Been looking for information like this! Can't thank you guys enough. Its so hard to find simple, understandable information about Shoulder dislocation out there.
Wow so I'm 20 years old still actively play sports I don't recall but I believe I had 2 dislocations in one year(span of 5-6 years since first and last dislocation((5 in total))) and to know 70% chance it might still happen again WITH rehab is nerve wrecking. Well here's hoping it doesn't because that pain is unbearable; almost passed out from the it one time. Great channel btw thanks for sharing your knowledge for the world to see, learn, and use. Good stuff!
@@pabloucarrodriguez7047hey im 21 and i had my first shoulder dislocation last week, i don’t want this to happen again and i do play sports, should i get surgery?
I'm 24 years old and dislocated my shoulder (anterior) in June last year. After about 2 months I was feeling pretty confident and was able to return to my usual weightlifting/calisthenics regiment. Today I again dislocated my shoulder. It has been 9 months since my first injury. The process is very slow but can be done with proper care and PT. My goal is to avoid surgery as best I can, however I'm heavily into martial arts and thus I rely on the ability to use my shoulder strength often. I plan to take my PT and recovery much more slowly thus time in hopes I can reach 100% again.
Yessir this happened to me though the first time I dislocated mine I was 19 and I didnt do a proper rehab. I dislocated it againt 5 months later and I will do a 6 month program with proper exercises. It sucks I can't go back to training mma but it is what it is
I dislocated yet again last week, nownits time for a MRI and proper PT. It's a heartbreak, I was about to pre-test for 2nd degree BB. Looks likw that a lot further away now.
@@deathculture8203 sorry to hear bro. That sucks. I truly wish you the best man, and just know you aren’t alone. I want to get back to running my dog and push-ups and pull ups. I hate feeling like I’m just sitting around getting fat and lazy. I want to run and get out with my dog. I’ll keep in touch with you. Let me know how everything goes. I’ll do the same. Do you think you’re gonna go for the surgery now?
@Christopherboyd I appreciate it, im gonna try my best to avoid surgery as long as I can. I've got some recommendations for PT and I'll look into that first. Thanks for the support! I'll let ya know what comes next.
Dislocated my shoulder in a bike accident in 2018. 6 weeks in a sling and the a few weeks of rehab and I was fine. Back to lifting and general physical activity. Yesterday, nearly 4 years later, was sitting in chair outside in the sun with my arms up and went to move to grab my phone and it dislocated. That is right, I was sitting in a chair. It hurt horribly until it was popped back in at the hospital but now that its in a sling I have ZERO pain. Hoping its rehab again but not totally against surgery.
I've have had dislocated my shoulder 6-7 times in 3 years and during one time I was just stretching having arms away from my body in the air & BAMMM! it popped out again, followed by vomiting. Because it happened quite a lot of time & have made me a pro, I fixed it in no time.
@@sumitkhanna7786 bro never went thru surgery rn my shoulder is okay I know it’s not the same anymore but gotta keep working it out and don’t have it in awkward positions where the shoulder could dislocate try making boundaries for shoulder movements
@@notagoodgamer5433 yeah, I think making boundaries(explicitly) is a good move- there are tapes for that, or special kind of vests. Those will never let one jerk the shoulder out of the socket IMO. I was contemplating one.
as long as I do my thera band shoulder exercises my shoulder doesn't dislocate but what happens is that my shoulder feels great so I forget to do them then a month or 2 later Ill get some warning signs and if I don't start doing PT again it will dislocate. I have also noticed it only dislocates when my arm muscles are worn out and don't react properly
Hey , thanks for your advice. I would like to know how long will I have to do the exercises for dislocation? And which all exercise are mandatory on daily basis. I have dislocated my shoulder 4 times two were minor and two were major but yes I can move my hand to & fro but if I move my right shoulder more on the exterior I get warning not to do it again.
Same here, about to get surgery for a shoulder instability, perthes lesion, I am actually looking into other options, like stem cells, if you have the money to get stem cells and prolotherapy make sure to check it out. The Osteo Center with Dr. Goddard or Regenexx, either of those will tell you if they can help. Stay faithful with your injury, this test will make you stronger!
Thank you so much for the very instructive videos. My shoulder dislocates about once a year over very mundane activities, like putting a backpack on or reaching for my seatbelt. However, it never dislocates during strenuous yoga or rock climbing activities I do. I had surgery on my shoulder over 14 years ago, but I still experience dislocations during mundane activities just about once a year. I thought my yoga would be enough to strengthen my shoulder, but I guess not. What is going on? Why does it dislocate during mundane activities but not in strenuous positions I put my shoulders in during yoga and rock climbing?
physicaltherapyvideo I have before, but not consistently. I will do it more consistently now. But what would cause my shoulder to dislocate under mundane activities (like sleeping, walking, etc) but not while doing strenuous stretching in yoga and rock climbing?
Maybe because your technique is good ;p I did my second MMA lesson 1 week ago and I didn't have good technique so it dislocated. My first dislocation is about 3 years ago.
I am 67 y.o. (near 68) In the last 10 days my Rt. shoulder has dislocated 5x !! I'm at my wits end! It is 13 days (8/15/22) until I travel below Gainesville (I live in Jax, Fl.)to see the shoulder revision doc. I am wearing a shoulder immobilizer but shower? I'm SOOOOOO paranoid!! It takes NOTHING for it to dislocate...........like standing still, arms at sides. WTH???????? I NEED surgery; thats' obvious but it won't be soon enough !! WHAT can I do????
