Kevin Smith had this same exact I'm not rich shtick when he guested on the Adam Carolla podcast. That was seriously like a decade ago. He was on Blank Check podcast not long ago... realized he is not the guy i became a fan of. he's been a faker for so long I feel embarrassed to not have seen it sooner. I quit listening to his podcast once he started doing live tours...his prerecorded shows he banked were bad. The live shows were bad. He really just forgot who he was when he made Red State and every decision he made afterwards...negatively affecting his podcast

Early SModcast Kevin Smith seemed genuine and was casually funny, whereas the Kevin of the past 10+ years has felt like he's doing a performance, the comedy feels forced, etc. The hands, the faces, it's just a put-on.

nothing funnier in a podcast than having a guest relive a painful and critical heart ailment, always comedy gold to me. I liked him better and he seemed happier and more carefree when he was heavier. Mike is right , losing that much weight that quickly left Kevin with kind of a flash burn look. I used to love Kevin Smith but he seems a lot different now. I have a heart condition also but I do not talk about it in public. No one really cares or wants to hear about that stuff. Especially when talking to strangers
This actually made me like Kevin smith and to answer his question why Shane, Theo, timmy ds pods blew up are due to the fact they understand subtle politcal grifting. So if you go for pure comedy you compete with the entirety of Hollywood. But subtle grift they attract comedy fans and than righties that have nobody else to follow but rob Schneider and goat man.
