Dwyane Wade's miraculous buzzer-beater in his final season deserves a deep rewind

- Heading into the final season of his career, there was no doubt that Dwyane Wade would be recognized as the greatest Miami Heat player in franchise history. On February 27th, 2019, what appeared to be a basic regular-season game for Miami against the Golden State Warriors ended in a spectacular fashion. Down by two points with very little time remaining, D-Wade had the opportunity to be the savior for the Heat like he’s done several times before. Before we watch Wade’s last-second shot attempt, we need to understand what makes it so magical.
It’s worth taking a moment to reflect on what Wade means to the Heat organization. When he was drafted in 2003, Wade was the spark to building a losing franchise into a true contender. He essentially helped build the franchise. Throughout his career in Miami, Wade made several All-NBA selections, won three championships, and earned a Finals MVP but his relationship with Miami wasn’t always smooth. Through several ups and downs, Wade at a time wasn’t a member of the Heat. But at this moment, he’s back in Miami to finish his career off where he started. To appreciate what D-Wade gave us in a magnificent finish, it’s worth remembering his legendary career with Miami, his ability to close out games in striking style, why his time in Miami ended, and how he found his way back to the Heat.
Let’s rewind.

Man his career felt like it flew by in a flash lol. Feels like last week he was dropping guys and dunking on people. What a legend.
"flash" see what you did there
Wade was a master when it came to mid range shooting but on defense he was a monster
@@Braylon1997 best shot blocking guard of all time
Ha ha ha yep
Yep i remember me in elementary school, watching Miami (Wade-Shaq) games in the middle of the night in Europe
I remember watching that game and knowing that that would most likely be his last buzzer beater was so damn emotional.
He Hit that buzzer beater from the east, to the west, back to the east, back to the west.
Knew you would be here for your team lol

Wade had that 'it' factor that could claim games when you least expected it. One of my favourite plays ever. Thanks for doing this one.
The Lakers-Heat game where Kobe and Wade were trading clutch buckets back and forth was one of the best matchups I've ever seen
@@United010 bro 😭🤣🤣🤣🤣
ppl used to say harden was better 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@MrCheeseball90 they're casuals lol
yeah...everyone knew he was a star from day 1
Wade saved Miami sports. Signed, a life long Dolphins fan.
Dude it pissed me tf off when the phins tryed to poke fun at the Heat when Lebron left. Like mfs do something, anything! How dare you have anything to say 😡 specially against your city other franchise.
100000000000000000% go heat and phins up
Totally agree. Signed, a life long Marlins fan
Absolutely. The Dolphins disappoint. The Marlins are a waste. But I always had the Heat.
Marlins are a waste, dolphins are iffy, but the heat you know they can be good anytime
“D Wade wins it’s for Miami” I’ll forever miss hearing that.
@@mikemorris3166 Their grammar was fine, word order in English is flexible. The phrase "I'll forever..." is a bit archaic but it's definitely still acceptable in modern English.
Your reply to them is grammatically incorrect btw. It should begin "It's too bad that you..."
As a Warriors fan, I will never forget this shot. Watching it in the moment was unreal, the fact that he got blocked before sinking it makes it all the more iconic.
yes it was iconic
its like his motto
fall down 7 times, rise up 8
same and it happened on my birthday
My Favorite Player of All-Time, when he wasn't injured he always gave 100%
Exactly my guy D Wade is the man and always will be
Not sure if Bulls fans agree
Same, outside Miami I don’t see too many but when he was at his peak he was beyond incredible, 3rd best shooting guard ever, he’s right there with Jordan, Kobe, Iverson and lebron for my favourite players ever
@@seikocomane8572 not sure what bulls fans were expecting from a 35 year old wade who clearly wasn’t the same player after years of sacrificing his body but his performance and number were exactly who he was at that stage of his career
@@PatrickThomasBrady exactly preach! Without question 3rd best sg ever my favorite ever but great point thank you for that
I would love to see a rewinder on brandon roy's comeback against dallas before he retired.