I'm 26 I first "dislocated" my shoulder when I was 8. I guess it was a subluxation tho, because most of the time it rolled in with my mom's help or myself by just wiggling a bit. It's happened at least 18-20 times on the right and twice on the left since then, most while I was sleeping or while stretching in the morning. 3 weeks ago I had a complete dislocation, it was out over an hr before I called 911 for help. I've been in a sling since then and going to get an MRI and start PT next week. My thing is my ribs kinda hurt on the side and my chest, neck, other shoulder and lower back are cracking alot and feel weird, I just feel like my whole body is thrown off. This is my first time getting treatment for my should problems and I don't really like my doctor, shes a surgeon and I feel like I can't really talk to her. I'm hoping my PT will be like you guys.
Hi! I am 39 and recently had an anterior shoulder dislocation and small fracture on the shoulder bone (right at the ball). I was told I also suffered axillary nerve damage. Everything I have read indicates that this is common in a dislocation and that the normal physical therapy suggested in a dislocation is sufficient, but I would like to know more about the axillary nerve, its functions and recovery. I am almost 8 weeks from the dislocation and still waiting to be approved to do physical therapy at all.
Did you make a recovery from you dislocation? I did the same six weeks ago and haven't started the physiotherapy yet because I'm waiting for the fracture to heal.
***** will do thank you for your time ive been trying to get it better after it came out like 2mm and back in (after surgery) because ill be on the Dirt Bikes again soon hahahaha never say die
+physicaltherapyvideo KTM exc 250 2stroke 05' it's a weapon, I love the power band when u open all the way on the pipe time seams to stop my dad is 58, and he has one too 1 year ago we decided to do something together what do you do for kicks?
***** yeh awesome was your KX 250 a 2 stroke? and Ice Racing, sounds like lots of fun being in Aussie, we dont have to much of that but we do have many trails im loving the hill climbs atm and a Tandem bike what is that like to ride sounds very interesting to ride
I have dislocated my shoulder over 10 times. At some point i had 4 dislocation within 6 months. And 8 of the 10 dislocations happened in the past 4 years. I cannot raise my hand up high and can not bring my shoulder back in an upward position. But simple tasks sometimes pup it out easily. Such as simply reaching back to get my bag from the back seat of my car when i am sitting on the driving seat. Or using my hand as a pillow for my head when i am laying down.
LISTEN!! My shoulder has came out 1000 times im 25 yrs old , Just learn how to live with it and respect it. I don't have the money for surgery so ive learned what not to do with my right shoulder. And if you play sports you have a 95% chance if it happing again. It hurts because it will limit you in life but dont give in to any limits
I had 3 dislocations within a year about ten years ago when I was 26. No healthcare, doctor or emergency room visits. I started my own kind of physical therapy including weights and my shoulder is stronger than ever!!! Not medical advice lol.
If i could show you my left shoulder right now. I've been living with it since july 2020. Woke up one day and it hurt to move it. Now i cant pick it up past 25 degrees.
My left shoulder is permanently out of joint from ehlers danlos and my tendons and muscles no longer attached. Ive had pt and cortisone shots.telief from the shots was 4 weeks each time but it always comes back with a vengeance. The pain does, along with spasms on top. Of my shoulder and upper arm.
What if you don't want to have surgery???? What if you are scared speechless at the very mention of it? Can't physio help? Please tell me it does (3 dislocations in 5-6 years, last 2 dislocations having occured with a year and a half's break in between)
I train boxing and I get my shoulder dislocated more often than I would like. I have learned to immediately put it back into the place so it doesn't hurt as much but it just happens way too often, usually after I throw a pretty wild or long punch. Should I need surgery at this point or just take medication for it?
Same man. I do muay thai. First fight debut i was throwing a hard overhand and next thing i know is my shoulder was out of place. Ref popped it back in, continued the fight and it came off the second time and the ref had to stop the fight. Ever since, a basketball pickup would also dislocate my shoulder. Im considering a surgery
Most likely we will all need surgery guys. I threw a hard pass playing basketball the other day and it just popped out. I have been to CT and MRI scans and the problem is that the more frequently you dislocate your shoulder the more loosened up the ligaments around it become and ofcourse most probably you severe your labrum every time it pops out. It is highly recommendable as we're young and want to do sports without limitations. At this point muscle strength is also irrelevant, you can either weigh 60 or 90 kgs, once your ligaments are loosened up, as much as ours, maybe surgery doesn't sound so bad... :)
You most likely all need surgeries as soon as possible and no more contact sport until you have had the surgery to avoid more dislocations. Only if you are very very lucky there wont be any damage at the shoulder by now. But even then you will need a longer break and a lot of shoulder stabilization workouts. The long term consequences of multiple dislocations are very serious. And also the probability of dislocationg again rises with every additional dislocation. Anyway what is definetley a must for you is seeing a doctor. Only he can tell you how big the damage already is. Most likely theres serious damage already
@@MGRA1996 I'll pass thanks! I train bodybuilding now (doctor's orders) to strengthen my shoulders and so far it's been two years and I haven't had any more dislocations.
@Danto Barbarin Do heavy resistance training for your serratus anterior and your grand dorsals (lats), not only your shoulders. Emphasis on HEAVY (but hey be careful don't get injured twice haha ). The increased passive partial contraction and the powerful stretch reflex will give protection to your shoulder. However you will remain at high risk of injury from high energy impacts, where the stretch reflex simply isn't enough. Edit: progress gradually towards higher weights, not all heavy in one go. Again, pace yourself (you are an athlete so you probably get what I'm trying to say). The goal is to build to to heavy sets, where your muscle will really benefit from strengthening its passive partial contraction and the potential of its stretch reflex. Your goal here is to make these muscles LESS flexible, so that when you reach the end of the safe range of motion for your shoulder, the stretch reflex of the muscles kicks in and keeps your shoulder in that safe range.
