This is one of my favourite RPG's because of the amount of detail and complexity has. What it lacks in story and dense lore, it's totally made up for in the environments and gameplay.

This game is played by those who truely loves it.. i also find out many many things about game by playing it many many times when it launched on ps3 and now playing it on pc everyday.
The last time I played Dragon's Dogma was on PS3, so when I found out in this video that they changed the title theme music for Dark Arisen I was deeply upset. That song was straight-up fire.
A fair amount of this is just seeing what you want to. You could pick up and throw knives in streets of rage, doesn't make it relevant to throwing knives in any other game. The fireballs are as similar as a flaming roll of TP, one explodes in a target area, the other is a lock on, charge up, multicast. There are several spots with boulder traps, not one; the bandit who would stand there representing the pusher, isn't there if you shoot the boulders before it's triggered. For a second I thought you were including the killing the leader of the Goblin attack, but another "it's a reference" And the main theme on the original was two songs, with the next release being just the thematically relevant one. Originally the first song bothered me since it seemed so out of place for the game, but before it's removal I'd gotten used to it and since I have a vanilla copy for console I can play it if I get nostalgic for some reason. Considering the setting: pop style song "The wind is pushing meEEEeeee" Or tolling string instruments, chirp of a pianio and "'Neath a faulted sky; cross loamless plains, and watered blight" Like I said, it grew on me, but it doesn't fit as well.
Still remember the feeling of pure excitement the first time I heard that og menu theme. It really added something special to the overall experience right from the get go.
I gotta be honest, I bought the game to replay it and damn did hearing that old menu theme on this video spark some nostalgia. I really wish you could alternate between them, that old one just has a really special charm to it.
There is also a guts reference with the old sword and armor treasure pile scattered across the game. The armor, helmet, and strap hanging on the sword are what he used in the first arcs.
That's so cool to watch, I love this game. I miss the old opening theme (bought the game in 2012 and got Dark Arisen expansion later) and the loading screen with Grigori eating a heart (instead of Daemon fugly face). So many good memories!
Not a single one of your so-called references made sense. They have all been done many times before. A running thrust? An egg in a nest? The goblin's appearances? Is that really the best you could do?
2:44 the current intro is not that low on volume. It's loud as hell, I always launch the game with my headset on mute. (I bought the game 2 weeks ago, have 155 hours clocked in, I reached the Duke's meeting and just drifted off doing EVERY side quest I can get my hands on, this game is a freaking master piece. I've never done this for other RPG games.)
To everyone that pointed out I was reaching comparing Dungeons and Dragons to Dragon's Dogma... I get it, it seems a far stretch. However, DnD was the first time Capcom had ever attempted an RPG with action focused combat. It would've been more accurate for me to call DD a soft spiritual successor since the creative director himself had the EXACT SAME concept when he worked on Dungeons and Dragons. But don't take my word for it... I'll the man behind Dragon's Dogma himself say it. Right here: ua-cam.com/video/8Eck6Ee5zNk/v-deo.html Also subscribe to the Crucible pls... Okay so being on my 7th playthrough I just noticed this while I was taxi'ing on the bison that you lead to gran soren; you consume significantly less stamina being grappled ontop of a creature than being grappled below hanging on it. For me I consume no stamina being ontop the bison.
Some of these tips, like throwing knives in both games, made me think you were just making any excuse to make correlation. "Look, your character breathes, just like dungeons and dragons! Look he uses a sword and wears clothes, JUST LIKE MEHRUNES AND DAGONS OH MAH GOD
speaking of references dont forget the 1st bin in aestellas general store in casadris, it holds a knife you can get in the game and a few metal hunting knives from monster hunter.
Just discovered this video and for those who didn't know, concerning the boulder at 7:50, it can also be destroyed but that applies to anywhere else you might find boulders. I destroyed it with a Longsword but i'm sure a spell could probably destroy it as well. It is pretty cool to cut the boulder in half with a well-timed downward slash though
REALLY hoping for a proper sequel or something. Such an amazing and underrated game that needs more love. Tried Monster Hunter but... it was really missing this kinda charm y'know :/
A lot of these are reaching really hard. Killing enemy for resources isn't a reference to any game, it's just standard game design. Also some attacks might look like others but unless they are super unique looking, they definitely are not references. Crows having money is actually just how crows are in real life, they collect shiny things, this is why a lot of games (dark souls included) make sure that crows always have shiny things to loot or trade. And all the D&D references are pretty generic for fantasy games and tv shows.
Sure I said it 11 years ago when the game released and I'll I had was my word. But I'll just let this guy here that worked on Dungeons and Dragons and created Dragon's Dogma say it himself... ua-cam.com/video/8Eck6Ee5zNk/v-deo.html
Should probably have mentioned that also the egg drops are exactly the same kinds, with similar effects even, as RE4/RE5. Rotten Eggs hurt you, reg eggs heal better than common grass/greenwarish (the grass is similar to green herbs also) and the gold egg is an instant full heal of everything just like those games. Only egg type missing is the brown egg.

