Sky sports (owned by American conglomerate Comcast) , the very entity that started the Americanization of English football is complaining about it all of sudden because Haaland signed a long term contract. Really? 😄
I personally have no issue with the contract. I mean Haaland is a massive asset and this way it gives City the control if he ever wants to leave. Removes the threat of a player running down his contract like a lot of top players have done over recent times.
@ I literally said “when Cole Palmer signed”, that is exactly at the time when he signed. They waited until Haaland signed for Man City to bring this up but Cole Palmer and Nicholas Jackson signed until 2033 and nobody thought it was Americanized then?
It's Americanisation of English football.....don't loop leagues who didn't abandon their fa's to form a league based on overcharging fans and getting as much money with prem please....thank you

Too a degree I agree with the Americanisation comment but it may also be the pendulum swinging back. Teams used to comprise of players who remained with their clubs forever. At some point, it became more acceptable for players to be sold to other clubs and that became the norm. Maybe now, things may return to the time players identified themselves with a certain club and became a recognised part of their history. I mean, what club should Ronaldo be identified with when he retires from football? Man Utd, Real Madrid, his current club? Messi was best known at Barcelona, but then there was PSG. Mbappé? I am a long time fan of an NHL club and as I was growing up, the players remained basically the same year after year. Now, they are from all over the place and come and go when the business decides there's a profit to be made. Maybe it's time for clubs to become recognisable again.
And in a parallel universe, Sky Sports are hailing the new 14yr contract just handed to Mo Salah at Liverpool. "Isn't this great for soccer... sorry, football", Sky is saying.
Haaland's contract didn't introduce a long contract like Chelsea did. I'm sure Cole Palmer's new contract totals around 9 years, but it is certainly ongoing. Which was eventually mentioned
Is called securing your assets. Halaand is a huge investment and the contract safeguards club’s investment. I’m sure if he wants to leave he’d be available!
As with the US sometimes players get serious injuries or run into off field problems. His father had a knee injury that effective ended career at top level.
When chelsea do something like that it's normal but when city do something like that england and the premier league are on fire...always looking for something to put city in a bad position
Why do people have problems when man city dose something???? Cool parmer has a long term contract nobody said s…. Now everyone was to go on because it’s man city
@josephashipala6249 just that people will focus more on this because it's one of the biggest contracts in football, if not the biggest, when you look at the finances over the duration of it. Chelsea has tied down a lot of players with long contracts to beat FFP. Man City seem to not be worried about it
Employment contracts should only invole the employer and the employee. Footballers are employees too. They shouldn't have limits on how they secure their futures. There'll be clause in the contract which these clowns no nothing about.
He has guaranteed income for the next 10 years that will pay for the rest of his life. Whats stopping him from faking injuries and not wanting to play because he doesn't have to. Im not saying haaland will, but other players definitely will. And the club cant do nothing about it if the player doesn't want to leave. Just run down that contract and watch the money come in. I would
@clementine2001 yes, like the NHL and other leauges in the states. I think that could be the answer to stagnate, let's be real here, wild payments. But then you probably have to implement drafts as well.
Such a strange video. Aside from the drastic examples like a Mahomes, in American sports it's far more common for players to bounce around to different teams. Lebron is a great example. And it's one of the things people complain about the most here in the US. Fans like to see important players stay for a long time and establish a history. In some cases, build a dynasty. Very confusing content here.
😂 I'm afraid everyone does laugh at USA. After all, 46% of your population don't believe in evolution, you have the 4th largest wealth gap in the world, 3rd worst poverty rate amongst developed nations, 37% of you have a passport, only country without universal health care in the developed world....oh and Trump!
Americanisation will result in far higher season card and ticket prices. Just check out the cost of baseball, basketball and American football tickets.

Meanwhile, you have CFC, who I do work for, so trying to stay objective, who "were" in trouble themselves, sell a couple of Hotels and that is the end of that. And then we have City, 115 charges hanging over their heads and allowed to carry on as usual. "We came up with the FFP to create a level playing field", my cute butt. Sure you did....Nothing has changed the status quo and if anything it is even less fair and one-sided now, than it was before it all. They can change the rules all they like, these big Clubs pay their Lawyers millions for a reason. The big Clubs will continue to get away with it and the smaller Clubs will continue to be punished. Soon there will not be a 1st and 2nd English Division, maybe not even a Championship.... that FFP would have killed them off.
There are only 2 EPL clubs owned by Arabs that I can think of. But there is around 11 owned by Americans. Americans own a 27% stake in City with Silverlake Investments.

No one spoke when almost Chelsea’s players are on long contracts as soon as city everyone talking , grow up losers and congratulate the player . 🎉

Would be quite funny if City now got heavily punished for their alleged breaches. 9 year deal for Haaland playing in league 1 would be entertaining. 😂
One of these days, people will switch off.
Chelsea with american owner did this for years.
For years? The American owner hasn’t even owned Chelsea for 3 years yet 😂
