    Mounjaro has been approved by the FDA for weight loss in Obese patients, with that said maybe some are pointing the finger in the wrong direction.
    I’m just saying

    Also, you have your health professional watch your weight loss and lab test your blood for any side effects. Like I had an iron deficiency because I ate less than what my body was used to and we could counteract this before it became problematic. I never would have known if I went on the medication on my own.

    *Many* serious and even life-threatening co-morbidities come with obesity: heart attacks, stroke, fatty liver disease, joint damage, kidney damage, greatly increased risk of several types of cancer, etc etc. The list goes on for quite awhile. 😯
    So - and we’re *not* talking about the ‘very much NOT obese ppl who are using these meds for *cosmetic* reasons’, aka losing that last 10 pounds for a wedding or something - but rather TRUE ACTUAL obese ppl… who often have serious health issues, and thus *just as much right to these meds as diabetic ppl do.*
    Yup, really. 🤷‍♂️
    Sure would be nice if a newscast ever made an appropriately STRONG distinction between cosmetic weight-loss and, “Gee, I’d sure like to not DIE from a major heart attack’ -type obesity. ☑️
    But, they never ever seem to. Wonder why? 🤔

      Or they could stop being lazy sloth's and actually exercise and eat properly. You know be healthy. But no it's easier to take this drug which we have no clue of long term side affects for non diabetic users. America has become so lazy and so addicted to the quick fix it's troubling.

      @middle I think that’s a misconception.
      Most ‘lazy’ obese ppl have actually tried to lose weight via diet and exercise… REPEATEDLY. As in *many times* during their life.
      Because being fat is generally stigmatized and really really tends to suck. Ppl are not nice to fat ppl.
      And what generally has happened is that despite their efforts, they either didn’t lose weight, didn’t lose *enough* weight, or lost the weight but couldn’t KEEP it off. 😢
      But they generally weren’t lazy.
      Finally… meds like these are not big mysterious unknowns. In fact, GLP-1 meds have been on the market since 2005, aka almost 20 years.
      So, if there were some horrible smoking gun side effect there with long-term use, it probably would’ve happened already. 🤷‍♂️

      @@cloakster The leading cause of obesity is the imbalance of calories consumed and calories burned through physical activity. When people consume too many calories, particularly fat and sugar, and don't burn them off through exercise, the body stores the excess energy as fat. So we should ignore science and Inject ourselves with a drug? I'll stick to being healthy. Good luck trusting pharmaceutical companies.

      @@cloakster There are some negative implications of Ozempic, particularly its correlation with various health factors, including, thyroid cancer, pancreatitis, and pancreatic cancer, hypoglycemia risks, acute kidney injury occurrences, gallbladder events, gastrointestinal disturbances, and cardiovascular effects.

    • @cloakster
      @cloakster 2 місяці тому

      @middle If you read up on it, you find that the serious side effects are quite rare… like less than 1 percent of users. 🤔
      For example, they have yet to find even one case of thyroid cancer caused by these meds. The warning label for it on the box is because it happened at extreme high doses in RATS. 🐀
      A lot of the other serious side effects are consequences of very rapid weight loss, and not the meds themselves.
      Finally… hypoglycemia? That happens when ppl are on a GLP-1 med AND another med that ALSO controls glucose, such as insulin.
      But properly managed, the chances of hypoglycemia are almost nil.

    greed is the motivation for all things human. To compound this shortage situation, Lilly is the sole proprietor for the drug tirzepatide which incorporates GLP-1 AND GIP making it more effective than its counterparts. Lilly has the patent sewed up until 2036 which means a generic will not be available until then and, with no competition, this rakes in the cash and makes shortages of the drug more frequent. The laws of supply and demand come into play letting Lilly control the supply and cost of the drug.
    Short of Congress getting involved which they will hesitate to do because "Big Pharma" pockets run deep in politics, look for little help from your elected officials..

    Or just focus on diet and exercise and staying as healthy as possible w/o turning to big pharma. Lift weights. Eliminate processed foods, sodas, seed oils, etc. while consuming only single-ingredient foods as much as possible (e.g. chicken, beef, rice, potatoes). Everyone can do that regardless of current medical status. And yes, I know it's much more difficult for those who are already full-blown-diabetic and/or who have joint and other mobility issues. But it's not impossible. The sooner you start doing this in life the better, longer, and more fulfilling your life will be.

      It's not that easy. I personally have issues with producing an abnormal amount of cortisol when stressed. I recently got on Zepbond and I don't get those stress butterfly feelings that mess with my mental. Now I can exercise being 30lb down its life changing to get over that hump I have been stuck on