Well... I'd say that many of your references are too far fetched and just plain outta bum. Other than that, I'm sure that some of the things you showed here will be helpful to new players.
You forgot the fact that DD is a video game, just like Tetris, which is a huge reference, and that's not all, later Monster Hunter World was released which is also a video game, so DD actually predicted the future, wild.
DD was going to be a new Monster Hunter game, that's why there are so many similarities, mining, item crafting, breaking monster parts, even some combat animations and Elder dragon animations used in the drakes/gregori but it morphed into something different like RE4 did, becoming DMC
The Pawn catching you has happened ONE TIME for me during my entier time i've played it to 100% cross 3 platforms. Anyone i know who picks/picked up DD for the first time, i told them to search for the Original Main Menu music, so they didn't miss out on how absolutely epic it is (they don't show it in this video, but look it up, it's a banger) I knew everything except for Moniker name, the Alpha killing (they were the least aggresive) I can aggre on some of the references, but all of the DnD ones seems like a stretch.
''Dragon's Dogma'' is the new version of ''Dungeons and Dragon'' CAPCOM Beat'em up... with out pay the Hasbro's copyright. ;) ''Dragon's Dogma'' = DD. And ''Dungeon& Dragons'' = D&D. Another reference: ''Dragon's Dogma'' exist in same universe with ''Warzard - Red Earth''; ''King of Dragons''; ''Magic Sword''. In ''Magic Sword'' arcade version, the player can choose be a hero (killing the last enemy) or a new villain using the Orb. The future of ''Warzard-verse'' (a alternative reality in 1999, in original japanese version) exist because THIS is the ''Bad Ending'', choosed by some players. A world with magic and monsters ever. No technology, etc. A alternative World History. The ''good ending'' cause the normal-main Capcom Universe, with ''Street Fighter & cia''. Sorry my poor english.
Yes this is true. There are even some game sounds from the capcom beat em up that also appear in dragons dogma. The rumor is that capcom wanted to make another dungeons and dragons game but could not get the license so they changed the name to dragons dogma.
Just wanted to give a heads up to everyone here, but Ryota Suzuki who was the combat director for dragons dogma is taking charge in the combat mechanics of FF16. If you look at the latest FF16 trailer, you can clearly see what looks like a strider "Skull splitter" skill in combat. My jaw dropped when I found out that the combat will be fluid like dragons dogma in ff16. Not dragons dogma 2 I know, but something to chew on until DD2 releases.
bro, no hate, except for a few things, all your references are not things people "missed", those a regular game mechanics that capcom knew they were "working" as game systems, animations are quite different, they aren't the same (Pro the pickaxe in dragons dogma and the one in monster hunter are similar? wtf?) you found out the ace attorney reference, the Who let the dogs out, they are cool, but the others, i don't think they are worth as a "things you missed" even more the game references to DnD, such an old game, i was lucky to play it as a child, but tbh the enemy design is similar just because those are called "cultural References". You made a good try, but not all the things you said in this context (in my opinion, don't be offended by that) aren't usefull to me at least.
Thank you for you input, my friend. I am well aware of the flaws in this video as I replied to many people saying I agree with what you're saying as they said the same or similar. That being said I'll be pinning a comment stating such with a link to my latest video on things missed in The Evil Within. If you have a look at that video, you'll see that based on all the feedback from this video, I applied it my The Evil Within video. I wasn't going to pin a comment but since viewers constantly saying the same thing I'll be pinning it to make sure I am grateful for everyone's criticism as it helps me to improve on future uploads. Once again, thank you.
@@CHAMPIONSCRUCIBLE happy to help man, don't worry it's costructive having discussions on what you are doing, to me too. Great job anyways, keep it up!
There's also some Sengoku Basara ones as well. The eye patch references Date Masamune and the Mystic Knight's abyssal anguish is similar to Nagamasa Azai's sword of light skill.
There was a big Capcom-D&D love affair happening at the time of Dragon's Dogma's development. It was to the point where at least one of the monster books (D&D Essentials Monster Vault) had several creatures designed by Capcom's graphic design studio. The Capcom lich is probably my favorite version of that monster.
Reaching, some of these were interesting but carrying heavy objects and mining look "similar" because carrying things and mining are carrying thing and mining. That's just not a "reference" same for gathering, we don't count them as references across the bazillion games that have any of those things in them for a reason, it's just inherent behavior based in reality being portrayed by a 3d model. Bunch of Berserk references are in the game though, which I like. You could also argue that the assassin skill where you jump on their shoulders is a Tenchu Wrath of Heaven reference but it's probably not since that's just a 'sin fantasy trope. On that note, I could use a new Tenchu game...
Everything except the main intro theme music part, I noticed. I played DD:DA every day and.night for 15 months straight - exclusively. So I didn't touch anything else. It was DD:DA & only DD:DA for 15 months. I made certain that everything was 100% complete. Nothing missed, nothing unnoticed, nothing forgotten. Love it. But I wouldn't touch it again, as there's nothing else remaining for me to do in the game. Even with character development.
And let's not forget the reference to Berserk in the original Xbox360/PS3 release of both versions with Guts and Griffith's Band of the Hawk Armors available from that merchant in the mine.
I got an original release version of it for the PS3 in 2017 when I was like 10 or 11. I played it for like 2 days and then abandoned it since I was a little too young for all the complexity at the time. I just picked it back up and am pretty addicted. Pretty damn awesome for 2012
Sorry to disappoint but "Hideo" is not a reference to Hideo Kojima, Kojima has very few if any ties to Capcom and the name is not uncommon in japan. The real reference is to a character named Hideo Shimazu from Capcoms Rival Schools series which is one of their iconic IPs.

