All her performances are amazing
We often wonder, where are the young people we once taught and/or inspired to reach for their dreams?
I remember hearing Sarah sharing a story about her student named Charlotte. I hope they're now still friends, just as I'm friends with some of my old teachers ranging from elementary school through college, decades ago.
Such friendships are precious. They allow people to see exactly how far their lessons and encouragement had taken those with whom they've crossed paths in class.
...To quote a song we used to sing when I was in 2nd grade in 1976:
"Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver and the other's gold."
We got to hear her poetry live when she was a keynote speaker at a conference for English teachers. She's an amazing talent.
I feel very fortunate to be teaching in today's world where it is so much easier for students to stay in touch with former teachers. I teach eighth grade Humanities, and I'm impressed with how many firmer students contact me through social media to let me know how and what they're doing, or to ask me questions, or to have me read a paper they've written for a high school or college course! I've even had students write me years later to tell me how much they appreciated my class. I wish I had been able to speak to more of my old teachers. I did recently get to speak to two if my favourite high school teachers, both retired. This was at and 40 year reunion get together of about twenty-five students and a few teachers.
when I'm writing I think about living, when I'm living I'm thinking about how to write about it. I can relate :)

"I have learned to shape the words 'thank you' with my first breath each morning, my last breath each night. When the very last breath comes at least I will know I was grateful for all the places I was so sure I was not supposed to be. All the places I made it to. All the loves I held. All the words I wrote. And even if it's just for one moment, I know I will be exactly where I'm supposed to be."
My most favorite of all✨ ❤️
