    Great look at a traditional driven hunt, something I've never experienced here in the US. Your countryside is so beautiful and very nicely filmed! Thank you for the video!

    Great combo of Blaser F3 and Gamebore Black Gold! This quality of footage should be on mainstream tv.

    I love the tweed, and the dogs are beautiful. Of course, the shotguns are splendid.

    Jonathan, this is simply exceptional filming and I love the fact you show all aspects of shooting - from the pre-shoot breakfast to the chats between the guns and beaters. I really do think this captures all of the glory that shooting has and you have definitely done the sport proud.

    That's it I'm coming across the pond to give this a go! Nothing gets me excited like fine shotguns, fast birds, good food, good drinks and great company. Over here in Canada I just hunt grouse with no dog and I'm lucky to see 2 birds a day after walking through thick bush for hours on end. Haha beautiful filming as well. Cheers

      Scott, that is the purist kind of grouse hunting. The flush and getting the shot, is to be savored more than the kill. You really need to be in shape and knowledgeable to hunt as you describe. Good hunting to you.

      Phillip Yeager thanks Phil! It definitely is rewarding having a bird flush 5 ft in front of you after walking for hours on end. Not to mention make you feel alive when your heart is in your throat from the adrenaline when that grouse takes flight catching ya off guard lol. thanks for that kind comment I really should be more greatful for that hunt. Good hunting to you as well :)

    I didn't know over / under shotguns had ejectors on them that was really neat seeing those spent shells pop right out of the gun and ready for 2 more shells . Oh yeah the bird hunting looked like a lot of fun in the fields as well . I bet a bird hunt like that is rather expensive as most pay to hunt parties are .

      Morning Southpaw, sorry for my delay in getting back to your comment. These days are great fun and a tribute to the hard work that is put into organising them. Get yourself over to the UK sometime soon, I would be happy showing you around some shoots. Jonathan

      That's the law, 2 +1 shots for game and anything more than three can't be used on game only pests. It's also tradition, you'd look a twat rolling up with a 7 shot semi

  • @xboxluva661
    @xboxluva661 9 років тому +2

    Anyone is the UK shoot a semi auto?

    • @mrcaboosevg6089
      @mrcaboosevg6089 7 років тому

      Loads of people, not with game though. I only use my semi on the wildfowl as you have to use steel non toxic these days. Traditional shooting is pretty much only done with O/U's and SxS shotguns with semi autos and pumps used for pest shooting. I enjoy pest shooting much more, better meat imo too

    Perhaps it is a trick of the camera lens and it would look different in person... But it seems as though there is a bit of shooting of the heads of the next door pegs head. If it is so... I find it to be in sporting and unsafe.

    Nice video but some poor shooting. I am a keeper on a shoot in Cornwall and we get city guys all the time. Whats that saying, all the gear and...

      +Ed Macfarlane nobody misses on purpose! If you're a keeper you need to be thankful that people shoot at all or you'd be out of a job!

      +Ed Macfarlane With our films we aim to show all from the big game shoots and best shots to the humble smaller days taken by roving syndicate teams, like this film. This team have all been shooting most of their lives, they live and work in the countryside much like yourself. With days like this we cant just show the footage where birds are being shot, its not what the day is about. Check out our High Bird series and please keep the feedback coming as its always welcome. Regards. Jonathan

    i guess when I'm old and can't really walk/hunt anymore, or all public land is taken away, this will be what I call the "hunt."

    • @JonathanMMcGee
      @JonathanMMcGee  9 років тому +1

      Thanks for your comment. This is a traditional UK driven shoot, not hunting in its true sense like that in the USA or Europe. As a channel we aim to showcase all forms of hunting/shooting and in the UK this is one of the more popular forms. You may be interested in our A Passion for Deer series if your after true hunting. This series follow a professional deer stalker and his family. Thanks.

    Very sloppy shooting, why are right handed shots constantly putting their weight on their right foot. If they moved their feet appropriately it wouldn't check the swing or make the barrels cant at the end of the swing and therefore pull the gun off the line of the bird