For a second I thought you were including the killing the leader of the Goblin attack, but another "it's a reference"
And the main theme on the original was two songs, with the next release being just the thematically relevant one. Originally the first song bothered me since it seemed so out of place for the game, but before it's removal I'd gotten used to it and since I have a vanilla copy for console I can play it if I get nostalgic for some reason.
Considering the setting: pop style song "The wind is pushing meEEEeeee"
Or tolling string instruments, chirp of a pianio and "'Neath a faulted sky; cross loamless plains, and watered blight"
Like I said, it grew on me, but it doesn't fit as well.

I played it so much that dark arisen intro song where she sings is forever in my mind
*sees a normal bird's nest in a normal tree* Yeah, this is a Resident Evil 4 reference.
Talent upgrades in this game are called Augmentations, which is very clearly a Deus Ex reference, as that game also featured Augmentations.
You missed a couple of big things people also MISSED:
Dragon's Dogma is a game
Dragon's Dogma can be played
You control a caracter in Dragon's Dogma
There is also a guts reference with the old sword and armor treasure pile scattered across the game. The armor, helmet, and strap hanging on the sword are what he used in the first arcs.
PAWNS CAN CATCH YOU!?!?!! That is so wholesome
That's so cool to watch, I love this game. I miss the old opening theme (bought the game in 2012 and got Dark Arisen expansion later) and the loading screen with Grigori eating a heart (instead of Daemon fugly face). So many good memories!
Some of these are cool but most of these, a new player comes across all the time! Can’t really MISS them.
But you never live the same experience twice
Not a single one of your so-called references made sense. They have all been done many times before. A running thrust? An egg in a nest? The goblin's appearances? Is that really the best you could do?
Thanks for the tip at 6:50! That will make finding blank scrolls way easier
Good video, it did reach a lil with the end references, but a lot of really solid details I actually never noticed about one of my favorite games
Thanks for the feedback dude. I'll make sure to imrpove on future uploads :)
Right here: ua-cam.com/video/8Eck6Ee5zNk/v-deo.html

Okay so being on my 7th playthrough I just noticed this while I was taxi'ing on the bison that you lead to gran soren; you consume significantly less stamina being grappled ontop of a creature than being grappled below hanging on it. For me I consume no stamina being ontop the bison.
Wow, great spot! I wonder if this is the same with other grappled monsters!
@@Evanz111 i believe so
it's this kind of detail i fear so deeply they'll forget about in the sequel
This game is peak Garming❤️so glad I got into it recently
THE WIND IS PUSHING MEEEE
WOW THERE WAS WIND IN ANOTHER CAPCOM GAME THIS MUST BE A REFERENCE!
Some of these tips, like throwing knives in both games, made me think you were just making any excuse to make correlation. "Look, your character breathes, just like dungeons and dragons! Look he uses a sword and wears clothes, JUST LIKE MEHRUNES AND DAGONS OH MAH GOD
ua-cam.com/video/8Eck6Ee5zNk/v-deo.html
speaking of references dont forget the 1st bin in aestellas general store in casadris, it holds a knife you can get in the game and a few metal hunting knives from monster hunter.
While playing dmc5 I noticed quite a few animations that were exactly the same as in dragon's dogma, not just the blink strike
Also in the starting village, there's a sword prop that's the exact same model from Monster Hunter's basic iron sword and shield
I CAN PLAY CATCH WITH MY PAWN USING BOARS?????? This game never fail to surprises me
I think it should be an Achievement... that would be so Awesome!
REALLY hoping for a proper sequel or something. Such an amazing and underrated game that needs more love. Tried Monster Hunter but... it was really missing this kinda charm y'know :/
Looks like your prayers have been answered

0:46 DUDE I had forgotten about that game its been like 20 years and i found it because of your video THANK YOU
This game is a gem. Didn't had the time and budget to be polished
The original theme sound more emotional and feel like you will embark on a emotional adventure and will have an amazing adventure
Have you not heard it all?

