This was so amazing to watch this session. Truly representing of our India. Just loved this. I am a Hindu & I have not read the Gita so far. BUT, I most definitely will now because Imtiaz has inspired me to it.
This is so amazing. Truly incredible & representing of our India. My respect for Imtiaz ji was already very high because of his incredible art. Now, after kn owing him deeper...I am just blown away by his intellect & depth.
I was always a big fan of Imtiaz Ali as an intelligent director, but today I have newfound respect for him. I am Hindu, but never read Gita myself. And I am not religious either. But I am mostly proud of Indian muslim brothers like Imtiaz Ali, for inclusiveness. When the world over people are shouting on the rooftop, my religion is the best, this video, comes as a breath of fresh air.
first of all Imitaz Sir, take a bow.. for all your creations for which you'll be remembered for generations to come..! I wish to see you and Ranbir together with more of such magical films.. which instil magic in realism..
This kind of pragmatic sharing is on only in our world india and we all lndians are proud of it.this depicts tolerance brother hood.all irrespective of whatever we are n whomsoever we are . congrats to imtiaz ali sahib.keep it up i kiss your forehead you have made india proud along with he rest around you. we all are (hindu+muslims) are rigvedic people .. n i am so proud of being a successor of them .. jai hind .. jai bharat .. plz dont break this country we can't live without each other as we all are fruits of a same tree .. use logic
Sri Krishna doesn't impose Arjuna to kill. He chides Arjuna of his lack of will to fight and He explains the inner science to Arjuna patiently. When Arjuna was ready, he took up to his bow and arrow. And if one reads the Kurukshethra war, it is full of slights and strategies at Krishna's end: such was the only option available to Him. And what was the fate of Sri Krishna at the end? The elderly man has to surrender and read Gita with all heart and follow the truth how nothing above karma..
It was a very nice discussion.... I really loved the way Imtiaz ji gave the answers.... and as he said hum sab mein kuch adhurapan hai... aur wo rehna chahiye. .life mein jo chahiye or wo mil jaye to maza khhatam ho jata hai...manzil se ziyada safar mein maza hai...
Krishna is philosopher of all time.. he wasn't a pandit or something.. he was a king, rather a philospher king. And there are few philosophers in the world who'd give their message in the form of song, or a poem.. like he did.. that's why we call his creation as Gita.. 'a song'. He was an artist in the true sense.. Gita is rhythmic verses full of insight, like shayars of this age try to do.. its non-authoritative but provides peace and purpose to one's mind especially a mind in the like of Arjun which was in the state of confusion..
@saumua_kulshreshtha maam you were awesome during the talk... Your knowledge with the topic was really helpful to drive the talk in a good manner!!! @Imtiaj_ali it shows you not only read the Gita buy also bring that to your life through your intellect... Feeling really blessed listen you n the good audiance!!! Thank you!

The most popular Geeta edition is of course the translated by the AC Vaktivedanta Prabhupada. I have 3 editions so far at my home. English, Hindi and Bengali. I have gifted these to my private tutor and girl friend also. There is nothing as good as gifting a Geeta to someone.
I appreciate the fact that Bhagavad Gita is discussed amongst a non-Hindu audience. This is how it must be. Nevertheless, here are a few suggestions. 1. Why must a discussion have a filmmaker or an artist from the Bollywood industry all the time? 2. Try hearing Gita from the Masters instead of Muslims: why? While I am not doubting the chances of a far learned Pandit in a Muslim, I have seen many misuse Gita, either by cherry picking whatever that suits them or interpolating the understanding along the Islamic lines. This is technically incorrect. Oftentimes, the actual crux is lost. And when you hear it from the right authority, you will see that they don't drag Islam or Christianity simply because the discourse has enough Bharatiya context under which it is explained. If you care for the truth, take to an objective approach of hearing it from the Pandit ... To give an example, the Kurukshethra context is brought forth to merely explain one's prarabdha (destiny) and the need to apply Dharma even in an extreme context as war. Arjuna was meant to be a warrior: no matter how emotional he gets or how justified he was, he cannot escape his destiny. And Sri Krishna was his Charioteer (meaning Guide) that helps him understand how Dhronacharya (teacher) is identified by his body, that Arjuna, Dhronacharya or Bheeshma or countless others find themselves in, given their karma and ultimately, it was the re-establishment of Dharma that Sri Krishna was sent for: the Kauravas were not Dharmic. They were subject to sam ved dhaan dhand (negotiatory tactics) that failed to a point war was inevitable. 3. Give an introduction to Gita in such a way that the crowd gets these details described above. Best wishes.
34:45 shri krishna never imposed arjuna or told him you have to kill karana..in the end shri krishna only said " i've told you all the knowledge , now you have to decide whether you want to fight or not "shri krishna only tried to remove the illusion from arjuna mind so that he can know the truth and do what is needed at the moment.

The most ignored in India but the one who has served us the most.

Dear Saumya ji. The Rig Vedic verse ‘Then even nothingness was not, nor existence’ is Not from Purusha Sukta, it’s from Nasadiya Sukta. Thanks !
Yes yes, Dhruv ji, I realized later. Apologies :(

There is very similar Khutba(Speech) by Imam Ali in the collection of his speechs in a book called Nahjul Balagah
Syed Naqi Mehdi imam Ali was the greatest man to walk in this Earth.
Sister Zainab Rizvi, Has there ever been any doubt about it. Imam Ali was not a person but a Philosophy.

No, the Prophet (PBUH) was the greatest and best man to have ever lived.