@@frontporchmint I'm from portland, being as blazer fan is inevitable, for better or worse.
@@Jarekthegamingdragon I was at that game. Had just moved to Seattle and my dad surprised me with tickets. Tel you what. I walked in unbiased toward either team, walked out a Brandon Roy fan. Short-lived unfortunately. But that arena was ROCKIN!!!!!!!
Imagine a Roy and Lillard tandem in Portland
This actually had bigger implications than you think. This loss for the Warriors gave them one more than Toronto. This meant Toronto got homecourt over the Warriors in the Finals in 2019. Who knows how things could have been different for the Warriors. Particularly KD’s injury.
Wowzers!
Toronto would have had home court regardless based on head-to-head match ups with the warriors

Literally makes no sense.
I miss D-Wade bruh he was the heart and soul of the heat
Lol they got jimmy buckets now. Aha I would say it’s haslem at this point they pay him to play but he just there make sure nobody gets outta line
he left you for money tho.
@@jerrybronham you can’t be mad at players for doing what’s best for their bank accounts. Teams have no such thing as loyalty so why should players? You think if Dame started averaging 10ppg the blazers wouldn’t trade him?
At the end of the day it’s the time your team has with stars that you should appreciate.
@@jerrybronham no he didn’t. I remember this like yesterday. Wade was underpaid his entire career. He wanted to finally get his money he deserved. After pay cut, after pay cut, he wanted his money. That’s not leaving for money, that’s being disrespected and moving on.
Even me as a die hard warrior fan can’t deny his greatness…
It was a damn good game.
I just remember watching this sequence in stunned silence because as it happened I just knew it was going in. Somehow, someway, that shot was going to fall.
Him hitting that shot… gave my inner child in me one more time to feel euphoria from my favorite player. I love you flash. Thank you for changing my life and introducing me to baskebtall
Was at the game. One of the greatest memories of my life. My favorite athlete of all time. The flash!!! We miss you, Dwyane!! Go Heat!!!
I always get the chills when I see that game winner.
That play was so clutch. 🔥 The poise he had after the the block and release a quick snap jump shot...
Foreal stupid reflexes and immaculate muscle memory
Wade was my favorite player as a little kid, and even though two others have since passed him I'll never forget being mesmerized by his performance in the 2006 finals. I'm grateful to him and that series for igniting my interest in basketball!
Who were the two others after Wade
@@silewis9396 Dirk is second, Jokic first. My taste in play style changed from athletic players to skilled players
I will always remember this game. My little brothers and I watched it together. One of my younger brothers said "let's change the channel, this game is over". I looked over and said "You never know. We could get one of the last great Wade games and we would miss it if we changed right now". He wasn't buying it but my other little brother wanted to finish it out too, so we watched to the end to see this spectacular finish. We all were screaming and freaking out when he hit the shot.
I definitely never thought my words would actually come true, but I'm happy we stayed and watched a legend with his final great moment because of an off hand comment. And the memory will stick with me.
I remember sitting in my programming class during my last year of college watching this game along with my classmates. We were all huge basketball fans and I was the Heat fan. We all silently went nuts while the professor was giving his lecture. One of the games most exciting players hits one of the craziest game winners. It has been a pleasure to watch D Wade's career.
As a kid growing up in south Florida, D-Wade was the reason I fell in love with basketball and why it became my favorite sport over football and baseball. Those were some exciting years and as a lifelong heat fan, I will always cherish them.
After they beat my Mavericks in 2006, I always had a chip on my shoulder against Wade. Tons of respect for him, but just couldn’t forget him and Miami being spoilers to my first time seeing my team go far. Still, watching him jump on that table again almost brought a tear to my eye.
It's strange, but I think Heat and Mavs fans have a major respect for Nowitzki and Wade respectively. Like we saw both dudes basically beat the odds and win a championship as underdogs. And both of those guys legitimately lead their team in a way I don't think I've seen in a series since then.
It could possibly be another heat vs mavs in the finals this year. We are both in the semi finals right now. I hope to see the mavs again in the finals so it can be another 2006 repeat. # Letsgoheat!
What an emotional moment as a life long heat, and specifically D Wade fan
Wade did a ton and I consider him the #3 shooting guard in NBA history. But I will always be amazed at his shot-blocking for a 6’5” guard. He just knew where to be.
What a way to end a career. Love Dwade, a player that could have been even better if it wasn't for knee injuries
Thank you one of my favorite players of all time and one of my favorite plays of all time
Ok now that's goosebumps. Why am I tearing up lmao Great moment
Haha I swear it’s the onions 😭
I remember this day vividly. Me and the boys were up playing billiards in one of the dorm room buildings on campus. We were playing competitive pool, and we were finishing the second game when one of the guys goes, "OOOOOOOOHH!!!! D WADE AT THE BUZZER!!!!!" We all crowded around to see it, it was frickin lit for the rest of the night.
I won 4 out of the 5 games I played that night too.
9:41 This was great, but definitely should have mentioned that Wade was the one that hit that late 3 pointer
My heart burst knowing that he hit the buzzer beating Durant in his face when he was in the Warriors.... as a Heat fan he found he will always be the number #1 to Miami,
this is why it's called WadeCounty!!
Our champion, our guy, in the face of Miami
The best rewinders are the ones that just make you fully smile.
Y’all always make great content keep it up
This was ONLY 3 YEARS AGO, but yet it feels like 30 years ago because of the editing style. Awesome job.

