Dumb question, but why do you have to read it right to left, then switch it left to right? Wouldn't it be the same result to just read it left to right initially?

our company teaches us to read from left to right. it is a stressful job but I loved every minute of it. I can read meters without the numbers.

It doesn't make sense that he says to read it from right to left at the beginning and then at the end he says, after you have read it and written it down, you read it from left to right. There is no explanation of that and is unnecessarily complex. Why not just read it from left to right? The logic of how to read each dial is independent of all the other dials so the direction doesn't matter unless some information was ommitted. Seems the only rules that you need to know are:
-use the lower number if the dial is between 2 numbers
- the 0 represents both the value 0 and a the value 10. It represents 0 if dial is past the 0 and it represents a 10 if the dial is prior to the 0
