What Porter did is like a NASCAR driver betting on himself to lose, and then driving in the race with the parking brake on.
Except porter probably wouldn’t have even qualified for a race anyways lol
The ending of this clip was genius 🤣 Pat about to go off on Windy
Give the editor a raise
They said bro can’t even watch another game
Federal crime wont let him either
Dude had a gambling addiction not just a problem
What?
At least he can bet now with a clean conscious! From his couch
NO WAY!!! 😲
NBA: "You are destroying the integrity of the game by manipulating the outcome? Only we can do that!"
The amount of flopping that goes on, in my opinion, is just as manipulative to the game but the league does virtually nothing about it. Theyll give a 2000 dollar punishment which is nothing to these guys
Nah, it's the refs who arbitrarily manipulate the game with calls in order to make games closer and more exciting so as to boost ratings....
If people only knew the accuracy of this comment.!!!! HAHAHA
😂😂😂 bro you in 🎯
@@JJ_5289 Luka is using WWF flops to get attention. I saw him jump in the air, as he was being held to extenuate the foul last game.
Jontay Porter should be known as the Wasted Dream.. he wasted the NBA dream
That's a perfect 30 for 30 right there
"his brother's gonna disown him" 😂
Hope it doesn't affect his brothers playoff performance vs LAL
MPJ’s other brother just got sentenced to jail for a DUI homicide.
@@jaywillie7840dam
"no one's gonna miss him" 😂
gambling is a scourge of society and to pretend it doesn’t ruin countless lives is beyond ignorant.
It blows my mind how adults can consciously promote gambling. You have former addicts of drugs or alcohol who have sponsorship deals with gambling companies. It's sickening. These are evil people with no morals.
Yup the only reason this is a headline is because the house was losing money because these betting sites scam literally all the time
This comment is brought to you by Fan Duel
Driving cars ruins lives too
Who cares what irresponsible adults do with their money
Okay now when is Scott foster next
What were the odds that he would get a lifetime ban?
Very high because he's throwing games. Betting to win is arrogant but understandable, betting to lose is just greed.
Edit: I just got the joke. 😂
Whatever the odds are, I’m taking the over lol
-250 😂
without knowing he was guilty.-250
knowing his guilt. -25000
Even worse betting his own team to lose WTH lmao
The end of this video is actually hilarious! LOL
And Scott foster?
NBA fans - 'betting is going to ruin the integrity of the league!'
Same NBA fans - 'The NBA is being hypocritical banning Porter!'
The guy altered his performance, outcomes of games. If a regular joe committed insider trading (closest equivalent I could think of) he/she would get prison time.
Prisons should be illegal.
the difference being NBA is allowed to fix the outcome of games. Pro sports in US are an entertainment. Sometimes it's scripted. Like a TV Show. It's just that they don't like someone else doing it. And sports betting made it even more interesting. Wonder if betting was legal in 2000s, how would those NBA vs Kings, and NBA vs Blazers series end
Thats where you cut the video?
Unless you're an NBA ref, then it's ok to bet as much as you wan't.
The NBA rules specifically state and I know Windy said this that no one in an NBA organization can bet on the NBA in any fashion.
I have a close friend who works for the Spurs and that rule is there.
I hope you mean Not including players
“We love sports gambling” 😂 had to get that in there right at the end.
This is going to make for a good 30 for 30 documentary. The amount of gambling busts in this last year across sports has been interesting. NFL, NBA, MLB, College basketball, it's crazy
I don't think it's just betting on losing / underperforming. I also think its because the NBA had a scandal before opening themselves up to legal online sports betting.
I don’t think Tim Donahue was acting alone. I am sure the league had tampered with playoff series outcomes. Why are they pushing gambling and prop bets? Pure greed. They saw all the money changing hands and decided they wanted in on it.
The NBA had 2 major betting scandals in the 1950s and 60s. Look up a guy named Connie Hawkins and read that story.
Also look up a guy named Jack Molinas
Only thing I’m mad about is them freezing a 1 million dollar bet because when you win some bets they try they best to see if a player hit a stat and take your money away
You’d me mad too if you saw anyone bet $80K on Jontay Porter
It was obvious. Some of these prop bets get no action and then some former 10-day contract player gets a massive wager put on him and then takes himself out of the game?