Back in 2011, I was on a gaming forum and we had a post section called "various" and someone posted a highlight reel of D Wade highlights set the song "It's a fight - 36 Mafia". I watched it and was enthralled having never really seen any NBA outside of clips from Space Jam when I was a kid. The next day, I purchased NBA2K11 because I found that video so awesome. 11 years later, I am now an avid NBA fan and it's genuinely become my favourite sport of all time. Thank you random poster on an old gaming forum, and absolutely thank you Dwyane Wade.
can't believe im watching this for the first time - absolute chills at the end. wow
I appreciate y’all for this so much. As a 18 year old Heat Stan born in 03’, wade and that shot will always bring only the best of my basketball memories back.
I was at this game to watch Dwade for the last time all the way from the UK 🔥 what a game
Thank you for this video! Born and raised in the 305 I grew up watching the heat and Wade and this brought back so many memories! Thank you! Subscribed!
What a great great day. Unreal moment as a heat fan.
This was a great tribute to Wade.
(Marquette's been a basketball powerhouse for decades)
I was watching this game live, one of my favorite game winners I’ve ever seen, coming from a Spurs fan.
My dad is an absolutely die hard of the warriors and even he couldn’t help but respect what D Wade did in that buzzer beater.
I did a school project on this the week after it happened. Glad to see it’s getting a lot of attention! Awesome vid
These videos are amazing for someone like me who doesn't keep up with current basketball. The tension and emotional weight gets racheted up so high. I get so invested
Growing up a Miami sports fan in the late 2000's- mid 2010's, Wade was always the most consistent superstar in town and, honestly, just an awesome dude in general. I'm glad he was able to go out like this.
damn, i wish this was longer feels like a lot was left out, but maybe I am just clamoring for more content. this is the best youtube channel.
I was lucky enough to be a heat fan through this whole era. Wade will always be my favorite player. I was nervous about what would happen to the heat when he left but pat Riley and spoelstra have done amazing
The guy that made me a Heat fan back in 03. 19 years later and I'm still a fan. D. Wade is my all time favorite player.
I'm very lucky to have attended the game on that faithful night. Energy was electric. I knew I was a part of history..
Man you guys have to do a rewinder on the Bengals first playoff win in 31 years with the pick to seal it that would be an amazing video
This moment will never fail to make me smile, the ridiculousness of how he got the shot off made it even better
Definitely one of the greatest highlight of his career. My main man D-Wade aka Flash.
I’m a Warriors fan but even I love rewatching this moment. DWade is one of my favs.
D-wade always been THAT guy!!! ⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡
It’s always such a good day when Secret Base posts NBA vids
This one gave me goosebumps more than any other Rewinder. Great job
not a video i expected, but a video i needed
Love seeing this moment get rewinded, but also wish you could've talked about how similar it was to the buzzer-beater Kobe hit over Wade a decade before. Wade's been on both sides of a moment like this
It seems super weird to leave it out when Wade specifically called it out as what went through his mind when he hit the shot.
Feels. As a bulls fan seeing him do some wade tricks that one seasons live was something ill always remember. The floor brains this guy has
I remember seeing the end of this game. Good memories; always rooted for the Heat as a kid & respected D-Wade.
I remember watching this game couldn’t even be mad, was sweet
Finally a rewinder! It feels like it’s been half a year since the last one
I was fortunate enough to see this shot happen live, what an amazing moment
Yes!!!

