looks great. maybe you couldt attatch a support wheel from a trailer to the front of your atv, to support the suspension

Thanks Ron. It certainly has been , it is by far the biggest metal working project I've ever done so I'm really happy with how it's worked out. I will be happier if it actually works like it's supposed to haha hopefully find out in the next few days. Thanks for joining me on the build. Atb Dave

Great stuff Dave, Its really good that you've been able to make yourself something that's going to make your life easier around the house and you also get the satisfaction of saying "I made that" anytime somebody asks about it. Lol I was just wondering what the total cost is so far with the metal bolts and springs etc.

Cheers Glenn, yeah its pretty cool to be able to build stuff that helps make jobs easier. Total cost has been around £160, with £106 of that being just for the steel. (cough cough and I'll just forget about all the new tools I bought to build it haha) A very similar system to what I have built albeit for a different snow plow is available on Amazon for £340 so I haven't done too bad. I could have saved a bit if I hadn't gone for all stainless steel hardware but they will make it much easier to take apart when I turn it back into a plow for the winter so are worth the extra expense.Atb Dave

Dave, I would never have guessed that you like to buy tools. Lol I'm sure it will be money well spent. I hate having to ask people for a loan of tools, so I'm a bit like yourself, I would just go out and buy it first rather than ask anybody. Atb Glenn.

haha I wonder what gave you that impression of me. lol Yeah I think owning any tools is a great investment, and now I have space to store them I have been investing heavily. :D Yup having to borrow tools is a pain, makes sense to buy so you have them instantly available anytime you may need them in the future. lol...when i saw the top of that metal latch bar it reminded me of the loch ness monster!! ..the wooden one being a meerkat obviously... xD
great job with the bucket Dave..that's a really neat job.....one question though...do you think you'll ever be carrying enough weight in it to require a counter-weight on the back of the bike..like breeze blocks on the parcel shelf or whatever??...it'll be cool to see it in action. :)

haha It does kinda look like that, Nessie must have been sending me subliminals last time I passed the way. lol Yep you are right it deffo needs a counter weight, just the weight of the empty bucket makes the steering awful heavy when lowered but not too bad in the fully raised position. I have some really heavy concrete kerb edgings so today I made a start making brackets to hang a couple off the rear rack (great minds think alike ;) )I did try them on the rack but if I hang them off the back I wont need quite as much weight, still gonna be a bit of trail and error though I reckon, but that's half the fun. I know what you mean, I'm dying to try it out to see how it works hopefully well, otherwise I'm gonna be left with a hell of a pretty and overly large paperweight. haha Cheers. Atb Dave

it's amazing really how much consideration it takes to get on top of a job like this and make it work as intended...it's very impressive Dave!!...the concrete edgings sound great also......well.....not if your the bikes suspension...which at this point is probably in tears and desperately trying to buy tickets to Outer Mongolia!!
...i'm looking forward to the next episodes. :)

haha Yep I think the springs are groaning a little bit. lol might see if I can get some inserts for the springs to stop them compressing as much, I had some for a car a while back and they worked great. Cheers.