Hi guys! In every your video you are talking about anterior dislocation and everything which is related to it. But what about posterior dislocation? Are the exersises the same? What is the mechanism of posterior shoulder dislocation and how it can be examined? Could you give more details on this kind of dislocation?
I'm looking forward to seeing your videos. Glad that I can educate myself with you. Also, is it possible for you both to dwell on kinesio taping? Will it work if I dislocated my shoulder several times (4 times) posterior dislocation. Thanks!
Thanks guys, i am 42, and dislocated my right shoulder twice in a month's time recently. The first time i was throwing a softball from the outfield to the infield and it popped and i went down, as they were carrying me to the dugout, it popped back in place and i played the rest of the game and hit a couple of home runs to boot! About a month to a month and a half later i did it again, this time i went down and didn't get back up and had to be rushed to the emergency room. Took 3 big burly doctors to pop it back into place. That happened on the 22nd of April 2016, so it's been a little over a month now. My question is, why does it keep popping out? I've played baseball, football (flag), softball, Frisbee, dodge ball all of my teenage and adult life, had a arm on me too, i could throw the sucker really hard and fast. Why all of the sudden is my shoulder popping out of place? What can i do to ensure that it doesn't pop out again? Thanks for all your videos and please keep them coming. Jordan
I couldn't play baseball, basketball or anything else that required my arms. I popped it twice but i can't throw the baseball or pull the basketball which was the second reason I popped it out.
@@hsizadam thanks for your concern, it's been okay. I learned to not throw the ball so hard, and learned how to sleep without it poopping out. Thanks for checking on me.
I had I dislocated my shoulder once 3 times in 1 year now I have had a total of 6 or lost count of how many dislocations I have had. Once I remember I dislocated my shoulder was waiting for the ambulance they were taking too long time to arrive. So instead I decided to laid down on my stomach on a table and had the dislocated arm dangling on the side of the table. This trick relocated my shoulder by itself before the ambulance arrived. It felt very nice as well when it relocated my shoulder without any pain or force relocation that the doctors do. This trick worked for me on that occasion but what do you recommend Bob and Brad? I looked this trick up if there are any information about it but have found nothing on it.
when my shoulder dislocates or pops out of socket badly i just pop it back in my self and or readjust it idk how it hurts like shit but i guess it works
I had a bone reshaping surgery due to chronic dislocation about 6 years ago. I haven't had problems since, until recently I dislocated from a physical altercation. I saw an ortho and asked if my previous surgery was damaged, but he did not seem to know. I asked for an MRI, but he said he only does those if he plans on acting on it due to cost. Should I see another ortho and insist on an MRI? Is the previous surgery not automatically damaged if it dislocates after it is done? Also, my insurance runs out soon, so I'd like to know if I should get re-surgery or not... Thank you.
So guys after the surgery can we go for weight training? how long was ur recovery time after surgery?pls, mention the problems you had during or after surgery?
I have had 4 shoulder surgeries. 2 surgeries on each arm. My right just fully dislocated again last week and my left is still always in pain. Surgery is a waste of time and money in my opinion. 7 years of my life down the drain.
What if it's a posterior dislocation . With a possible fracture? No other testing was done other than the ER x-ray. Im 42. It's been 6 months. Still have pain couldn't finish therapy due to neck issues caused when they put it back in place. 😖
I'm 45 years old and took a fall with my arm extended and had a anterior dislocation. I am active and I workout regularly and really it was a freak accident. The x-rays were good and i am scheduled for a orthography MRI. I really don't fell like I tore anything. I actually reduced the shoulder right after it happened by pulling on an oh shit bar on my truck. I have had previous rotator cuff surgery. The was a big knot on the top of the shoulder where the trap would insert but ice has reduced the size of that as well. I really haven't had to take pain medication either. What are my chances of full recovery. Pain mostly in rear delt and scapula. Thanks.
Hello Doctor, many many thanks for making such like a great video.I am 20 years old.My right shoulder dislocated almost 5 times.Three times in 2014, one time in 2015.And last on 20March, 2018 when I was sleeping.Almost Two times dislocation occurred when I am sleeping.Yet my hand isn't free. Have I needed any surgery for this?
Hello doc. What do you mean by 70%? Under what circumstances? Is it when I took a hard fall again or just by doing daily activities? Can you please explain further? Thanks in advance doc. Greetings from the Philippines!!
Once it pops out, you damage your ligaments which are responsabile to keep your shoulder in place so the chance of re dislocation Is high like 60-70 per cent. If you dislocate more than once it will keep happening.
well i’m 16 and i dislocated my left shoulder fighting , i’m almost 100% i’ll be in some type of physical altercation again so this video didn’t comfort me so much , it wasn’t from throwin a punch though it could’ve been from that too , i was getting some punches in when this guy picked me up because he was on the bigger side and when he dropped me on the ground i tried to break my fall with my left shoulder , it also didn’t dislocate immediately it happened about 3 hours later i reached across my body to the right side and it just popped out
Ive had 10 dislocations in less than year went to a specialist he said he wont do surgery until it wont go back in but ik im ready for it it wont stop popping out