We need more Wade rewind
As a heat fan who was watching that game, it was no better feeling considering how we felt after he left
At that very moment, KD wanted a trade to Miami so bad😂
Loooool

I'll never forget how I felt watching this live. I've never felt like I was living in a simulation more. Honestly
This game happened on my 25th birthday and I was actually wearing my red Wade jersey that I got in '05 while watching it
I remember sitting in the nosebleeds of an almost empty American Airlines arena in 2003 with my dad and watching the Heat get pummeled but even then we knew Wade was a star.
06 Finals First Finals ı ve watched, really fun to watch him, nowadays People think just looking statistics and say he s not that good but he was a great player and have a really big heart
this ‘last’ shot isn’t talked about enough i feel like. what a huge play for a legendary player
I had to throw this in there as well. Another thing Wade and Curry had in common in college. Both Marquette and Davidson's Cinderella runs would come to an end at the hands of the Kansas Jayhawks.
So glad he came back to Miami. He is my 2nd fav all time player only behind Jordan.
Saw this live and boy was it special🔥
i love these rewinders
I remember this game well. Wade was just stellar and even though I'm a lifelong Warriors fan going back to the Chris Mullin era, I couldn't help but laugh and be amazed when he hit that shot.
Warriors fought hard, played some truly great defense - including blocking the initial shot - but Wade just made it anyway.
Just gotta tip your cap to stuff like that.
this is one of my favorite game winners of all time
Finally some wade content
I saw this man whole career
It was definitely great
Fave player to ever do it , thank you. DW3
👍good video.
His last home game was lit too.
He had a walk off double double...
Wade is so underrated
That's just a fun highlight made even better with all the context!
Thank u for the memories the Flash, the reason I love basketball
Y’all gotta do a rewinder episode on the 2022 Finals, so many legendary moments

It doesn’t even matter since d rose can’t even spell his name correctly
Your rewind videos are always so awesomely edited and narrated! 😎
Crazy bucket. I give it a 9/10
I loved the video. Wished you'd show the shot more than once at the end tho. I realise I can just rewind the video but for some reason I found myself wanting a repeat of the play. It was a beauty. D-WAde is a legend 💯💯💯
Dang this made me emotional for no good reason 😂
Can’t believe you guys didn’t mention the heat’s battle to make the playoffs that year
as a heat fan this moment meant alot
SO underrated…
My top 5 2 guard of ALL time…
I'm a native of SoFlo and would buy block sets of game tickets. I remember Wade's rookie year. I thought that kid was the 2nd coming of MJ. He was something to see.
He got about as close as anyone except Kobe so I would say you weren’t too far off
when i knew 0 about basketball i remember my dad taking me to a heat game i told him i want a shaq jersey and shaq is the best this was 05 and my dad was like no man d wade is the guy my dad lived in miami I didnt and so i was like yea yea what ever later when we were at the game i saw sombody break away on a steal and slam it home and i was like who is that guy my dad said "thats dwyane wade " and from there on he was my favorite player even got to watch game 5 of the finals 2006 (400s section) but i was still there that man brought me and my dad so close in so many different games and eventually was the reason i fell in love with basketball
My fav player always . Even when Bron joined.❤Heat fan
