I'm on a mission to leave grit in the dust. Let's start talking about the actual size of the abrasives on our sanding and sharpening tools. Let's talk microns. There are too many manufacturers that are either very vague or create their own proprietary grit system and everything gets all confused.
Talking microns lets use have meaningful discussions on abrasives and force the manufactures to stay honest.
coming from your comment on Suman's video! amazing info! micron value over anything!! subbed!
Awesome, thank you!
Most interesting! Many thanks for the spreadsheet info. Vic in the UK.
Excellent information, thanks for following up with this
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent! Thank you!
Thank you for watching
Very interesting. I've never seen European Standard sand paper, nor did I know that wood workers use sanding stones, very interesting!
Hey Norm! Thanks for watching. Woodworkers use sharpening stones all the time to sharpen our tools. Everything from chisels, to plane blades, to marking knives, to just about everything else. I've actually sharpened those disposable, break-away, utility knife blades.
@@HandlebarWorkshops Most interesting, I'll have to try sharpening a utility blade, never thought of that. I have sharpening stones I used for my Buck Knife. I thought you used them to sand the wood LOL
@@normanpaterson I won't say that I've never used my sharpening stones on wood, but I will say it is not a typical use case.
You know us QA guys. We'll try whatever crazy idea pops into our heads.
grit of shapton 30000(300$) = grit of p80000(15$) = 4-5x the size of dust or thickness of fingerprint .
so it's as much expensive as it's ridiculous...you can touch it with your finger or let any dust on it nor contaminate your knife :p
[ironic mode] It's very much like a workshop where you go to sharpen a knife.
I have some data on polishing compounds for your review/incorporation on your spreadsheet. Access requested. ✌️
That's great. However, I cannot grant anyone editing access to the sheet. Feel free to send me the info in an email with links to where the info came from and I can update the list. Thanks!
Amazing content, thank you!