I was around 16 or 17 on my first one, leaning on my folded arms - Snap. It snapped back by itself as I was wondering WTF just happened. Second one (different arm) happened during a car accident. I saw that we're about to crash and put my hands on the dashboard - Snap. Walked out the car without being able to move my arm. It snapped back after a few seconds. Had another one at age 20 during a rugby match just as the game started. Continued playing that night. Fast forward - 2 months ago. I'm 29. I'm at a bar. After doing leg day, my legs gave in as I was walking over a plank. I fell straight to the floor. I tried to get up but felt like my arm was paralyzed. Didn't take this seriously. I had even forgotten that ones shoulder can dislocate. A month later, I'm at the gym. I'm waiting for this lady to finish at a machine so I can train my triceps. I decided to stretch at bit. The same arm I fell on, suddenly got paralyzed - Snap. I know this feeling. I reacted so much that everyone looked at me. You know when you burnt your finger and jump up? That kind of reaction. There I was, holding my shoulder. It snapped back. Then me telling everyone that I'm okay. Right now it's been a month and my shoulder occasionally feels a bit sore. I've hiked, sprinted, played some soccer but it hasn't snapped out again since. I don't feel like going to a doctor because I think they'll want to do surgery (for money) and I definitely don't want that. I'll see if this happens in the 3 months. If it does, then I'll consider surgery.
From the sounds of it man, you dont got a choice.. i've been told if you dislocate more than a few times you NEED surgery. You can still go on without it. But the chances of it being dislocated again is almost 100% im sure. But think it through ! Hope you do well
Thank you Doctors, I am 34 n I am working I n MNC, I am planning to do surgery, are there any side effects post surgery or will there be any kind of restrictions for me.
Doctor!! I have more than 30 dislocation but myself adjusted all the time ! Finally I decided to check what is the reason behind it ? I had a larajet surgery !! Now I have no dislocations But I like to play games and some activities !! as you said I have poping and my bone is have little less bone for friction caused for dislocation !! Please tell me that can my bone grow? and I have to get more stability and pain less !!!
i dislocated BOTH my shoulders TWICE (2x2 yeah you read that right) and the last dislocation was because i slept on my left shoulder. the doctors said that when i dislocate a shoulder for the 3rd time i might need to get surgery but its hard for me physically because i used to lift weights and be active but due to the weakness in my shoulders all i can do is jog but i dont like jogging LOL so i gained a lot of weight any advice on this thanks in advance
oh no I think I will need surgery since I cannot move my forearm back after I dislocated my shoulder I will wait a few more weeks. I had a nasty fall from off a 3 foot platform
I did see the Orthopedic 1st week after dislocation. he told me to go to PT for 6 weeks but I ran out of money. after 3 visits, it was either eat and get gas to go to work or go to PT. he didn't see anything that alarmed him from the ER xrays, no broken bones.
Not a doctor but I'm pretty sure an NHL player Vladimir Tarasenko got 3 surgeries on the same shoulder after continuing to have issues with dislocations.
I dislocated 1st time about 10 years ago, the 2nd time it happened about 5 years. I couldn't play baseball cause i can't throw the ball anymore, it hurts right when I'm making the effort, i can't play basketball cause i can't pull the ball (that's the reason for the second dislocation). I wake up sometimes with my right arm hurting and sometimes feels numb, i guess it's popped out while sleeping and popped back in place i usually sleep over my right arm or i have it close to my body but i always have that fear it's gonna pop out
This was me when I was sleeping or waking up I'm 42 I had surgery when I was 17 they said that they had to fold the front ligament in half and sew it together. Never dislocated my shoulder again
Hello Doctor, I'm 16 years old and I wrestle and play football I have dislocated my left shoulder twice in the span of 11 months due to playing football, I have not participated in any physical sport since my second dislocation,I want to know you're opinion if I would need surgery or if the physical therapy would be good enough to come back and play sports again,or if after these two dislocations on the same shoulder would be the end to my career in sports
Sadly I think I need surgery 😓 if I work out and I'm in top shape I'm good but if I don't my shoulders are useless pressure / resistance etc will dislocate my shoulders my left is worse then my right shoulder but they both dislocate from time to time depending on how much I work out :/
I have had 9 dislocations in 14 years (I'm now 31). I did go to a physical therapist after my last dislocation (indoor rock climbing) and she said that surgery wasn't ideal because I use my shoulders improperly and there isn't any structural damage. She said since I use my shoulders improperly I'd likely still dislocate it again after surgery and recommended reteaching myself how to move my shoulders properly. I feel my instincts will always use my shoulders incorrectly. She recommended rehabbing it on a regular basis, but also I struggle keeping that up. I am very active and I want to do those activities I once did. Should I get reevaluated? Also, are there any recommended shoulder braces/supports that can help reduce the chance of dislocation?
perhaps it is the reduced weak Deltoid and Triceps muscles which are causing the repeated shoulder dislocation issue. If it is the case, I can show you how to use an effective physical therapy to fix it, since I used to suffer from that. My advises are all free. You can use my this method to check your case: Take off your shirt and bow your upper body. Relax and let your arms hang down naturally toward the ground. Check if the sides of your shoulder have bones sticking out without being wrapped by muscles. You can compare the sides of your shoulder with a healthy shoulder. A normal healthy shoulder has Deltoid muscles wrapping the side bones so that the side bones are not exposed when your arm hangs down toward the ground. I can be contacted at wyatt1115@gmail.com if you are interested.
After how much time of a dislocation can I go for surgery? Like can I immediately go for surgery after reduction/relocation or I need to undergo the 3 week sling support + 6 week physiitherepy period and only after that I get to have surgery ?
I have an interesting case with my shoulder dislocation. So I dislocated my shoulder when I was 13 and after that it has popped out numerous amount of times. I'm a very active person and it makes sense how I'm very prone to reinjury. Over the years, I strengthen my shoulder by a vast amount. Currently I'm 24, I'm able to bench 100lbs over my weight, participate in the Army, able to do a lot of pull ups, muscles ups, climb and even break dance. It still occasionally pops usually from accidental falls now instead of overreaching. Pain goes away in about 2 weeks and another 2 weeks after I'm back at my full max strength again. Do I really need surgery? or is it better that I live with what I have? I also know how to safely relocate my shoulder back in with relatively no pain when it happens. I'm quite comfortable the way I am although I'm a always cautious about it.
