  • Footage from BBC TV's Look North broadcast on 28th July.
Michael Crawford OBE has been President of The Sick Childrens Trust since 1987 and on Tuesday 28th July he made a special visit to Eckersley House to help boost our fundraising campaign.
Eckersley House has provided accommodation for the families of seriously ill children receiving treatment at St James's Hospital in Leeds for the past 16 years but that is about to change. St Jamess Hospital is moving its childrens wards to the Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) to create a paediatric Centre of Excellence. By July 2010 the majority of childrens wards will be moved to the new centre.
Sadly this means by July of next year Eckersley House will no longer be needed in its present location. So we have decided to move Eckersley House to a new site just two minutes walk from the new childrens wards at the LGI. Plus, we are increasing the facility from 16 to 22 bedrooms to help even more families in their time of need.
The Big Move to our new site at the LGI will cost £1.8million and work is scheduled to begin in December 2009 - so we really need your help to raise those vital funds!
For more information on the campaign, or to donate or get involved, please see www.sickchildrenstrust.org/big...

I am so moved by this. Mike is such a lovable person- he realy is a saint. I often compare Mike to Mr Rogers as they have unconditional love for anyone and everybody...angels are out there- and Michael is one of them.

Michael is THE best example of the perfect man, and for me personally, kinda ruined me for all men who cannot OR will not live up to those HIGH standards. Makes for a lonely life, not being able to find such a man. Whoever has his affections is a fortunate female!
