Today is a sad day in our music world. The legend has transcended to another realm where he returns to forever... but the legend’s legacy will never end. See you Chick.
This is it. This is the pinnacle. This is what dedicating one’s life to art looks and sounds like. When all you need to do is just have fun, yet it’ll sound heavenly and will resonate for eternity…
Gary Burton dominates his instrument in a way that no other musician does today. He is a bona fide 100% jazz original. There is no-one with a better sense of timing. Thanks Gary for all the great music and the amazing talents you have nurtured. More please.
I really like how this is recorded well enough that you can hear the difference between Chick's and Gary's touch on the vibes. The love and respect between these two is manifest in the music, I love it.
I was just thinking, I'm getting a distinct Chico (Mr. Corea) and Harpo (Mr. Burton) Marx vibe--if you'll pardon the unintentional pun. Two immensely talented artists making beautiful music effortlessly and having great mischievous fun raising the spirts of their audience.
My father, who was a drummer, used to play the vibes. I remember as a four year old playing them. A lovely instrument. If I had a big house I would have a set
Still watching this again and again. We all know Gary shreds like a champ, but mad respect for Chick! Mallet percussion is NOT piano. He must have spent alot time practicing Vibes. That takes some insane skill to be that talented on piano AND pitched percussion!! Im So blessed to have seen these geniuses perform live twice!!
I love this duo so much! I love many jazz musicians but they are among the very exceptional ones you can never have enough, I´ve been listening them over 40 years now and still the same fresh feeling.
I'm sure he could play many instruments well. I don't think there's a single musician of the calibre of Chick who could only play 2-3 instruments. Guys like Chick are made out of music.
RIP Chick. I was in the audience at the Berkley Performance Center back in the early 80's when they played this together for the first time - although Chick stayed at the piano that night. Was pretty flawless. This is so enjoyable to watch
made me cry... I don't know why... I definitely wasn't the biggest fan of Chick Corea on the earth... but the art of music he's embodying here... just so powerful
J'ai eu les larmes aux yeux je souhaite une longue vie à ces deux munoment de la musique du jazz plus particulièrement ils me donne la chair de poule Je vous aimes Chick Corea vous êtes d'une discipline et d'une modestie exemplaire
Pretty credible performance by Corea on his non-native instrument! I had the good fortune of seeing them perform together in a rather intimate environment, and I count myself lucky to have had that experience (as well as having seen Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock perform together). I will miss Chick Corea dearly, but he has provided me so many moments of bliss and artistic stimulation, both through recordings and live performances!
Humor, playfulness old musical friends rejoice with sounds of pure love Profound expressions and youthful exuberance genius in disguise Tone poem troubadors serenade my spanish heart montuno haiku
Rest in Peace Chick Corea. You've been with me my entire life and I've seldom enjoyed any music as much as yours. I'm sure that you're going to enjoy jamming with Miles again :-)
I was more into herbie than chick back when I was learning my craft. UA-cam allows us to peruse at will. He was some guy musically. This is a great performance. He was a great composer.
There are quite a few musicians I regard as geniuses. But if I was forced to say at gunpoint who I think is the greatest musician of our time, I'd say it's Chick Corea. He has the highest level of musicianship in terms of both musicality and virtuosity. He transcends musical boundaries so easily that I wouldn't be surprised if he played with musicians from unfamiliar regions of the world. But this surely was a surprise--Chick playing a vibraphone, and so well!
Everyone that is evolved enough to understand this music and has sophisticated enough ears to enjoy it knows that Chick and Gary are top cats in the world.Problem with society these days is that their attention span is very short and would never even give this music a chance.Popular music these days is like fast food.In big quantity but nothing to show for it.
SOBERBIO! GRéGAlfGM
Rest In Peace Chick Corea, truly legendary musician.
What a chad he was
Was he was
Meant yes he was and still is a legend
Nobody can argue with that. A standout inspiration, one of a kind.
two musical geniuses
Chick Corea and Gary Burton were like those cool uncles at family gatherings...but all good things must come to an end #ripchickcorea
I wish I had that kind of uncle
Lucky you!!!
Today is a sad day in our music world.
The legend has transcended to another realm where he returns to forever...
but the legend’s legacy will never end.
See you Chick.
I wonder how Gary is right now. A lifetime friend has gone. :(
He left a beautiful mark on this earth. The best mankind has to offer.