I'm the exact same way as you and been doing it that way for years now, except mine falls right back into place on its own. Im 29 and my only concern is, if that lifestyle will cause permanent damage in my later years.
Im on the same boat. I been doing powerlifting and strongman training in the past and havent had a problem till recently where it would pop out from a fall or something so minor and stupid. My shoulder popped out so many times before i did weight training where dont feel pain but i been training with weights for so many years and nothing popped out. I been benching 405 for reps and shoulder pressing 270 for reps and nothing bad happened. Just last week i fell and my shoulder came out and i thought with all my years of training i was done with all that. Now im wondering if i should get surgery again. (Had shoulder surgery on both shoulders from dislocation in high school) im so annoyed that this is still problematic when i thought i was in the clear
I am trying to figure out how secure my shoulder is post dislocation, and if I can go on without surgery. I have had one dislocation 4 years ago playing basketball and a subluxation about 1 year ago playing sports as well. I have been going to PT for over a year and working out 5 days a week in my free time. How do I know how high my level of risk is for dislocation again? P.T has given me positive feedback but still worried about what I can and shouldn't do. Thanks
I am 44, I slipped on ice and dislocated my shoulder - a few days later I went to Jiu Jitsu and dislocated it again. I have to see a surgeon this Monday. My question is, I am not young, but I am active in combat sports, does the likelihood go up, although I'm not young, for another dislocation? Thanks.
This is kinda funny but i get my dislocation in the most nonsense ways. I once coughed so bad then I got dislocated. I do not have the money for the operation so is it possible to cure it thru PT?
if you do your thera band exercise continuously you may have good luck but it's something you need to do for life, if I stop doing mine for a while ill get a dislocation
Hi I dislocated my shoulder twice in a wrestling match before they ended it and I want to know how long should I let my shoulder heal before I lift heavy weights again thanks.
Hi I'm an 18 year old guy and I had an anterior dislocation on my left shoulder 2 weeks ago... I was just wondering when could I get back to working out and if there are some exercises that I should avoid doing to make sure I don't dislocate it for the second time.. thing is my life is based around the gym and now I can't work out 😓 when can I get back to the gym and when will I be 100%?
I dislocated mine 20 years ago but now I've got like a deep pain in that shoulder, is that normal from dislocating it years ago and can I get it fixed to make this dull ache go away?
I'm 18 and a gymnast, I've dislocated my shoulder 5 times then had surgery and 10 months after surgery I dislocated 3 more times will I ever be able to get back into gymnastics ? gymnastics means everything to me and I love doing it so if there's any way for me to heal and get back into it I would love that
hello i'm 22 years old. i dislocated my right hand in several times. I can easily turn it in it's position. My question is how to avoid the dislocation again? what shall i do? thank you
Hello sir! it was really informative..but i would to know what would be the case in case of a shoulder subluxation(for the first time) which happenened to me recently but i didn't go to any doctor. i m 24
Hello I am 20 years old and dislocated my shoulder initially skateboarding last year. After several other incidents of it happening surfing I decided to have it operated on. After recovery and several months of professional PT I returned to normal activities as recommended by the doctor. Unfortunately after several months of feeling great my same shoulder has popped out again. It feels weak and displaced when pressure is applied to it. Just wondering what your professional opinion would be for the next step.. Thanks
Conor DeCastro exactly the same thing happened to me, operated my shoulder 1 year ago due to it continously jumped out of socket and last week it popped out after i fell with all my weight from standing position and it has happened 3 more times during this one week.. Im 21 yrs old.
But it seems somehow like the shoulder is not popping all the way out, feels kinda like i jumps out half and i cant move it i start to panic but then it somehow gets back to normal again within seconds without me having to correct it.
I have the exact same problem. Had a surgery before and it popped out again after an unlucky fall. Now it pops out with random unlucky movements. But it always jumps back in after max 40 seconds and does not feel completely dislocated somehow. Unsure what to do right now, is another surgery worth it ?
I'm 28...it dislocated since 2010 for more than 10 times. I have hypermobility in my joints (diagnosed in two countries by great doctors). Both said that I should do a surgery cuz it's gonna keep coming out, but they also said that the surgery will fix it about 80 % and that it might come out after it as well. I'm not going to surgery cuz the recovery sucks. Every time it pops out I let it recover. I have challenges concerning the amount of time I can go without it popping out. It's not easy, but I'm not gonna let anyone touch that area since it's just gonna help me, not solve it. BTW: I do PT exercises and strengthening plus massages
hello sir.. i hv dislocated my left shoulder many times while playing. .i underwent PT also..but it did not work .some times it happens durimg sleep also.. ..is it the time for surgery? i m literally tired of it now.
I'm 13 and I play competitive soccer as a goalie and I I've dislocated my shoulder twice should I take more per caution playing sports I also got a dent in my bone the first time
I sneeze and my shoulder pops out and has about 9 times over the last 5 years also periodically my arm will go numb and it feels like pins are coming out of my fingers.
That's a lot... From my experience, I can tell you that it will become much better if you start strengthening your shoulder and once you are comfortable with your training, move on to mobility training and strength training for your whole body to avoid muscle imbalances that could again lead to injuries. From then on don't stop training. Ever.

