Same experience with me! My dad grew up in Boone county WV. He always played this when we were pickin' and grinnin'. I lost him about a month ago. This song reminds me of him so much. I need to learn it really well so I can go visit my WV relatives and sit and play it with them. I've lived in NC most of my life, but after losing my dad I've really wanted to embrace my WV Appalachian heritage. I love this song so much!

I play alot of hard rock and 80s heavy metal as well as outlaw country these days and I can't fake my way through old songs like this one and my favorite, Red River Valley. That guitar looks so much like my dad's old Yamaha FG-180. I don't know much about all the models there are out there.. But it sure reminds me of it, and how he used to play this very song on it when I was little, before I learned it myself.
