I searched for these videos because I wondered how you grow enough food using mostly a community garden plot. I love watching you preserve the food but it's also neat to see where you grow it. I'm a community gardener where I live too. I love my current plot as it's big enough to feed the two of us. The garden I'm in now has pretty big plots of about 12x12 which is almost enough with year round gardening. Unfortunately we can't get a second plot because so many people want to garden they don't let us have another plot in the same city.

hi there! i’ve been watching you guys pretty much since you started youtube- you are such inspirations
I was wondering how early did you start your corn indoors? I’ve read that you should start direct sow- which never works for me with all of the bunnies around, so just trying to get my seeds ready for this season

Awesome! So glad you’re enjoying the videos 🙂. We usually start our corn in seedling trays about 3-4 weeks before planting it outside. Do you know what you’re average last frost date is? We recommend just counting back from that to determine when to start the seeds

In terms of time management how do you guys do? How much time per week would you say you guys take to grow your food?
    Thank you, love from Portugal

I love it. What is the variety of corn you are growing? I didn't catch the name in the video.

Thanks Elias! We're going a whole lot of Wapsi Valley which is a dent corn and were growing Painted Mountain flour corn and Bear Paw popcorn at our home garden.

@@HomegrownHandgathered that's awesome. Hopefully you will have lots of corn this fall. I'm doing two types of dent corn this year too.

I've seen other gardeners keep rodents away by growing onions among the plants
