that we should support our country above any other. Irish rugby is what's important.
