1776 USA independence from Great Britain.
2020 Great Britain independence from E.U.
???? Return of the USSR ? not likely. EU = centralized control. It did not work for USSR. it can not work for E.U. The system's drag on the economy drives all nations down... It's not so much a political problem as it is a Mathematics problem. The Centralized Control system just does not work. It's too slow, it weakens markets, it's a drag to all businesses, and inhibits innovation and invention. E.U. could take the BREXIT as a grand opportunity to solicit new ideas from member nations - to encourage healthy dialog and CHANGE to prevent further nations from leaving.

Absolutely, the UK democrats got what they wanted, sovereignty, independence from a corrupt, anti democratic, unaccountable, declining, protectionist, mafioso organisation run by a bunch of childish, vindictive, self serving, gravy train riding, free loading parasites. Leaving was about self governance, empowering the UK to make its own decisions. It does not set in stone what those decisions must be, it's back in the hands of the UK public and not in the hands of or shackled to Brussels.

Divide and rule - that has been going on for centuries - we need a mass movement of real solidarity where we stop fighting amongst ourselves and work together to defeat the common enemy which is the corporate plutocracy which, like a growing cancer, has to be rooted out and eradicated - otherwise we are facing extinction on this planet - and then there will be nobody left to continue arguing about communism, socialism, capitalism or Neo-liberalism - and there will be nobody left to keep calling the other person a moron, or worse, when in fact we should be looking to draw the best out of each other - and this stupid political prank called Brexit has done nothing other than draw the very worst out of people - for now our country has been divided as it has never been before. I wonder what all the flag-wavers will be doing when Scotland precipitates the break up of the United Kingdom. Myopia and shortsightedness rule, OK.

Lol Farage "We are living in a functional democracy". Is it a democracy when?:
    1. The leave campaign was based on lies and unfulfillable promises.
    2. The brexit being forced through now is much different from anything promised before and even briefly after the referendum.
    3. The leavers had a very marginal majority just in time for the referendum, and according to several polls the percentage has been going down ever since.
    4. In the last election more people voted for parties supporting remaining or a second referendum than parties supporting brexit.
    5. Even if the ratio of people supporting brexit was still as high as 52:48 as at the time of the referendum, that would be close enough to realistically give a mandate for a very soft brexit, giving us access to the single market and other benefits.

I remember the glorious time of the UK in the EU - the second richest country with the future! And today? Disaster after disaster, chaos, no future, and death! What went wrong with the UK? Even the EU can not help the UK and pay the UK to recover the British economy because the British people have voted for "Please do not pay money - we do not need money - the UK has enough money and can pay the price the next 500 years! A tragedy for the UK and whole young British generations!

Why on earth did that Irish div think fishing has to be handed over for a deal? Did the EU insist on fishing Canadas waters to strike a deal?
Boris should be firm that fishing will be for the UK to decide. Access for EU fishermen is for the UK to decide, where they can fish, what they can fish and how much they can fish. It must not be sacrificed for a deal that will benefit BOTH sides. That would be madness.
3 things must be red lines for @BorisJohnson... No regulatory alignment, no LPF and no access to fishing unless and if WE decide.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying, loving, and respecting one’s own cultural heritage.
My family background goes back almost 1100 years in both England and the Republic of Ireland.
However, prior to c1100AD,...my family heritage is 100% from the European continent...73% French, and the rest an admixture of Dutch, German, Danish, Norwegian, and Italian.
Ever since I was a young kid I have felt “European” first and foremost and was so happy in 1975 that I could vote YES to join the EEC. As a youngster, I knew that a united Europe, including the UK, was the only logical way forward.
I still believe that strongly today, despite the obvious EU teething problems, etc.
Now an old, retired, geezer, who has travelled to about 100 different countries over the past 5 decades, and lived-worked in many locale around the globe...I think that the EU platform is the best human social model to date.
This is the biggest mistake Britain has made in a long time...and the next generation to come is going to look back and say “WTF have you done?”
Yes, appreciate one’s cultural heritage and all that.
However, nationalistic patriotism and insular isolationism has absolutely no place in this 21st century global village.
I am just thankful that I now hold multiple citizenships so that my overseas and EU statuses are not effected by BREXIT in any way.
I do though, feel very SAD for the young generation of Brits who will not be able to enjoy the huge travel/residence/business opportunities that I did.
    ....and for what?
Just so a bunch of right wing, flag wavers, can pretend to themselves that sovereignty actually matters in this modern international community.
It’s beyond insane, and truly unforgivable.
    Until the next time >>>

Not a majority at all...nowhere even close-to one.
Also, both Scotland and NI collectively did not vote to leave either.
The archaic, FPTP system is a farce and can never represent true democracy...only a PR electoral setup can do that.