Hey so growing up I've dislocated my left shoulder about 9 times before having surgery 9 years ago. I had a bankart repair done. My shoulder had structural damage to the "ball" part. I dislocated my left shoulder 3 days ago doing archery, but my shoulder feels way better than all the other times I've done it. Also helps that I was able to put it in fairly quickly. My question is should I treat this as a "new" shoulder since it has had work done on before and just stick with rehab and exercise, or consider going in for another operation?
hey i dislocated my shoulder about a week ago. how long should i wait until i get back to gym??( i prefer heavy lifting) and can i do powerlifting after 2-3 years?

my shoulder gets stronger over time and out of nowhere i do something and it happens again and it happened 5 times within a year but the question is will surgery really help or will it make my shoulder hurt over time and not be able to do things like i used to?
Its abit late but I have the same problems. Therapist told me that the surrounding muscles stregnthen but its the ligaments that are stretched resulting in repeat dislocations
Completely Dislocated my shoulder 1 year ago, had to go to the hospital for them to push it back in. but still experiencing intermittent anterior shoulder pain with shoulder abduction and flexion throughout this 1 year. It is recently getting worse and annoying. Any idea what is this condition? Why is it not recovering even after so long? And what can I do to help it recover? Thankyou so much!
I am 16, last year i dislocated my shoulder and it recovered and i was going in the gym and i did alot of exercises even lifted 60 kilograms on the bench and nothing happened. YESTERDAY I think i dislocated it again but not fully because it didnt pop out completely it returned to its natural position by itself in 30 minutes now i only feel pain and i am afraid to do anything with it I dont know how it dislocated because it dislocated when i jumped in the water from a boat and thats all.

