  • Cozumel Mexico, Cruise Port has lots to offer on your next cruise. We'll show you what's at this Mexico cruise port and give you tips & tricks for your next Cozumel cruise!
Cozumel Mexico has lots of awesome things you can do, there is a large mall that you can explore including several well known brands like Hooters, Senior Frogs and Starbucks. You can also roam around the area there with lots of great shops.
Generally here in Cozumel Mexico the cruise port is very commercial so you won't find any regional or authentic shops really unless you walk down the street some way, that said we highly recommend you do that if you are comfortable.
For those of you taking an excursion here in Cozumel we'll show you where you meet and give you a view of the cruise port and the logistics of what you'll see at this port.
    Happy Travels!

Great video! Just something I wanted to say also for ppl who will b visiting the island. So me and my husband fly to Cozumel once and sometimes twice a year (we are going again in September). I highly recommend you go on your own and not through the cruise line for places like playa mia. We have been to Cancun (just got back about 3 weeks ago) and I did want to say this. My husband is very leary when it comes to feeling safe. In Cozumel he he's completely relaxed. On our recent trip to Cancun he never really could relax when we left the resort. Cozumel is very very laid compared to other places. My husband NEVER gets anxious or feels uncomfortable in Coz and it's his (and mine) favorite place in the whole world. That being said, u can pay for entry to Playa Mia (or our favorite Mr Sancho's) and a cab fare for HALF what's charged by the cruise and the cab drivers here and very VERY different from Cancun. They actually pride themselves for being honest and not over charging like u see in Cancun a lot of times...and its (in my opinion) much easier and faster once u get off the ship to take a cab (first time ever there was on the one and only cruise we ever did and fell in love with the island and have flown back and stayed there ever since) your not waiting in these big crowds and u have plenty of cabs to take u where u need to go. And when ur ready to return, u have TONS OF CABS that stay parked at places at playa Mia and Sancho's to take u back (we were charged $12 there and $13 back) I highly encourage that u go out of the mall area and go to the downtown area where they have local shops with handmade items and they have restaurants with local food thats out of this world. PLEASE don't limit yourself for fear of safety. As I've said over the years we've met so many wonderful locals that live and work in the island and they take SO MUCH pride in being COMPLETELY different from Cancun and other places on the mainland. We felt so much safer and more relaxed than we did in Cancun so please don't be afraid to explore BUT with that said no place is 100% perfect and always use common sense when traveling in other countries. It's said that although Cozumel is right across the water from Cancun, it truly is almost like a entirly different world in Cozumel and I never understood that until I visited Cancun and discovered the difference for ourselves. Rent a Jeep, explore the island, take advantage of all your time on the island. It's beauty and local friendliness is, to us, unparalleled!

The secret to shopping cheap in Cozumel is to go to the “Supermercado” Supermarket. Go there are the prices are as close to local as it can be. That’s where the cruise ship staff goes to shop. Been to Cozumel twice and I love it!!
BTW the Supermarket is only a ten minute walk from the port and it’s very safe.

This couple usually do fine commentary on ships and destinations. On this one "they missed the boat". Virtually no information except for the Mall which is not representative of Cozumel. The "Plaza" is an easy taxi ride from the pier.
Outdoor, shaded, dining. Fairly true MX food. Mariachis. On one trip, we enjoyed a parade of children for Children's
Day. There is a worthwhile museum. Interesting and low priced stores two blocks back from the Malecon. There are
a number of excursions that could have been mentioned. One dealing with the Island history including displays of
the art of the area and, in the jungle, dioramas of the areas of Mexico. I use the term dioramas for lack of a better
word. There are "models" of structures which are several feet high. An nice lunch was served when we were there.

My first time was nearly 20 years ago and altho the water is amazing and beautiful, I feel a bit sad it has all became so commercialized. My first trip, at Port, could get in water with ship right there by you and take cool pictures. Now, they want you to take a cab/bus and go thru all kinds of stress like video said. I pay port fees to get in water by ship and have now learned not to get off ship and force to get excursion or find somewhere yourself. Not near relaxing and worth it as 1st trip. So, I can relate to your comment very much. It has been 3/4 years since cruised and looking at different ports now bc of this.

  • @elliemayormaynot
    @elliemayormaynot 4 роки тому +5

There are three ports. The Puerta Maya is down near the International pier where Royal Carribbean was. Docking where you were gives you wonderful access to downtown, but you have to leave the port area for that. All the ports have the same shops. A quick taxi ride will take you to Nachi Cocum, Mr Sanchos or any other all inclusive where you can spend a wonderfully relaxing day on the beach. There is so much more to do in Cozumel than wandering around the port area. I have a friend on the island who does personalized excursions and we always have a great time on the island. If you want a really good meal, take a taxi to Casa Denis...authentic Mexican food, but they don't take credit cards.

