I dont even care about the tool anymore, your camera and cameraman are AMAZING. that close up around 3:18 or so was surprisingly clear and STABLE. Kudos
Very nice presentation, you've sold me on the DeWalt, all great tips on blade durability and ease of sharpening. Exactly the type of review I was searching for. Much appreciated!
I’m a retired LEO that got I to the construction game later in life. I did some “Hey You” construction work when I was in college. I have learned so much from this awesome channel. Being NC guys makes it even better.
Thank you for the great information!! I just picked up a Bosch planer and am very excited that you recommend it for more finishing work! I'm an artist, so my pieces I work with require a tool that will create a nice smooth plane when done. Thank you again!
You can get carbon steel blades for the bosch, exactly the same blades you use in the dewalt. The problem is that you have to set them every time you change the blades. The advantage of the carbide blades is that it has 2 sides (can be flipped around when dull) and has a preset height so changing blades takes a fraction of the time it takes to change carbon steel blades. You also can get a 2 blade bosch planer. A big plus with portable planers for me is the ability to switch exhaust port sides.
The carbide blades are great. I've hit steel a few times and it threw sparks. But the blades were shockingly fine. (I've never seen carbide that durable.) Plus he had the 1632 series and that one is horrible.
I dont care how much you talk. As long as it is useful and practical. And I love that Yall also work in the NC mountains. It makes your videos really relatable!!!
Makita has a brushless planer that should be hitting the US here soon since its available now in the UK. It's a beast and I'm impatiently waiting for it.
Have i ever mentioned...... I love this channel!!! Y'all keep it real. And fun. But very intelligent When it comes to carpentry. Some people frown upon cordless, but we are moving to being completely cordless on site. We are so close! I bought the brushless dewalt planer, and it does everything my old corded dewalt did, without the cord. And with much better dust collection! And run time is incredible in all honesty. Check it out sometime. I use it a ton on pressure treated as well and she just eats anything up. But with wet wood, I find myselt pulling them stringy's out still. It shoots KD Fir out like it's a new Olympic sport though. Very impressed. Thought I'd share that. Don't talk faster, talk less is awesome 😂😂😂 Thanks y'all!
Hey, thanks for the video review. I watched it last night, and then ordered one from Home Depot and picked it up today. What a great tool! Worked perfectly right out of the box. I carve spoons and make cutting boards, so I am pretty sure this will have a nice long life with me with general maintenance. Thanks Again!
Got my own DeWalt a couple weeks ago, and saw in the paperwork that you can get a complimentary vacuum port adapter from your local DeWalt dealer if it wasn’t included in the box. Much better than using tape. 😉
If you are using a corded planer the best for your rough jobs is Ryobi old model. The cip exhaust is huge and the power on the motor is enormous and the grip ? Wormdrive still , to bad I can't attach a phone here so you know what I am talking about.
I wanted to buy a DeWalt shop planer but I don’t have the room and the shavings would get all over . I am convinced now to buy the DeWalt hand planer after seeing your video . I only need it for some slabs that are glued together.
Good tips for everyone. I have a Bosch and am very careful with it replacement blades are cheap enough until you start destroying lots of them I think I paid like ten bucks for a pack of three the last time but I make them last being I am retired I would have a different choice completely on a jobsite being I never know who would need it and how careful they would be being it isn't their money people are quick to trash a piece of equipment when it's not their own I figured out a few years into business I had to become tough about my equipment my men knew better I had very little to no tolerance for my tools being jacked up.
This Bosch is also made in Europe (Hungary), whilst the DeWalt planer is manufactured in China. I understand it may not matter to many people, but it is a factor for me, maybe it will also help somebody else. Cheers
I had a cheap £60 Bosch corded plane and it was great, not as good as my cordless dewalt but one thing the Bosch had that was better was that you could switch which side the chips eject from. Why would dewalt not give us this option it makes no sense to me. Thanks for the video guys ☺
Sony makes consumer _and_ pro gear. This guy is speaking to the broad, less educated market. I'd never use a tool made for finish work to knock a hump out of a 2x4. I have a Bosch for _pretty_ and a Harbor Freight for wood butchering. But I also have olde-timey block, smoothing, jointing and jack planes, too. The line about the Makita was a little odd. Any tool will break if abused. But I also have Dad's Speedmatic circular saw ca.1947. Still runs great if a bit heavy for all-day use.
Your DeWalt planer is missing the dust tube that goes into that "odd shaped hole" then you can attach a regular shop vac I'd pick the DeWalt over the Bosch great comparison
Make longer videos and talk more. Your insights are valuable to many people, which is why you have thousands of subscribers. You need to target ten minutes as a minimum video length.
That's an older 1632 bosch...Mine has a reversible blade...In my 30 plus years as a carpenter...I've never seen a planer blade as tore up as that one...:)...Planing Rebar'd concrete? Shaving nail heads? Throwing rocks at the locked on blade?...
What he didn't mention is that Bosch also makes a PL2632K model that has two blades, dual side exhaust, and can use carbon steel blades AND the carbide. It more or less gives you the best of both worlds. I almost goofed and bought the Dewalt based on this review before realizing there are two very similar Bosch models!
My dewalt cordless planer is the best electric plane that I've had so far though I haven't tried the Mikita equivelant and I used to be big in to Mikita and not go anywhere near to dewalt until I had all my power tools stolen and wanted to get on to the flex volt platform. The only thing that I don't like about the dewalt plane is that you can't switch the sides for the chips to eject like I used to be able to on my corded Bosch plane.
I didn't even need to watch... that 1632 is HORRIBLE! The 2632 however, is a god. The carbide blades are amazing with it. Just don't use that edge guide... they suck. Make your own if you want o e at 90° or bend the ones that came with the kit.
Y Would U Build a House with a Planer !? [ Furniture A-OK ] . Learn U'r Lumber ! I Own Makita's & 25 Yr's Later the Batt is STILL There + Part's Available ! All Dewalt's Failed / 5 yr or Less . YYZ , 60 ++++ NOOB .