Good stuff!

It sucks I can't go back to training mma but it is what it is
How is it now? Have you had surgery? I’m 27, and I just dislocated mine ten days ago. It’s still very unstable. I start therapy on Tuesday.
I dislocated yet again last week, nownits time for a MRI and proper PT. It's a heartbreak, I was about to pre-test for 2nd degree BB. Looks likw that a lot further away now.

How’s it feeling so far?
How are you now? Did you have surgery?

That apprehension test freaks me out, just dislocated about 12 days ago.
This answered a lot of my questions
as long as I do my thera band shoulder exercises my shoulder doesn't dislocate but what happens is that my shoulder feels great so I forget to do them then a month or 2 later Ill get some warning signs and if I don't start doing PT again it will dislocate.
Maybe because your technique is good ;p
I did my second MMA lesson 1 week ago and I didn't have good technique so it dislocated.
My first dislocation is about 3 years ago.

Have you done surgery??
Great, I'm going to need surgery.

Can you make a video showing how to put back a dislocated shoulder back by ourself
(if it's possible)
Bend over, pull on the sole of the foot with your palm facing inwards.
Easiest way is to sit in the stretch position, pull one leg in, grip the leg almost in a hugging position and lean back, it will pop back into place
I have a same problem
How is it now? Did you have surgery?

I couldn't play baseball, basketball or anything else that required my arms. I popped it twice but i can't throw the baseball or pull the basketball which was the second reason I popped it out.

Thank you.
Similar thing happened to me last month.. get the best possible doctor and get the MRI IMO
Thank you.

