Hi Brian. Great Analogy using the video example. For years I used RCA outs on my mixers, but I could definately tell the difference when I went to balanced XLR outs. Thanks!
Good video. That's the responsibility of the DJ to play quality material and know the difference. My guys only play FLAC lossless music files. We play our music library only, system is never connected to any outboard device -= i.e. no smartphones, no Bluetooth. It's real simple GIGO, Garbage In = Garbage Out.
If you had anything with rca or 1/8” out jacks (laptop, tablet, cheaper controller like you mentioned), you’d want to get a “Radial Pro AV2” DI box. It will turn any cheap balanced connection into an xlr. Expensive but worth it.
I've had/have a few controllers and the SR is very good sounding controller for it's size. Way better than Numark, Reloop etc. The SZ is even better, but takes more lugging and usually 4 channels aren't needed. Swap the mp3s for flac and it'll sound much better.
I love your videos Brian. No BS. You go straight to the point. I’m not even a dj. I’m developing a saxophone solo act. I’m interested in what you say about equipment and general gigging. Thanks. Keep doing what you’re doing.
So this is often confused...but the size of the system you're pushing to doesn't care if they're balanced/unbalanced and the sound quality will not be different. The only time that matters is if you're running long cable runs. That's when balanced cables shine, as you've got two conductor wires vs one. That said, DJs will almost never notice a difference if you're running a short cable run, like we typically do. If you were running your cables around a lot of other electrical cables you'd also benefit more from balanced, but this is rare for DJs, especially mobile ones. If you're running 10' or less of cable it does not matter whether you're balanced or unbalanced. What does matter is cable quality, materials, connectors, and source. If you want to test this it's simple - do a double blind test and see if you can differentiate. Use the same cable quality, just one balanced and one unbalanced. Dollars to donuts you cannot tell the difference.
It all matters, Matt, and I'm talking about the concept of running thru larger systems vs smaller PA's / at home or thru small speakers at lower volumes. With bigger systems, like higher end installs, your main leads will usually be pretty long runs, so have strong audio links. Even having said all of that, even on smaller systems, every link in the audio chain matters. Once you start compromising one link, it's just a matter of time before you dismiss other links in the chain. Be careful before casting doubt. You may hurt more people than you help
I have done some real nice sound systems so your correct . The audio files need to be as good as possible mp3 320 is the best you can get another thing is the sound card in your mixer or controller.
Don't blame ya bro! Every bride now-a-days wants the 27th remix instrumental of "Can't Help Falling In Love" for her ceremony. It's getting hard to keep up! LoL The occasional UA-cam rip won't hurt in this situation.
Hey Brian. How about something like the Denon MC6000 mk1 or mk2. I rocked the MK2 from about 2014-2020 in my wedding rig. Fairly simple, sounds great and small/light.
Bad quality in files becomes more apparent as you go to bigger, and then to better systems. I used to run all EV, and noticed some files in particular sounded awful through the system; I thought I had sorted most of the wheat from the chaff until I upgraded from EV to Martin Audio. Good files sound even more awesome, but bad ones sounded even more ghastly. Some songs I just won't play now, because no matter how good the file; the mastering is awful.
I put this in your other video but give the Prime Go a good consideration. Small, compact, well built .
❤❤❤❤❤❤ my goal is to keep up with the latest and greatest! Problem is, my funds can't keep up 😅

You have a lot of years dj, I’d buy your book!
I appreciate the shoutout!

Yes those DI boxes are great and I use them for musicians at my gigs. Best investment and backup for sure!
@@MrJFunk yup. And I buy nothing but radial brand. By far the best and built like tanks. Just not cheap to have hanging around.
good choice. affordable alternative is "ART CLEANBox Pro"

I go from my Alienware 14” to a Mackie Onyx, into a Mackie ProFX10 v3. Always sounds great through my Mackie SRM450 v3’s!!! Great Video!!!

Yes the videos from my s23u seem much more shaky on my 55 inch LG CX but look perfect on my smaller Samsung 32 inch screen.
I believe American Audio changed the audio issue with the American Audio VMS4.1 controller.
Make a lot of Sense, thank you 🎉
Great video not a subscriber UA-cam recommend video suggestion and enjoyed watching from New Zealand

Made the mistake of using a UA-cam ripper for a ceremony song. Sounded fine on my PC speakers but over my larger speaker, not so much.

I have that t-shirt.

Biblical reference? Nice!