Not a ship excursion . but a fantastic foodie tour. Picks up and drops off at the mega mart. Takes you to 4 -5 different small cafe type places in the residential part of Cozumel. you have a different course and a beer or soda at each stop. take a tour of the neighborhood market and see how they do things differently. Then end up at a bakery for fresh pastries for desert. Tour never leaves the city and we had time to shop before and after,

Tip for an extra plug or two. Get a converter for the European on most ships. This merely changes the format of the receptacle so be careful, it is still is 220 V, not 110 like in the US. Mine presents two of our style receptacles and two USB sockets. Don't worry about the USB at all. Do not plug anything that makes heat or something like a fan or sound machine in those sockets but computers and electronic devices are designed to take either. Also, there is often an extra 110 plug behind the TV.

I was happy to watch this clip, so thank you. I went on a cruise, in late 2007, on Royal Caribbean's Navigator of the Seas, and it was a 5 day, 4 night cruise with a port stop here in Cozumel. I had never been outside of the U.S. , and didn't really have enough money to go on any excursion, so I just did a quick walk around, and then got back on the ship. Things have been added to this port since I last saw it! Watching your port clips make me feel more confident in where to go or what to do, if and when I get to go on another cruise. These travel clips have been very informative. THANKS!! :-) ...... Michelle from South Florida

Ha! Ha! Ha! You did not go to Cozumel! You went to a "built for tourist" shopping village at the end of the pier where the ships dock. Cozumel is a wonderful city full of Mexican culture, food, entertainment, history (great museum) and other great things to do. A short taxi ride away it is all waiting. Sorry you missed it.

Question: am surprising my family for a 30th birthday/Christmas with cruise on NCL western carribian (roatan, Belize, cozumel, Costa Maya) in a couple months and see the excursions are pricy and noticed on 1 of your videos that there are other options to do same activities without using ncl excursions that might be a bit cheaper? Am I correct? If so, could you recommend where I would go to look at places would I wait to get there or look online? Please and thank you to anyone that could answer this for me! One thing I would love to do is the horseback in Roatan and we would love to interact with the Monkees on a beach someplace LOL any suggestions are welcome! Thank you

When you get off the ship the vendors will be lined up for you to go on excursions. There is also a company www.viator.com/ that we know several people have used as well, however we haven’t tried them yet.
Generally speaking once you get off the ship at the end of the pier you’ll have a Bunch if vendors. That said the trade offs are:
      - some excursions my not be offered
      - no guaranty if your delayed the ship will wait for u.
I’d recommend leaving some extra time just in case there is traffic or something happens on your excursion but we’re a little risk adverse :)
      Hope that helps!

Not right at the port, there is just the shopping area. You can get a cab or rent bikes to travel around.

what a shame you were not instructed to go one block off the main drag where all the chain stores and restaurants are. there are many wonderful, and i do many, authentic and lower priced restaurants where i eat often as i live there. the charm of the town center was a miss as well.. next time please.

This video is about the cruise port, we'll definitely do further videos beyond the cruise port but the point of this video is to explain what's right there when you get off and what options you have there. Hope that helps and thanks for the comment and suggestion Liz!

Generally yes, Juan Carlos Tuz in the comments said NCL, MSC, Disney, Holland America all dock here regularly. I suppose it could be diverted for various reasons but generally speaking this is their home port in Cozumel.

They do have an elevator, so yes it is accessible. I helped a lady find it. It is to the left at the base of the escalator. The locals are friendly and will gladly point it out for you. enjoy

When the ship gets to Mexico can the ships bar serve 18 and over or do they stick to the 21? I’m gonna be 20 in June and I want to take a cruise this year

The drinking age of Mexico is 18. In fact, I live about 30 miles from the border and when I was 19, I would cross with my mom to some border towns to drink. You will be fine at Mexico drinking if you are 18. In fact, some places will not even ID and sell you the alcohol.

We love going to blue angel, we go out on a boat snorkeling in really nice reefs.. we tend to like the other side of the island where there is not electricity , ocean view is a bit different, not commercialized, ma and pa locally owned businesses , very friendly locals with far better deals than by the ports or downtown. You will find kids selling nicely made hand made jewelry, we like to buy from them as one American dollar can go a long way for a family there, we also bring school supplies with us when we go and drop them off at a nonprofit that gives out to kids for school. when are you going next yr? we will be there Feb 10-17th. I hear often from people who have been there on cruise ships for day passes that also stayed on the island for a week at a all inclusive that longer stay is the way to go... you really cant see and really experience the island in one day. Most understand English well. There are Americans that live there 6 months out of the yr, my husband and I plan on doing that when we retire. If you go on fb there is a page called Cozumel 4 you... check it out. Also my friend Mario NinoEspinosa is a great tour guide, highly suggest him. Him and his family are making us a nice lobster dinner at their home when we go there in Feb. (far better price than going to a high priced restaurant downtown... )There is a family owned tequila shop located across from their state park, highly suggest going there as well, very nice family, beautiful garden and the honey tequila is very good in coffee. The myan ruins are really neat too.. we stay at Allegro all inclusive, nice beach, clear water, nice café across the street, great entertainment, the hotel has jeeps you can rent.

Melanie Nawrot I agree it is impossible to experience the entire island in one day. It sounds like it has a lot of beautiful sights to see. I like the sounds of the other side of the island as well. I am not surprised people spend 6 months of the year there. We will definitely check out the FB groups. Thank you for sharing ❤️
