SCOUT Zero - first thermals - It's not a paramotor it's a Thermal machine - ARTIK6

  • I have spent quite a few hours before, trying to fly thermals with a paramotor.
But i always ended up frustrated due to the stiff and awkward flying position.
It was uncomfortable, difficult and insensible.
The ScoutZero, on the other hand, behaves very nicely and has a very similar handling to a conventional paragliding harness.
It is comfortable enough for long flights and when flying for hours you truly forget there is still a motor attached to it.
The first flight I flew about 1 hour in nice calm thermal conditions before i landed for lunch,
15min later I was back into the action (that’s just awesome 😊)
Nice cloud streets made it easy to make transitions and I flew towards France.
Once there I saw that the paragliding pilots at the local paragliding take off were having difficulties climbing out and were pretty frustrated when they saw me flying over at 2000m altitude beneath the clouds.
Localpilot#22 =” he flew!!! while we sat here waiting like fools!! ”
After 3hrs of flying I finally landed back next to the car, no long retrieve for me this time.
Just enjoying the sunset with a beer, reminiscing about my flight.
Thank you, SCOUT for designing such a beautiful piece of equipment,
it’s revolutionary and a great addition to the sport.
And I’m grateful for the opportunity to contribute.

I also applied, unfortunately a bit too small and light for the first model. With my current light paramotor, I have 200+ hours of thermal airtime in the north German flatlands this year. I absolutely want the Scout Zero, the perfect expedition aircraft. 😍

Epic! So you are one of the selected testing pilots. Congrats. Hope you tested like mad :D Looking so much forward to getting my Zero next year. Will help when we go winching the last to winch can take Zero to join the others...no more last one grounded on xc days during the week when few pilots have time :D

Hahaha meanwhile in funmay 😆 love it! Does it feel like a pg harness or ppg harness in flight?

Its a paragliding cocoon with a motor attached to it, no frame only strings and cloth. so yes it's 99% PG :)

You transport the foldet gas motor in the bag. Do you have the smell of gas in your car when you keep it there for 1-2 days?

    • @IvoBELGIUM
      @IvoBELGIUM  2 роки тому +1

Yes , the gas smell is inevitable when flying ppg. The remaining fuel in the carb will dilute in the air over time

Are you overloaded on your normal PG wing or did you buy a wing specifically for flying this?

I fly the Artik6 27 (100-122kg) . With my pg gear im at 115kg (70%) , with the zero im at 122kg (100%) . with 3l of fuel at 124kg. The Artik6 is best flown at max load.