Yes
Watching this again after yesterday is bringing a tear to my eye. You will always remain a true legend. Miss you Chick.
I really like how this is recorded well enough that you can hear the difference between Chick's and Gary's touch on the vibes. The love and respect between these two is manifest in the music, I love it.
I think those might be Schoeps microphones. That would certainly help to account for the great sound quality.
It’s almost like watching two old vaudeville masters captivating an audience. True Jazz legends.🇺🇸
1.3 million views.Good music is infectious.Yet it keeps us all alive.
The world will miss you Chick Corea.
Wonderful just shows how playful chick’s sense of music was, he always had fun whatever he did or played. A great exemplar for style and attitude. RIP
Good to see these jazz legend still playing together and bringing the FUN factor into performance and entertainment!
😭 I literally shed tears watching this.. pure bliss ...pure magic...Rest In Power Musical demigod Amando Chick Corea..Gary Burton what a legend.
My father, who was a drummer, used to play the vibes. I remember as a four year old playing them. A lovely instrument. If I had a big house I would have a set
Rest in peace to Mr. Corea and his beautiful soul
It is impossible to not smile while hearing this!!! ❤️
i was thinking the same thing
I am not smiling. This doesnt mean anything. I am loving the music and trying to see how he plays it and stuff.

RIP Chick. I'm going to watch every Chick Corea video on UA-cam. Then I'm going to watch them again.
Still watching this again and again. We all know Gary shreds like a champ, but mad respect for Chick! Mallet percussion is NOT piano. He must have spent alot time practicing Vibes. If there's a heaven, Chick is up there now making beautiful music. What a giant! It was a life well lived.
I love this duo so much! I love many jazz musicians but they are among the very exceptional ones you can never have enough, I´ve been listening them over 40 years now and still the same fresh feeling.
To my surprise again... CHICK plays Vibraphone! Really sweet stuff you two! LEGENDS!!!!
I love how Chick is pretty much the best pianist in the world, and then he goes oh yeah btw I play vibes
And he was a good drummer as well... RIP
Yeah, he started learning in his 50s, I think!
You'd think he knew about the keys after some 50 + years as a piano player
@@jpm65 Bob Moses told me of Chick often coming over to his flat to play drums and how good he sounded.
I'm sure he could play many instruments well. I don't think there's a single musician of the calibre of Chick who could only play 2-3 instruments. Guys like Chick are made out of music.
How is it possible, that there are people who put the dislike to this fantastic improvisation, of two Giants of contemporary Music.
GREAT SHOW, GREAT ARTISTS....THANKS FOR SHARING!!!
There's few things I love more than musicians having fun.
RIP Chick. I was in the audience at the Berkley Performance Center back in the early 80's when they played this together for the first time - although Chick stayed at the piano that night. Was pretty flawless. This is so enjoyable to watch

Corea filling in the notes on the semi-quaver triplet roll at around 3:24 is ultimate genius.
Chick is absolutely amazing once he takes on the melody. Gary makes the accompaniment sound so full and groovy!
Legende, und ich durfte ihn 3x erleben und danach nicht schlafen, das eine mal mit Bobby McFerrin ---- genial

The definition of the word "play."
The most fun thing I've seen in a jazz show.

I saw them performing at the Sydney Opera House in 2014....one of those special concerts. They played with the energy of youngsters.
Amazing! Two musical geniuses.
The Meaning of True Alchemy....Turning Notes and Rhythm into Pure Gold.
I watched this last year for a school assignment, and I have watched it every day since. This is amazing.
Such a lucky audience to be there experiencing this moment live. I’m so jealous. 😊
Two guys, one vibraphone, and a bunch of fun. A good pill to swallow these days.
Thanks for the great gift you gave us Chick. RIP

Man I love your drumming style and effect cymbals.
!
What a encore! The 1st class entertainment. Probably, many people don't know Chick had started his career as a percussionist.
Goes to show you can be legendary musicians and still have a lot of fun. THAT'S what makes them great.

Magnifico. Miss you Chick🙏🏻💐
遊び心いっぱいのすばらしい演奏です。
Wow sounds good you two. Even thought this is 8 years ago.
Just heard Chick corea passed .. the world is a lot worse without him!
Oh my God-these fellows made my night ;-)
And with a Bösendorfer piano... this video is very very awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That Bösendorfer has an entirely different character than the Yamaha pianos that Chick Corea usually played.
