I was surprised to hear the lecturer say that traditional hairsprings can’t be repaired. I’ve seen several twisted and bent metal hairsprings repaired by a skilled watchmaker to perfection.

I wonder what might have been Swatch group's motivation here, were silicone springs perhaps "too good" for their entry level brands?
