Cervical dislocation is one of the most humane methods of house sparrow and starling euthanasia. This technique is used for conservation purposes. Starlings and house sparrows are non-native invasive species in North America. They're not just a feeder pest, they are a major transmitter of avian disease and routinely kill native adult and baby birds. They are one of the biggest reasons purple martins have become almost entirely dependent on humans for nesting.
When left unchecked, invasive species can lead to a native species becoming endangered or even extinct. In fact, this happens on islands quite a bit.
If you're starting to learn about control methods for these birds, there are more videos on this channel. Another amazing channel to visit is the Backyard Birds channel. Jeff has been caring for native cavity nesters for years and has put together amazing videos to help with your conservation efforts: / backyardbirdsus
