I've been consuming Fine Scale Modeler since it started. Love your channel and reviews and tips. Unfortunately my local Barns and Noble doesn't seem to carry it. At least it wasn't on the shelf when I went earlier this week. I recently got the Vevor compressor and airbrush set and its very good and works well. Came with three air brushes one being an older Badger clone single action style, which is really good for primer. And it uses that same tankless compressor.
A big benefit to having the tank is reduced moisture in the airline. It accumulates in the tank instead. And, less pulsation at low pressure potentially affecting your airbrushing.
Great review as always. I'd live yo see your opinions or review n anything 1/16. And you are so right about being so busy...it reminds me once when I went to a "Beatles" concert! LOL! Have another great week.😊
Love my timbertech compressor. not sure if the upgraded compressor with a tank is needed. maybe if this one burns out, i'll get the one with the tank just for the heck of it! Thanks guys!!!!
I’d love to see reviews of a couple of the newer paint releases if you were so inclined. Examples: AK’s Real Color acrylic lacquers or Mig’s ATOM acrylics. Paints are such an investment I hate to break with my Tamiya acrylics without knowing a bit more. Also: AK has a new line of acrylic paint markers and a line of acrylic inks. For those, I’d just like to see them in action since I use neither currently.
You're in luck! We have a review of the AK markers here: finescale.com/product-info/kit-reviews/2024/09/workbench-review-ak-interactive-real-colors-markers-acrylic-paint-markers And we have a review of the ATOM paints later today!
Love your show. I recently took up the hobby after a 50 year hiatus. I have been building models since January. I really get frustrated with paint mixtures. Just bought first airbrush but even with hand painting I really hate, especially Taniya’s paint mixtures! Any helpful hints to help me with this problem? Maybe on you upcoming shows? Thanks. PS, I’m using Vallejo paints because they’re easier to purchase. Thanks again.
I started using MRP laquers. A little more expensive but they are airbrush ready. No thinning needed. You will always get the correct flow. I'm never going back.
Welcome back to the hobby, Joe! Paint thinning can be a bit of a bear. We've touched on it in the past, but it might be time for us to circle back around again.
I've been using the drain plug to release the pressure and let moisture out after each session. Why is it a problem to do it this way? What kind of trouble could I run into?
I'm waiting for a re-release of the Academy 1/48 CH-46e Super Stallion. They're being sold on ebay for $300-$400. I bought one for a client build but I want one for myself.
There's no single system: Paache uses ovoid brass bits, Gahleri uses a drop-in system, but I'd classify anything you have to screw in as non self-centering.
The instructions for my air compressors state to drain the air from the tank by opening the drain valve. This is the first time I ever heard not to do that. What is the reasoning for that?
If you loosen the plug with the tank under pressure, you run the risk of loosening it to much and sending the plug flying. If it has a proper valve to release the pressure, that's a different story. Then you're just turning or releasing the pressure through the valve rather then loosening the plug.
@@FineScaleModelermagazine That makes sense. My compressors have drain cocks on the bottom. I thought all compressors had those. That’s an important distinction.
Like that word yet. Y'all better listen to Tim on these compressors and draining. That word yet I have heard from drivers over 32 years and seen what happens when yet comes around..😅
Can't believe nobody's commented on this so far, but can you (@FSM) tune up your audio for future videos? It was REALLY hard to hear Aaron - too quiet and a little echoey. I noticed it on the last one, too (I believe it was the first one you made in your new location), so I figured you were still working out the kinks of the new location, but, if anything, this one was worse.
Everybody rebadges those Chinese compressors, which are copies of the original Iwata/Sparmax units. Spraygunner, NoName, Badger, Paasche, Gaahleri, VIVOHOME, Meeden etc etc. They’re all the same underneath.
I have the compressor kit with the tank. Has worked flawlessly for well over a year so far.
Like that Tamiya Panzer I kit. Thanks for video and the laughs. Oh, wait...looking forward to model basic's video. Never hurts to review.
I have the Arma 1/72 P-39, and just loved to open it up and see not only the 3 ball bearings, but a specially built piece to hold them!
Just another accolade, thanks guys(and gals)!

Our pleasure!
Great channel! I get a lot out of it!
Thanks, Michael!

Groan, wish I had time to finish my many Airacobras and one Kingcobra. Never finished the Hasegawa Q I started like 12 years ago.

It could shoot off and hurt you.

What is self centering?

Just a comment for the algorithm
