Sometimes, it's better to *not* use Evenly Matched against Traptrix. If you don't have a way to set up a board on the same turn, using it can actually make you lose faster. Sometimes, you might need to hit at least 4 cards with it to break even. Otherwise, it can actually neg you because it'll just trigger a bunch of effects that immediately set their board back up. If they also have Pudica or Myrmeleo in GY while Holeutea is also in the GY, it can get even worse because they can Special Summon one of them and pop your backrow or banish a monster that's a chokepoint in your combo. Traptrix has a bunch of funny interactions with board breakers, but Evenly Matched is one of the funniest in my opinion.
Something i just learned is atrax is a good alternative option if you feel like your gonna get hit with evenly matched by that i mean if your opponent skips straight to battle phase and you have mantis on board you can use mantis to return a trap back your hand use sera to set holeutea, then send a trap from your hand to the grave to summon holeutea and trigger sera to summon atrax. Its specific but i managed to pull it off
Added note im doing this at 1 atrax and it seems that most people prefer just using red reboot so it’s probably best to play both with this as a back up plan incase you dont hard draw it
Or… if you really just wanna keep the consistency artifact lancea is a super rare you can tribute from hand to prevent BOTH players from banishing cards for the rest of the turn meaning even if evenly states make your OPPONENT banish cards face down since you either chained it to evenly or used it early in the main phase it’s virtually a useless card now
@@Sacrene already been using that this week. It was funny to see them skip their main phase just to not be able use evenly match. Also I case you didn't think about it, it's prevents them from using the pot cards as well.
