  • Citing the danger to campers, crews hired by the City of Portland have been clearing homeless camps along roads and by interstate ramps on Oregon Department of Transportation property. But that effort is now on hold after the city used all of its allotted funding.

What about all the money that went into purchasing tents and sleeping bags? I’m sure they marked up those prices and bought them through a friends business.

I have already watched the results of a Fetanyl addicted homeless person walk out in front of a semi-tractor trailer here. They never looked up but rather continued the zombie shuffle. The visual display endstate was highly unpleasant, and traffic accident effect far reaching. The reason vagrants are living along the interstate is they are fearful of living downtown, not exclusive to forced relocation.
Tolerance laid the path to the present as well as the future.

I once saw this dude crossing the street get hit by the car in front of me. Dude kept walking! It was crazy.
He wandered out into traffic at night so the car didn't see him. The car hit him, he stumbled but never went down and then he walked it off. He was definitely high.
The car in front of me stopped. I was stopped behind that car. And I was wondering "Should we call the cops to report an accident or call an ambulance?"
Me and the other car just stood there for a bit wondering what to do. But dude just kept walking. I suspected he was on wet.
Eventually the car in front of me decided "fuck it" and drove away. I went back to driving too. Is it really a hit and run if the dude keeps walking? He definitely felt it after the wet wore off.

The housing crisis has been going on for years. The fact the system income line is so low that making a dollar or two above minimum an hour can make you lose your housing and turn over brings in more money than having stable renters. The system of how housing is done needs to change. Increase the amount of vouches,do audits etc. The wait list is 2 to 6 years.

Exactly. Instead of heavy deterrents like lifetime jail for distribution etc... they legalize it. Not realizing that once on meth they generally can't work anymore. Hard to be production doing that drug. So those that feel entitled, don't want to work and be productive will go to cities like Portland, oakland, and SF. That way they can stay on the streets and smoke crack. That' really their only need in life. Sad.

All this money to remove homeless when it could of been spent on providing shelters for them instead. People might argue that they rather not go to a shelter because of all the rules and regulations they have to follow to stay there. But maybe make a less strict shelter so they actually feel comfortable there. idk just some guys opinion on the situation.

Research will reveal the State of Oregon has spent millions of dollars of tax oncome issuing tents from starting 2014 until 2023. How has this worked out? Shelter is not the solution. Over 80% want "their freedom" lawful or unlawful. A person has no precedence for accountability. The US Constitution does not include a right for free housing. Alternatively, poor houses require work.

Don't ostracize them or film them like freaks. Maybe find some of them work or hire them to be KGW reporters. We have camps here, many people seem to stay 4 or 5 months. Sometimes the city puts up eviction notices on vehicles and they leave or RV's sometimes burn down.

They are predominantly strung out drug addicts suffering some degree of psychosis. They aren't reliable enough to hold gainful employment due to their crippling drug addictions. The camps they live in are cesspools and prime breeding grounds for communicable diseases that haven't been prevalent since NYC tenements of the 1800s.

That won't work. They will just trash the housing. And generally they are not allowed to do meth when living in gov housing. That's why the projects failed miserably. They ended up condemning and tearing them down. Your idea has been tested and failed every single time. Rehab won't work either because relapse on meth is insanely high. The only answer and its not easy is to seal the border and stop distribution. Take people caught with distribution and lock them away for 10 years. Sounds cold huh? But it would work. I guarantee it. You literally have to eliminate access to meth. Other drugs don't seem to decline humans as fast as meth. Take that single drug off the market and you would see meaningful change
