Thank you to all of you who spoke about this very special man that I get the privilege to call Daddy. He was a superb musician and a true man in the love of his family. As I read your comments, I smiled, and I cried thanking you for honoring my special memories of my Daddy, T-Bone Walker.!!! God bless each of you and thank you again for recognizing his genius!!!

Don’t remember your dear old dad but I do remember seeing the Allman Bros and hearing them say they this is an old T bone walker song before breaking into Stormy Monday which others have also covered. He definitely knew how to sing the blues and his guitar work was ahead of its time. Glad to hear that he was a loving g family man as well. God bless and Merry Christmas ❤

Bone's slow blues are a study in the plasticity of time.He used time as a malleable material that he could bend and stretch like a sculptor, uncovering a labyrinth of ever morphing grooves. T-Bone was a master of pure swing and faultless feel.

lol I watched a few minutes of the Howlin Wolf tribute a few years back. I felt like a total cliche watching the guitarists who came to perform and pay tribute, because I resembled a bit all of them, and they were all playing their best blues lawyer licks. Their best impression of a real blues guitarist.
I’ve always wanted to be a blues guy, but I’m just into Hendrix. I also wanted to be a jazz guy but I just can’t get into the music 😂

yeah. I ve heard many greats. but i've never heard anyone who played and sang every note, every time, not perfect , but just right. every time. And i am one critical mofo. I'll find something wrong even with a sunny day, especially if they serve up some watered down blues, or some gringo oriented mexican food food trying to pose as the really deally "comidas autenticos". he is amazing. Thanks for this vato. It's a great way to start any day. I learn and take notes and try to get that level of perfection and soul in my playing by playing along , over and over to Stormy Monday.

Walker played the guitar like that for purely acoustic reasons. Those old Gibsons vibrated differently when held up against the body in the traditional sense. When played the way T-Bone is holding it both the top of the guitar and the back vibrate louder and you can get an even more pure sound.
Plus it looks cool as hell!!?

  • @Gremllion
    @Gremllion 2 місяці тому +2

He played flawless. You can tell he was a perfectionist. Putting the swing in plus the way he held his guitar and could change up like it was nothing. Way ahead of his time. The way he dressed, his band , everything first class. I'm 71 and started looking on my rock and roll albums in the 60s at who wrote the song. Then I'd go to the record store and buy the original black blues men. Vinyl was so cheap I ended up with over 500 and growing up in New Orleans there were plenty record outlets. Cool old stores I can still remember, in fact I can remember the smell of those old buildings combined with the smell of the vinyl covers. I was buying 45s at 13, then I went nuts. I saw a TV as a child but once I got into my teens, I seldom look at television because I was always playing music. It made it easy for me to throw my TV away over 15 years ago.

T-Bone doesn't get nearly enough credit. He's at the root of pretty much all blues and lots of rock guitar soloing. And he was in his prime right till the end, unlike most of his peers. He just didn't fit into what white folk mostly wanted to hear during this time period, which was either acoustic "country blues" by rediscovered artists, many of whom were barely able to play, or the harder edged Chicago stuff that eventually morphed into Hendrix and metal and all the rest of it. But you trace things back far enough and there's T-Bone Walker, doing his jazzy thing consistently well decade after decade since before Blind Lemon Jefferson died. I mean, his voice is even better than his guitar, and nobody ever mentions that! One of the key figures in American musical history if you ask me. Plus he sold a whole lotta records back in his time, unlike most of the Chicago guys not named Little Walter.

People. both subscribers and channel owner(s), Read this... You are badasses, and like me, wondering, roaming, living, and, sometimes busting our asses out, to keep free from Music Inc., at least me, for sure. And one of the many reasons for Us, doods, to be like free birds, legit people, may be in the subtle detail, about mental faculties (God´s ultimate gifts, no doubt). We are different. At the most, younger than 35 years old, ( I´m 40), are really hard to let been touched by the true blues man... They just don´t get it... they get bored, man, can you belive it? When I was at the age of 8, my beloved mom bought me a music magazine, and the main subject was about the blues genre and blues legends, with a bonus CD with 11 songs featuring some old world tunes by the claimed to be, "Blues Legends". I still have this cd, and still feel it man, deep in me, I feel it, I naturally understand it, and so, is high valued for myself. When I finally get to play it decently in my guitar, I could aprecciate it even more. Nowadays, youger people (not generally, but IT IS hard to find one, able to feel and enjoy it) can not feel the shining boldness and the solidity that the blues carries. Their minds, or have been, by "something", not only blocked, but kept locked, and denied to feel it or aknowledge it properlly, therefore, ends been rejected, forgotten. The TRUTH is that is naturally compatible with TRUTH people. Honestly and respectly, I will keep it, playing and listening, admiring and inspired, by such gift that, surely will and, still works on me. Today, I hope that not only US, but whoever have the luck, may give, even if looks nothing, a strong and firm step, straight ahead to "the blues touch". Let it help you on this shitty life they insist on us to volunteering cave and be slaved. Try to feel, then these links between the real blues played and the emotions that can make us feel, will help educate on refining and reconsider whenever the need calls it to be done for the truth inside you people. Stay fine, and, YES, you can handle it, if born under a bad sign!

Wish I could see what’s he’s playing. He’s holding his guitar like he doesn’t want the crowd to see.

I don't know the exact model but it was a Gibson. The model is now extinct. We did approach them about making it again but were told the mold was no longer available. He did not like the small models that are in use now as the sound was not liked by his ears!!!

I wonder what became of T-Bone's guitars? Did he have any children?

His last guitar is in the Rock’n Roll Hall Of Fame on display. I can remember him only having one at a time, The blond one you see in the clips was stolen in Paris France while on tour off of the stage. There were two children, his Son transitioned in 1998, I am his Daughter.

In addition to being lead-boy for Blind Lemon, Bone began show career as DANCER in Tiny Bradshaw, often bringing house down w/trademark schtick of clamping table in teeth and swinging in circles. Legendary guitar only began stint as ballad crooner, but always prodded into closing whatever show (other performers loathe to follow). But perhaps most surprising fact from autobio of Basie, is T-Bone offered chair in Basie unit. Equally amazing, if not moreso, is Freddy Green was down with Bone in band. But turned down by T-Bone. Hardly needing mention that cats DREAM of Basie unit being capstone of career…almost unfathomable.

I wonder why he holds the guitar like that, it looks like it would be harder and more uncomfortable to play

Because that was his style! I'm sure he was pretty used to it since he always played that way

I’m his daughter and I was told at an early age that he played a steel guitar so he preferred a flatten instrument. Have a blessed day!!!

He plays with his whole body, including his face. He puts everything he’s got into every note. First time I’ve heard or seen him play, although I’ve to others sing his songs for years.