I doubt they are just going to freeze some random bet that hits on long odds.
@@Delaretro_he’s a bad player. They bet the under on everything. That’s good betting strategy.
Not saying he’s innocent, but generally speaking, betting unders on bad players is common.
@@DEGENERATE_sendit But a 7 leg player prop on Jontay unders for 80k is obviously quite outlandish. Half of his lines are 0.5 lol
What's the outro song name
Stuff like this is happening every night, the bettors and players just aren't so blatant. There's leverage to be had on everyone, and there's too much money at stake to think it's not going to happen.
NBA made a profound mistake getting in bed with the sports books. The gambling programming is disgusting and will further tank the ratings, leading to even worse programming and a downwatd spiral.
short term windfall but dooming the futur3, where have we seen this before?
Didn’t Evander Kane did something like this a few years ago in the NHL? He’s still playing Hockey in the League, I remember hearing he was suspended for Gambling against his Team and his Team Traded him
@Ayo. He was fully investigated by the NHL and he was cleared however he did get a private admonishment from the commissioner
Make gambling legal = consequences
“In the league for a cup of coffee” I’m done.
No league, company or institution is immune to human frailties
If he wasn't so greedy he might have got away with it. 80k bet to win 1.1 million? 😂😂
Betting is always going to be a thing, but it would be prudent to pump the brakes a little on the parlays and props.
Sports gambling has already ruined sports. Just look at all the phantom calls
that’s not because of sports gambling, the leagues have been manipulated for 50+ years. Seeing people today just realizing it is manipulated and then thinking this some new thing because of sports gambling is actually hilarious. Y’all are so braindead
nothing new is happening at all.
Someone check Jontay right now.
Check, or check on? 😭
@@DaleJones-gn6bi oh so I have a grammar police now. Good for you. Keep it up!
Thank you. I am honored to help catch those who can’t tipe their words correctly
@@DaleJones-gn6bioh I see you “help”. UA-cam has a helpline now.
*Your videos are always very informative and entertaining, many Thanks for that 😊*
Jontay Porter betting against his team is proof that the Raptors (and other NBA teams) tank in a way that involves direct instructions to coaches AND players. Focusing on employees for using the tank games information and not the owners and GMs for creating them is disturbing. 🤔
No it's not. Jontay faked an injury
@@lumpyrex007 Correct, but he also made several bets that his team would lose. How could he 100% know the team would lose when he's not a key player that can manipulate the outcome? 🤔
@@mrdmajor
Fair point
Basketball is already ruined. It's such a boring game anymore. Almost half their shots are three-pointers. The game is a joke. Ratings are down. The fact that they partner with these gambling sites in my opinion. They deserve this and future gambling scandals
And soccer flops. When did basketball get players falling to the ground after any contact?
TV ratings are an old 90's metric to define success.
In actual dollar revenue and global popularity, the NBA is at its peak now.
Nba has never been hotter. Thr game is more skilled than ever and we have 10 times the superstar players than any era before
Betting on maybe making 20K vs risking a career where you are potentially paid millions is a certified moron move
Play stupid games win stupid prizes. My dad has a severe gambling issue so I know firsthand how bad the addiction is. Porter should've been getting help instead of screwing his NBA career away.
4:32 - if bet was lost, should the sports book return the funds to the bettor?
Why are they accepting it in the first place?
That what I want to know if they accepted the bet they should pay , that's bull 🤬 , because they should not have taken that bet, once you take it honor it.
Guys - teams like Raptors were tanking on purpose - is that NOT altering performance?? What about Cavs purposely losing on last day of regular season (they pulled their starters mid 3rd quarter) to ensure they played the Magic?
If an individual does it, its a crime...if a team is directed to tank by management, it's smart?
Of COURSE WINDHORST is a Tottenham Fan 😂😂😂.
What about the cars? I thought I would see more than 30 seconds 😢
This is bad for MPJ
His other brother also just got sentenced to prison for DUI homicide. I feel bad for MPJ
Also consider the frequency. He was caught for this activity which happened in a short amount of time. But there's no telling how much we don't know and how much other betting he was doing. A 10 day NBA contract is $200k. He had a great income and was still doing this. Seems like someone heavily addicted, which usually involves recklessness and frequency. There's no telling what his gambling debts were from his G League time.
