I bought a used GAPR Mid two weeks ago and really like it. Perfect club from the tee and off the deck. I am struggleing with a fw and my hybrids from the deck, but i am comfortable with my 4 iron. The GAPR fits perfectly in my bag and give me 20 yards more as my 4 iron. I will give the Stealth DHY a try, maybe it's find an entry on my christmas wishlist.
I play golf in Texas. We have a lot of hard, dry fairways, and a lot of high winds, which can create a links golf sort of feel to our courses. I have never liked hybrids, I just struggle to hit them effectively, but I love long irons for their workability. The SIM UDI made its way into my bag a while ago, and it’s been one of my favorite clubs for these hot, dry, windy days. It helps me keep it low and in play, and I find it gives me a lot of the options people look for in hybrids. The question now is: do I buy the stealth now that it’s out, or would the upgrade be so marginal that it’s not worth it?
i hear what you're saying but that is essentially long irons in general which is why modern sets start at 5 iron and hybrids are as popular as they are.
This is why I like watching you. You are never too big to correct your mistakes. I respect that. You were absolutely wrong on your previous video with reference to utility/driving iron clubs. Hundred percent incorrect because I play of 11 handicap and utility DI clubs has transformed my game. I hit the 3U-505 about 220-230 yards. By the way I bought my PXG clubs partly because of your review.
Reminds me of the GAPR line. Taylormade needs to bring back the hosel adapter for more shaft interchangeability. The GAPR line also had loft lie and face angle adjustments.
Great review of the new TM DHY and UDI. Would really enjoy seeing you do a head-to-head comparison with the TaylorMade DHY and Ping Hybrid. A big thumbs up for this video.
I prefer driving irons or my 5 wood off tee - I simply can not get my driver going consistently and it penalising more than the distance helps. Rather be on fairway than rough, woods, etc hence driving iron or 5 wood off tee.
I think for your next video, you should concentrate on the 5-DHY because at 25 degrees, it sits right in the middle of traditional 4 and 5 irons, and these are exactly the clubs that most Average Golfers run out of the club head speed to hit to appropriate peek height - and thus comparing them to hybrids or 9woods, which DJ is now using, would make for great content.
Purchased the 2 UDI and this is my "go to club" for narrow fairways when control is absolutely important. I use my 4 iron a lot so this 2 UDI is going to replace my hybrid. The only woods I'll be carrying next season is a 3 wood & driver thanks to the UDI.
The question would be how they compare to Stealth hybrid. Why would you choose one over the other if they are both great products and at same end of bag??
Yes, a comparison of UDI/DHY to TM's hybrid options would be very interesting. The fitter recommended that my son go with the Rescue 3 and 4. For myself, I ordered the Rescue 5 to cover the gap between my 5 iron and G425 4 hybrid.
Recently became a subscriber and love your videos and content. I recently got fit into the Stealth irons and went with the 5-aw. (Still waiting on clubs to arrive) I will need gapping from the 5 iron to my ping G425 2 hybrid. I also got fit into the TM rescue but held off on buying until I see what my 5 iron distance will be. I would appreciate a HDY vs a Stealth rescue comparison. Thank you.
I play off 13 with swing speed of around 70 / 80 and I’ve just purchased a Titleist U505 4 iron which comes with graphite shaft. So Titleist equivalent of TM DHY. Works for me, easy to hit, straight with 150yds carry, 165yds total. I can’t hit hybrids and this is a much better option to fit between 5 iron (Ping i210) and Ping 7 wood. Excellent on links course. I had been avoiding long irons as advice had been they don’t work for slower swing speeds. So ignore the advice and work out what works for you!
Good video. I use a Mizuno 2 iron as a replacement for my 4 wood when it's windy. You need to know your game before you decide on whether one can help. Changing your bag around so you can fit a long iron into it, is not a reason.
Interested in the DHY, as a tee club for short par 4’s. However, I wonder if there is any difference to the stealth 4 & 5 set irons. There big and low lofted at 18 & 21’deg. Can they be that much different??
I’ll stick with what I have. I own enough clubs to mix and match depending on the course I play and I don’t think my wife wants me bring in “just one more club “.
Think I’m going to replace my P770 4-iron with 4-DHY. Possible 5 later down road. Fairly good with my fairways 3W and 5W, but an even club swap with more forgiveness and ease of height seems a no brainer.
Thx again Andy, another solid video. Every other UA-cam video, of any kind, they make a point to remind my dumb arse to hit subscribe, hit like, hit bell… Thank you & lovely daughter GOD Bless! 🙏🏻😎🙏🏻
I now use the stricts on the new hybrid irons I have a two sent incorrectly for a three and a four I only use the two off the T-Box on a very narrow fairway or on par threes on our course which are both about 175 off the T I can hit the four off almost any lie I love them as I have never been a friend to a hybrid
Literally just bagged the UDI 2 iron and compared to my old P790 UDI its wolds apart..... Hybrid forgivness with Iron performance feel and workability.
15* Fairway & 21* Hybrid (TSi2's) are not an issue but my 4 iron gets an easy ride. Perhaps something like the DHY or the Cleveland HyWood jobby you had the other day might be a better option. This may well call for a trip up the mountain to Holywell to consult with my trusted pro-guru.
I’d suggest being careful with the comment that the UDIs are for the ‘better player’. I’m a 13 hdcp so certainly not a better player, but I have a fairly high swing speed and slightly too steep of attack angle, so a low iron or UDI is actually more consistent and easier than a hybrid for me.

The one problem I've had with these clubs is... If swing speed isn't quick, you just don't get the performance of a fw or real hybrid.
i hear what you're saying but that is essentially long irons in general which is why modern sets start at 5 iron and hybrids are as popular as they are.
@@TheCheesewalrus agreed. I guess my point is... For the "average golfer" a fw or hybrid is a much better option.
that's why you use your hip and rotate more...my iron goes 290-300 yards with my stinger...
For some, they just don’t get along with hybrid or fairway wood. Shorter shaft and flatter face (no bulge and roll) could be their preference too.
@@sublimegolf26 agreed and that almost perfectly describes the situation for me. irons all day over hybrids.
Really like the look of them, wouldn't mind giving them a try I do struggle with my hybrid but can hit a decent 4 iron

The D head looks like the Wilson and Cleveland High handicapers options but will have TM prices

This comment helped me decide to get one. Thanks!
Not a young man anymore, but the Stealth UDI would be for me as a driving iron.
The dhy is very similar to the gapr but without the adjustability not sure if it's worth it. Good review.👍
It’s most similar to the SIM DHY. They are the same club.
Can you get different shafts in these clubs? I’m 74 and have always struggled with my hybrids.

I like TMs innovation. . . . not sure it fits in my bag but enjoyed the v-log 👍
These look just like the SIM Udi and DHY. I love my SIM DHY.
Yea I could not play them...not good enough of a ball striker and likely not enough swing speed. rather use a 5 wood/7 wood.
Are they much of an improvement over the GAPR?

Stealth DHY looks like the real deal for a Driving Iron..
Is this the same as the Sim UDI & DHY?
Mate you can only have 14 in the bag! Ha
Got mine today Andy
Looks just like my Sim 2 Udi/Dhy
