Even today this is a very powerful movie ...Charles Bronson plays against type here ...the action is very realistic ..unlike todays comic action films..
People on here complaining there is alot of bkack crush obviously don't understand what that means. It's when black levels are underexposed causing an overall loss of detail in the shadows/darker portions of the image. And this doesn't have any
very interesting video! i don't have a 4k equipment, but it's cool to see the side by sides of the differences. them having the original aspect ratio is DEF the best uprage in my mind!
My intro to this film was back in 1982 where I recorded it to VHS on the CBS Late Night Movie, and damn near wore out that tape. Call me biased, but the blu ray seems to match the color scheme I most remember from the late night television print (minus the heavy grain and scratchy soundtrack). Maybe I was expecting too much, but the Dolby Vision 4k disk I found rather underwhelming. This is one of the few disks where I prefer the original blu ray to 4k.
HD BR mostly looks better. Film grain is better retained on UHD and blood color is much more realistic on UHD. All other - resolution, tonality, saturation, contrast - better on HD.
some pics you can tell the difference, others the dark scenes look better in bluray. Either way Im sure the 4k is better. I will be getting this one eventually
Could you elaborate on how you’re taking your screenshots? Cause yours are quite often very different from other review sites. There are obvious color changes visible here for example, while other sites show little to no difference at all. Do you take actual screenshots or are you taking pictures of your TV with a camera?
I take them straight from the blu ray and straight from the 4K. You have to have equipment that can encode HDR. Which no modern processor can do now. I had an older software and processor that's able to do it, left over from my time in the industry. I have also noticed that many have downloaded from torrents Pirating the movie. Rather than taking it straight from the source material Also they manipulate the image by boosting saturation or darkening the blacks or messing with the highlights. Trying to create HDR When obviously it doesn't look quite right.
Well you have to understand that you're watching this in a compressed format so yes it will lose some fidelity in the black levels. But as far as watching it on your t v there is very very little crush if any
@@TwinFlicks no, I do understand that, and of course I'd reserve final judgement upon viewing. Hopefully it should arrive in the next few days. It was just fairly noticeable in the comparisons.
After looking at your slides the 4K UHD LOOKS GREAT.

I had the bluray and thought that looked great. Looking at this review a 4k is a must!
What an upgrade 👍

How can resolution be better? HD is 1080p UHD is 2160p it's impossible for 1080p to be better then 2160
Very cool! Cheers
great comparison! my parents love this movie

Yes we'll like I said in the review in the darker scenes you do lose some detail
Fantastic review I’m on the fence I got the Blu-ray. I want to get the 4K thanks for the info.

I hope that helps
Also since they Do not have software or processor that can encode. I've seen some take from just the bluray. Passing it off as 4K
Looks like some serious black crush on the 4k.. not unusual

Why is it $53 in Canada ?
That's crazy
@@TwinFlicks I am also interested in The Proposition , it's $ 82
Wow. That's crazy I don't know why so expensive
Everytime I order a 4k from Kino they charge $ 15 delivery to Canada ...on top of the exchange rate , lol , adds up , eh !
Just ordered Roadhouse from Vinegar...$ 62
3:50. 4K wins by a mile
Lol
@@TwinFlicks I don't know what you are laughing at, the 4K of that cap clearly has black crush. Every night scene you showed was crushed.
@@jeffstryker2419 I agree there is black crush, unfortunately, and a little print damage, but still a big upgrade
