- Associate Professor of the Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi Dr Angomcha Bimol Akoijam set the stage on fire with his fervid speech on the Manipur crisis. Akoijam was speaking at the One Voice Seminar held at Punjab University in Chandigarh on September 16, where he questioned the N Biren Singh government in Manipur and the central government for the violence continuing unabated for over months.
He also raised questions on the security scenario since villagers, farmers and students had to take up arms to protect themselves despite the presence of armed forces in the state. Along with Akoijam, the seminar witnessed the participation of several educationists and students.

As a kuki, I have been caught in this dynamic which led me to observe every development in the state. Today, I think I have found what I am looking for. Bold and clear cut analysis from a man who is caught in the confusion himself trying to join all the broken pieces in a way acceptable to all the communities. Though he still have some fringe element. Let us call it normal. Atleast he is trying to break the chain that create this confusion. Keep it up sir. I'm neither Kuki nor Meitei. To bring peace, I think first step is to bring down CM. And then only there can take further steps to restore normalcy. For this, I think all citizens including Meitei should support for resignation of the CM bcos his govt has failed and it is taking so long to bring peace.
Not all meitei oppose the resignation by the current CM. It was a political drama I guess not supported by all but by few may be from his constituency.

I think you didn’t listen to the speech delivered by professor Bimol completely. Even though i may have said kuki might have form later but we can’t deny the fact that mar, paite and some other community have already shelter here in Manipur before we merge with India. So my point here is those community should not encourage the new kuki who recently entered. Instead they have to defend and fight for their rights. Not kuki intellectual till today haven’t delivered any form of peace lectures. Instead they encourage to the violence. You need to understand as a human and as a Christian as well. There is not speech for violence in the Bible. If you are very much a believer then the comments you would be giving at the moment will be for peace. You may be living happily in your comfortable zone but there are families who are struggling in both community. And facts will stay as facts nothing can change that.

I wish we could just pause for a moment and see where are we taking the beautiful land of Manipur to.
No matter how hard and impossible it may seems, I still have faith that the basic humanity and empathy will overcome the hatred. Someday, the children will be back to school and colleges. Someday the women and men will be able to go back to what they call home and we all will be able to rebuild our villages. Someday, the farmers will sow and harvest the crops.