@@hasmierahman7148 thank you, I was just asking 😂😂
it's very rare, but I've actually killed the lion and goat heads and had the snake controlling the body by flailing around mindlessly.
Me too. It's not rare, just focus your attacks on the Lion's head and Goat.
Man the original title soundtrack was nice😊
The original reminds me of shenmue
God i miss that WE ARE THE DANGAAAAAAAN theme
I wish we could change the main menu theme back to the original
How is this old game more Immersive than some of the most modern games
Good video, just got this game a few days ago and i'm addicted to it lol
Thank you my friend, I'll be uploading a speedrun soon too :)
Ive been playing it off and on for 9 years now lol. I never put it down for good.

Thank you for watching and providing your thoughts below. I understand that the references section is far fetched, what I should've of said was 'similarities' but even that would've been still far fetched for some. However, I greatly appreciate your many criticisms as it has allowed me to improve on my future uploads and the evidence is in my latest video on things missed in The Evil Within. "Friendship is the source of the greatest pleasures, and without friends even the most agreeable pursuits become tedious, Arisen"
THE WIND IS PUSHING MEEEEE!!!!
Well... I'd say that many of your references are too far fetched and just plain outta bum. Other than that, I'm sure that some of the things you showed here will be helpful to new players.
Agree. Like generic holding heavy stuff is basically normal for all games.
God Dam 7 minutes of just a reference to dungeons and dragons
ua-cam.com/video/8Eck6Ee5zNk/v-deo.html
I love the original intro
The og intro song was absolutely fire and never should have been replaced
Ok the pawn being able to catch you is insane. This game was ahead of its time
Also, always take out the goat head first on the chimera. If u dont he will use regen to heal the other parts.
It only refers to Gorechimera (the black one you encounter post-dragon) - regular Chimera doesn't heal itself.
Yes they do. Ive been playing since 2012 consistently. If yours doesnt its a bugged fight.
I constantly go out and fight them in the open world up north of Gran Soren. Those are good xp for early game.
Regular chimera definitely heal
You forgot the fact that DD is a video game, just like Tetris, which is a huge reference, and that's not all, later Monster Hunter World was released which is also a video game, so DD actually predicted the future, wild.
ua-cam.com/video/8Eck6Ee5zNk/v-deo.html
I have replayed this game 4 times now picking it up in 2015 for pc, and again on Switch.
DD was going to be a new Monster Hunter game, that's why there are so many similarities, mining, item crafting, breaking monster parts, even some combat animations and Elder dragon animations used in the drakes/gregori but it morphed into something different like RE4 did, becoming DMC
I don't think I've ever been caught by my pawn once.
The underground passages are a reference to the veitnam war, where americans had to send in shorter people to clear the tunnels.
Some straw clutching going on here lol
ua-cam.com/video/8Eck6Ee5zNk/v-deo.html
The Pawn catching you has happened ONE TIME for me during my entier time i've played it to 100% cross 3 platforms.
Anyone i know who picks/picked up DD for the first time, i told them to search for the Original Main Menu music, so they didn't miss out on how absolutely epic it is (they don't show it in this video, but look it up, it's a banger)
I knew everything except for Moniker name, the Alpha killing (they were the least aggresive) I can aggre on some of the references, but all of the DnD ones seems like a stretch.
I always loved the dark arisen theme, first played it on xbox 360, but I didn't know about the original menu theme (it's a great song too)
This was awesome, you NEED more subs.
Thanks bro, I'll keep em coming :)
I always thought that the crows were a reference to Maximo Army of Zin since they steal and carry diamonds and coins
When Dragon's Dogma released on the PC the very first thing I did was install a mod that put back the original main menu music!
This video, single handedly got me wanting to go back into Dragons dogma. Good shit
WOW YOU CAN LEVEL ONE HANDED IN SKYRIM THAT COMMENT MUST BE A REFERENCE HIDDEN IN DRAGONS DOGMA.
I was so disappointed when I got dark arisen and was not greeted by "THE WIND IS PUSHING MEEEE!!!"
Pretty damn awesome for 2012
Nice. I've never seen a pawn catch you nor the bore catch before how fascinating
The Mega Man moniker is actually a subtle nod reference to a popular game and character named Mega Man