Been using the same Makita power planer for 25 years or more
Love it
We had one of those for the better part of a decade and sadly destroyed the cutter head and bearings in the end

My 1980 Black and Decker corded electric planer STILL functional in 2020.
Yes occasionally I hit a rare lousy hidden nail.
You guys always make informative videos that are also interesting to watch. Thanks!!
Fantastic pro/con review, hitting all the relevant points. Very practical and unbiased. Thanks Brah
This the kind of tool review that helps a lot. Real world use, expert opinion.
Wow, one of the best use case reviews I've ever watched! Please continue to make these, I am subscribing!
Nice tips from guys that know a thing or twenty about working for a living!
Fingers or no, love your attention to detail Jaime.

Back when Jamie had 10 fingers! I have the Bosch. The newer one that has a dust port that goes both ways.
Uh talk as much as you want we're listening! 😍 So informative thank you so much!

Excellent review. This helps me a lot.
You guys have a great channel. I love my Makita.
Great review! You hit the important points..bam !
As much as I use one (not very often), I use the Harbor Freight tool - about $35
Thanks guys, very informative video
Thanks guys very helpful review

really appreciate your advice and guidance
Hi,
I use the DeWalt 20v Xr cordless hand planer which has a round dust port. I just wish dewalt made a double side dust port for this hand planer.
Stanley stel630 had switch for output, worked like a charm for left handed user
Very informative!
Cameramen and couch potato coaches. Bless their hearts, gotta love 'em.
Nothing useful, just aggressive. That usually means you're hiding something.
You're disposable, son. Walk point on this patrol.
I'd like to see a jobsite shenanigans video. I know when I work with my brother nothing is out of bounds.
THANKS FOR SHARING, GREAT ADVICE
Thank you! This is useful information.
You are the only guy in the world that has that blade sharpening machine. haha. kiddi g. Nice vid..:)
Nice review.
Dewalt does have a lot of carpentry tools but Bosch and Makita seem to be really where it’s at for woodworking.
Sony makes consumer _and_ pro gear. This guy is speaking to the broad, less educated market. I'd never use a tool made for finish work to knock a hump out of a 2x4.

