nice to see people on 4 meters i did have it set up with a 4 meter diapole but in castle donington near the airport activity was rubbish, it was like phone a friend and hope they were able to play radio. i took it down and sold it to a friend but he not used it since buying it really. i did enjoy it when i could hear someone maybe i get another set with better antenna. 2e0 rju
I get up to about 65 miles from home QTH running up to 25W. I also have a Pye valved base station on the AM calling channel & have yet to hear anyone in three years. Richard, G0OJF, UK
@@ukfmcbradioservicingTango21 I was only having a giggle. I know Lincolnshire quite well, I do a lot of metal detecting over that way. I live in the Brecon Beacons at 1250 feet asl, but still have peaks higher than me that interrupt VHF and UHF. I'd say you have a debatable advantage with an unobscured send-off to the horizon. 👍
Yes a great contact I can see they have a good hobby but it's what you keep up or take down the minute you take a antenna down it picks up I never go on 2m. 70cm is my thing 10m when it's open but I all ways go to the hills and on a bad day get a few contacts but on a good day 70cm comes alive then I like pmr and all home made antenna70cm a little beam and pmr a home made antenna from Slovakia a very nice base antenna and a t2lt antenna for 10m and that goes on my sota pole and were I sit it is 1900 fet asl and a very handy wooding pole for the use of I can drive to the top all concrete roads. Any ways a great video with some of the best radios out you see them come for sale and looking very rough and silly money take care until the next video.
@@mosherj666 Maybe you can help my old memory with regards to "Brecon Beacons" Myself & two other friends went for a long drive up there one night around 30 years ago now. We was in a Ford car with radios & antennas put up on poles outside the car. Made a lot! of nice contacts that night But.. one thing that I can't seem to remember is we're one of my (no longer with us) friends directed us too. All I remember is being scared out my wits when the fog cleared early hours in the morning. At around 3/4-AM as the fog went and the sun started to rise, I seen the tiny little what I thought, was road I drove up in the pitch black dark (If I'd turned inches to the right we'd have all been dead) The drop was thousands of feet. I remember a lot of hiking-rambling people starring at us with funny looks & a square brick shaped thing right next to us. As soon as the fog cleared we drove down constantly on the breaks-handbrake, it scared the life out of me. I Never! did find out we're it exactly was, we had just been all night, I just remember telling contacts "Brecon Beacons" & the scary tiny path I drove up along with the square hand built shape & the ramblers that's all I can re-call sadly.
You have reminded me that I should get back on 4m....

07:40 I don't understand why some OPs doing a half--an--hour monologe! They don't need a QSO partner!

It is in Lincolnshire where the land is mainly flat.
