  • Well the loader bucket conversion for the Dominator snow plow on my Honda Foreman in finished. In this video I give a quick look around the workings and then put it to the test moving some of the huge manure heap which was the job that inspired me to build the loader bucket.

    12 years ago I make this kind of apparatus to my Honda. It need several iterations to match it ready existing plough carrier. Great help, 10 times faster than shoveling. Front springs are too soft for this kind of device!

      Cheers bro, glad you enjoyed it. Aye Dad is very happy with it. :) It will save a good amount of time bringing manure up for the garden especially once I've got that heap consolidated and covered to stop weeds growing in it.

    top job dear boy, very professional looking rig, seen a few of the plow conversions, but i have to say you did a bang tidy job on that beast, you could maybe put caravan spring assisters in the front springs to stop it sinking so much at the front end but i really like it excellent work Dave

      Cheers Dave, It did turn out quite professional looking dunno how the feck that happened. haha Cheers for the suggestion. I have been looking at spring assisters but the springs on the bike have a really small diameter and having dealt with fitting them on a previous show car I had I'm not sure if they would fit. I have a pair sitting in the barn somewhere so I may try them at some point. Atb Dave

    Very impressive. Obviously 4 years later (2020) and cheaper linear actuators on the market will allow for a replacement to the manual release of the bucket. I'm looking forward to using your design for my own build.

      Thank you. It has been the most used piece of kit I have ever made. I ended up buying a second snow plow so I didn't need to take it apart during the winter as it is super useful all year round. All the best with your build. Good idea with the linear actuator too. Thanks for commenting. Atb Dave

    Also wondering what depth did you made the the bucket surface? it looks looks like about 12 inches from cutting edge to back of bucket/plow

      Cheers, I'm sad now its covered in poop though haha Thanks for joining me on the build, your comments really help me a lot, both with ideas for the build and motivation to record and share what I do. Glad you enjoyed seeing the finished article. Atb Dave

    Awesome idea of using the existing plow and being able to convert it back an forth! What thickness steel plate did you use for the bucket main base and sides ? Since you have had time to use it since the build has it been working as good as you hoped?

    • @playing_in_trafic
      @playing_in_trafic  5 років тому

      Cheers. From memory the plate was 5mm and the depth of the bucket is 50cm. The bucket has ended up being so useful I ended up buying another snow plow so I can keep it as a bucket all year round. I tend to keep it attached to the quad full time too. Not had any problems with it at all. Atb Dave

    Worked great Dave, It's a shame you will never get to use it now because it looks like your Dad has claimed it. Lol

    • @playing_in_trafic
      @playing_in_trafic  8 років тому

      Yep stolen haha It does work great, I was surprised just how much stuff it would lift as some of the stuff with grass and roots in was a heck of a weight and it didn't really struggle at all. Think I might need new tyres on the quad for better grip in the slippy stuff that or possibly snow chains might work. Cheers for watching. ATb Dave

      Take some air out the tyres bro.

    • @playing_in_trafic
      @playing_in_trafic  8 років тому

      Aye bro I thought about doing that but I think if I take any more air out I risk breaking the bead on the tyres when turning as they already get pretty flat when the bucket is full.

      Nice one, looks great and should be able to shift some dirt. I love to see other folks builds especially as designs vary from person to person to suit their specific machines or needs. Thanks for coming back and sharing these pics with me. Atb Dave