For life ha! So harsh! I think it should be Draymond Green that receives a lifetime ban, not Porter
Jontay Porter for 3!
You bet!
Someone find a video of that if it exists 😂
They only caught him quickly because the betting agency lost
it was really a red flag situation. there's no way around it.
Yeah there is more of this, if you watch some of these games you can tell refs are in on it. Everyone sees it
Bookie knew the fix was in and ratted him out. What did he think would happen, they pay him??!
Betting ruin sports as we know it
At least he can do full time gambling now! His nba career was getting in the way
Guy on the right looks like he’s fighting to stay awake
Don't touch the third rail. He touched, now he is gone.
Biting the hand that feeds you.
those mofo listed morant as questionable when I tried to see him against the clips and next day they played the lakers. Ofc he plays the lakers game cuz that's where the money is at.
6:20 'they've regulated it to protect people from themselves.' LOLLLLLLLLLLL Like the tobacco companies in the 60s and 70s? Yes, sports gambling on a smartphone...nothing can go wrong with people with gambling addictions now can it?
As much as the NBA has it's own faults and as much as they are trying to make an example out of this guy.. I'm sorry but this was just dumb as f***. Come on man... I usually always say that we all deserve a sexind chance sometimes.. This dude put himself in a position where he can't even have that (at least not in basketball). He had the opportunity to stay in the league and make a kiving out of this. How many people can only dream of that... What a shame and what an absolute stupid thing to do.
Hi
This hurts so much as a Raptors fan
Why?
Nah
Of course it had to be a clown on my Raptors. 🤷🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
Hoodie Windy🫡
Crazy how the other Porter brother didn't get banned from life though for killing someone while drunk behind the wheel. Weird justice system we have.
What? He was sentenced in a court of law he has no connection to the NBA. Unless you’re just trying to say he should’ve received more time for the DUI man slaughter because I agree
@@trytinn Ya, sorry that wasn't a clear message. My point is I'm sick of rich people getting off doing heinous things and getting light sentences.
You can bet he's gonna be taking some people down with him. He's about to sing like a canary!
Windy on ozempic?
He'll play in China or Australia or Europe.
He’s a spurs fan?
Windy lookin slim! Wow congrats!
Yeah right, why not ban refs as well. Tssss
You reap what you sow bro😅😂
Stop coming down on the NBA when u walk into a nba locker room they are signs saying no gambling they are meetings saying no gambling, obviously he gambled before he made the league because he didn’t even make any money anyways so it’s porter fault and no one else
He prolly cant even text his brother
go big or go home
Y'all tell athletes to "Bet on yourself" then the guy does just that and you punish him for it.
🤣🤣🤣
Gambling starts in high school, a local team was caught point shaving.
If they remove Karl Malone...
They sid go ahead and do absolutely anything else well fine you msybe snd forget about it
And Ohtani is somehow still playing baseball. 🙄
Shohei Ohtani is one of a kind this bench player for the Raptors who wasn't even going to last in the NBA.
Windy in a Hoodie
Windy on Ozempic
Get the man some help. ESPN cheats all the time. Look at college football. Sick of it. Blame one person for yall mess😂😂😂😂😂
Not stunning, stop reaching
WWE is more legit than NBA and NFL
He should NEVER play in the league
😂😂😂😂😂
I seriously hate that guy on the right, every time McAffey does these shows, he’s never actually there. You would think he’s some sexual predator whose not allowed to be out in public smh
Address that legend By the name AJ HAWK and he always comes on the second hour bro
AJ Hawk??
He’s the most toxic individual to walk the land.
He'll just go overseas
It sounds like he’s not allowed since the nba is associated with most leagues around the world. We’ll see tho
@@HenryStan you have a point
Porter’s banned for life because of bets but LeBron taking PEDs is not a problem. Love the consistency, Adam Silver.
This is the NBA's version of Pete Rose.
Pete Rose didn't do what this guy did.....
Not even close
So, Adam Silver has the guts to ban Porter for life, something I don't have a problem with, but does anyone think Silver would have acted differently if this were a superstar? If Silver were truly concerned about this issue why is the league in bed with all these gambling entities?