I have had 4 shoulder surgeries. 2 surgeries on each arm. My right just fully dislocated again last week and my left is still always in pain. Surgery is a waste of time and money in my opinion. 7 years of my life down the drain.
Update?
It is a terrible ailment to have dislocated shoulder and arms.
Thanks man
What if it's a posterior dislocation . With a possible fracture? No other testing was done other than the ER x-ray. Im 42. It's been 6 months. Still have pain couldn't finish therapy due to neck issues caused when they put it back in place. 😖
I 'thought' mine was dislocated. It turned out that it was severely hyper-extended. Rear delt, that is.
Thanks.
What ended up happening?
I would like to know too. Your story is similar to mine. How are you doing now?

Hope you do well

oh no I think I will need surgery since I cannot move my forearm back after I dislocated my shoulder I will wait a few more weeks.
Can you have two surgeries in the same shoulder if it dislocates after surgery?

What about hypermobility, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome? I can dislocate and still touch my other shoulder.

My shoulder will dislocate about 3-4 times in a month! Happens last week!
Def get a surgery
If you have Ehlers-Danlos it’s going to happen as well
Sadly I think I need surgery 😓 if I work out and I'm in top shape I'm good but if I don't my shoulders are useless pressure / resistance etc will dislocate my shoulders my left is worse then my right shoulder but they both dislocate from time to time depending on how much I work out :/
I have dislocation problem with me shoulder
@@Jayceofbasse Hey man, just wondering if you ever decided to have surgery again?
@@Jayceofbasse from your conclusion. Is better to fix it naturally with straitening. Or Surgery???
@@Will-ex7uv i havent pulled the trigger just yet but another incident like that and i might have to.
what happen after the surgery ?
I am trying to figure out how secure my shoulder is post dislocation, and if I can go on without surgery. I have had one dislocation 4 years ago playing basketball and a subluxation about 1 year ago playing sports as well. I have been going to PT for over a year and working out 5 days a week in my free time. How do I know how high my level of risk is for dislocation again? P.T has given me positive feedback but still worried about what I can and shouldn't do. Thanks
33 not planning on playing sports either, first dislocation happened when I was 26
hey how you doing @@jamesrivoli684? your shoulder its better now?
I am 44, I slipped on ice and dislocated my shoulder - a few days later I went to Jiu Jitsu and dislocated it again. I have to see a surgeon this Monday.
My question is, I am not young, but I am active in combat sports, does the likelihood go up, although I'm not young, for another dislocation?
Thanks.
what was the outcome?
how are you doing with your shoulder man? any updates?
This is kinda funny but i get my dislocation in the most nonsense ways. I once coughed so bad then I got dislocated. I do not have the money for the operation so is it possible to cure it thru PT?
if you do your thera band exercise continuously you may have good luck but it's something you need to do for life, if I stop doing mine for a while ill get a dislocation
If I've already dislocated my shoulder would you advise hanging from a bar stretch?
Hi I dislocated my shoulder twice in a wrestling match before they ended it and I want to know how long should I let my shoulder heal before I lift heavy weights again thanks.
When you said the tendon of the rotator cuff tears, which tendon were you referring to specifically?
Hi I'm an 18 year old guy and I had an anterior dislocation on my left shoulder 2 weeks ago...

If the dislocation stop hurting you know shits gotten serious😃

Hello sir! it was really informative..but i would to know what would be the case in case of a shoulder subluxation(for the first time) which happenened to me recently but i didn't go to any doctor. i m 24
How did you recover ?
But it seems somehow like the shoulder is not popping all the way out, feels kinda like i jumps out half and i cant move it i start to panic but then it somehow gets back to normal again within seconds without me having to correct it.
physicaltherapyvideo u have a clue what's up?
Is there any chance also to dislocate my shoulder after the surgery? Please notice me sir. Thank you
yes
Hi sir can I do pushups after recurrent shoulder dislocation surgery

I sneeze and my shoulder pops out and has about 9 times over the last 5 years also periodically my arm will go numb and it feels like pins are coming out of my fingers.
so fucking glad this hasn't happened to just me
I dislocated my shoulder 20+ times last year and like 12+ times this year... do I need surgery or will it heal on its own
That's a lot... From my experience, I can tell you that it will become much better if you start strengthening your shoulder and once you are comfortable with your training, move on to mobility training and strength training for your whole body to avoid muscle imbalances that could again lead to injuries. From then on don't stop training. Ever.
Update?
Did you end up getting surgery
