Awesome easy to follow instructions! I work for an aerospace manufacturer and creating these combination charts are a must and also a "wow" factor during meetings :) thank you.
Thanks. Nice way of presentation. Suppose I paste special this dynamic chart in ppt, will this check box work? (without double clicking the chart and working in the xls)
Doug, I think your videos are simply great and very easy to follow. So thanks a bunch, I had done question, is this possible on Power Point 2010 with check boxes, could you make a video.
Thats really nice of you and also very helpful to me when show up the problem in my work. However, When I use the group box I cant group the check box together. Do you know the reason the quick rep for me. Thanks in advance
Great video. Two points: 1. If you want to hide those Checkbox/True/False cells, reformat as special and type ";;;". So, three semicolons. 2. Is there a way to keep the left-side scaling firm at all?
For #1, thanks for adding knowledge to the thread! For #2 I'm not sure I understand the question, but if it is keeping the left axis value maximum static, that would be to right click the Y axis, format axis and set it at some maximum value so it doesn't changed on each chart selection.
Yep, thanks Doug. I tried it after I posted the question and, as in your video, if you have 'Auto' set, it'll do dynamic scaling. But, like you said, you can set values to keep the charts static. Thanks again!
Hi! Thanks for the very interesting and useful tutorial. However, after your video I have been struggling with the secondary axis introduced at the end of the tutorial. When unchecking the profits-checkbox, the secondary axis does not dissapear, but shows only zeros and ones which is not very neat. I would be very thankful if you have any solution on how to remove the secondary axis when the profit-checkbox is unchecked. All the best!
It depends on how you use Pivot Charts, but user friendly options include slicers to help filter data. If want to explore slicers I have a video here at ua-cam.com/video/jC98mWjI3ZA/v-deo.html
Great my Dear, kindly can we use product A and Product B and profit for one sales representative and Make another one in same chart for products A and B and profit but for another person at the same time
Though not exactly the same scenario, maybe these video will give some insight = > ua-cam.com/video/6ekd_j0G0b0/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/taTnVeEQFSA/v-deo.html
Hi Doug H, is there a way to use this dynamic chart that allows you to change the X axis when you check, and uncheck the checkboxes? Let's say we didn't use data for the 'Years' but instead Product A was 'Vegetables' and Product B was 'Fruit'. If you checked Product A you would see Potato, Corn, Carrots etc instead of 2000, 2001, 2002, and if you unchecked that and checked Product B you would see Plum, Apple, Orange etc. I know the configuration of the table may need to be altered slightly. Does that make sense and could you please do a tutorial of how I could achieve that? I appreciate your tutorials so much and gain so much from them. PS: I am so sorry that my comment posted so many times previously. I was posting from my phone and it said it was unable to post my comment so I kept trying, only to get on my laptop and see multiple posts - of which I ended up deleting them all and not leaving the original! Fail. ;P
I can see this as helpful in creating a dashboard but not practical if you have to repeatedly set it up again as the data changes. You would have to recreate the logic table, wouldn't you? Maybe the same effect could be achieved with slicers.
Simple, easy and best to understand. Thanks Doug.
Doug, how smart you are. You're my hero. You gave me a perfect solution to create a interactive dashboard. Thanks a lot.

Hi Surrya Shovanesh, thanks for the comment; will look into it 🙂

Hi Justin White, thanks for the comment!
It's possible to combine this with offset function to create an dynamic chart?
You can try it with this scrolling table ua-cam.com/video/Z7tdtJsaVUI/v-deo.html
Is there any way to add two data validation list in the same column of a google sheet , and two list must be slelectable @ the same time
don't know about google sheets
excellent
Thanks!
great....
Awesome
How do I do the same thing but instead of using check boxes I want to use drop down lists?
Try this video ua-cam.com/video/lCsvSdk4Tro/v-deo.html
Nice video but no so perfect if you insert chart data labels.
Why not just use Charts("X").SeriesCollection(X).Format.Line.Visible = True or False?
Hi Marek, thanks for the comment!