Love the video again gents. How about a montage of the 5, no 7, plus a couple places you use then aside from the deck video...😁
Your DeWalt planer is missing the dust tube that goes into that "odd shaped hole" then you can attach a regular shop vac I'd pick the DeWalt over the Bosch great comparison
If I am in my shop I use my Bosch being material is normally faster free when I use it jobsites were much different though.
Make longer videos and talk more. Your insights are valuable to many people, which is why you have thousands of subscribers.

I prefer shorter videos thanks. There is only so much you can say about two planers.
Great information. Thank you

Great video, Great presentation and information. Would love to see your indepth take on the makita
What about Makita? I use an 18v cordless makita planer regularly and its sweeeet.
James did you even watch the video?
Well, if you've been following the PBB channel recently, they've used a Dewalt planer exclusively.
You can get wrong on those brands. Ill gave bosch an edge csuse of parts availability in Philippines aside from that they are both solid
You ever get you the Dewalt two blade battery one ?
great video
Thank you. You’ve helped me make a decision on which one to buy. I choose Dewalt.

Hi thanks for explaining everything is cool but where can ibuy a Bosch bell thank you it's an old planer
Sir, for your opinion which is the best makita, or bosch?
Good job guys 💯💯💯
Which one is best for trimming fingernails?
Good video!
Two Dewalts and one Bosch in the truck bed. That's your answer.
the comment at the end was worth the like and subscribe. :)
very nice! hopefully there is real sharpening method
Dang Jamie still had his fingers here
Good review! TX
I like your show
Dude your camera man is a heavy breather
how about porter cable?
My wood planner is named Tyrese, give him a Steel Reserve, he'll plane his way to Texarcana
Have you ever tried Milwaukee ?
You compared the entry-level Bosch to the second tier Dewalt. The PL2632 has 2 blades.
True
You CAN sharpen carbide.
Cameraman " don't talk faster talk less " Lol 😆
What about Dewalt cordless? Is that a good machine?
That’s all I’ve used for last few years. No problems except occasionally (as mentioned in vid) chocking up when trying to plan too much in one hit
I thought advanTech subfloor wasn’t supposed to swell up?
It’s not supposed to… You are correct. But it does just a little bit if it’s really rainy
Now there's one power tool I don't have
Dewalt xr planer with a 5ah battery works wonder
#LetJamieTalk 😂
Talk less. Priceless Eric!
nice
Should be using the Milwaukee cordless.
Not J No Bosch cordless
Buy a 7 amp dewalt heavy duty hand planer and THEN tell me that makita makes a superior
I didn't even need to watch... that 1632 is HORRIBLE! The 2632 however, is a god. The carbide blades are amazing with it. Just don't use that edge guide... they suck. Make your own if you want o e at 90° or bend the ones that came with the kit.
This is not an apples to apples comparison. Bosch is their entry level tool and DeWalt is their mid level.
my harbor freight planner works just fine with the 3 year warranty it has and will out last the milwaukee and dewalt
Cheapest EinHell
Does the job just as well
I LIKE BOSCH..MY FAVORITE..BUT THE PLAINER...ITS PLANE KAKA...KAMIKAKA...NO POND INTENDED.!!!!!!!
You have planed many nails with that
Talking less? I think you were to the point is much as can be. Typical that the bosch has a better finish, as it only has 1 blade.
M:
please compare dewalt to makita!

Makita is not best
LOL, talk less?
Bosch is a garbage brand. Anything German is crap.
