My (real life) family is super prone to twins but the twin pregnancies usually don't make it. And it's always non-identical twins. My uncle and aunt were twins, my sister had multiple twin pregnancies and even I was supposed to have a twin but sadly I ate him. Woops!
Using the disease tester, the options are a cold, pneumonia, the flu, food poisoning, and morning sickness. My theory is that that's why they have the disease token, and they accidentally made it fatal.
I know a few premade sims have this modifier token. Personally I've never looked into this much, because for most pregnancies I am eating cheesecake anyway
Guess hereditary twin chance was a plannead feature of the game (the strategy guides certainly implied this). I believe Maxis actually wanted to go back and complete it, but couldn't -hence the oddity of the cheesecake having a 100% of twins, as a sort of compensation. Very interesting video, as always!
Once I made a family with parents and two children. One of the kids froze when she was building a snowman outside and obviously both the kids got taken away. I was sad and tried for baby so I could get new kids as I couldn’t adopt the old ones anymore and I GOT TWINS lol, it was so cool!!
I was looking through SimPE and saw that one of my toddlers had it. He was a twin, but his sister didn't have it. Later, I checked again, and he didn't have it anymore. I guess it explains why, lol
Well, so I guess in my gameplay it was a complete coincidence: Lilith Pleasant married Dirk and Angela married Dustin. Lilith got twins, Angela had a single son, but her grandchildren were twins!
I don't get how it can be a coincidence! Castor Nova and Tiffany had twins twice in my game, and then those twins grew up and had more twins. Meanwhile, hardly anyone else in the 'hood has (I think only one other family.)
i find the sims 2 so interesting. The way it was coded and stuff i just find it so fascintaing. Maybe i m a nerd but id love to see similar videos to the sims 3 or 4 since i know both are messed up. Love your videos
I think it's because the devs started to make "The Sims 1 3D" and then were like... what if your Sims 'aged' and that opened up the whole idea of a neighborhood history that evolves and genetics that affect generations like in real life.
I like keeping books on my sims way too much, so I was able to calculate that out of 112 pregnancies that happened in my neighbourhood, 11 of them resulted in in twins. Math checks out. And my first thought was that there's no way it's 10%, twins seem so rare! One funny thing though, when I was reinstalling my town on a new PC, all the sims who were pregnant at the time of save transfer(5 of them) gave birth to twins. I do wonder if that was just a coincidence, or some odd bug happened? 7:22 Funnily enough, both times I played with Delilah O'Feefe she also had twins in my game.
I absolutely LOVE these deep dives into aspects of this game's coding, it's like a Xmas present to me 😆 Also, I have noticed that some of my pregnant Sims' needs drop a LOT faster than non-pregnant Sims...but then other pregnant Sims are totally fine the whole time? I wonder if these latter Sims don't have the Disease token...hmm!
Yeah, I noticed that too. I think the token might be giving different values of needs dropping each time. The token also triggers morning sickness! This might be its main function really.
I've wondered about the difference between the so-called 'twin gene' and the super fertility benefit for a while, and whether they stack to increase chances further. Clearly stacking isn't a thing if the twin gene doesn't even exist in the first place. There seem to be a few things cropping up which we've all been told is a certain way, but people are actually looking into and discovering them to be false. Hopefully people keep up that great work as it's really interesting. Also, for a while it's felt like either John or Jennifer Burb has some kind of increased twin chance as it seems to happen to them way more in my games than anyone else. When I think logically I'm sure it must be coincidence, but then it happens again (it just happened in my latest game in fact - I restart Pleasantview way, way too often) and it makes me wonder.
I remember asking you about the pregnancy modifier/genetic twins chance when Tenneth and Holten were born! So it had nothing to do with it. Good to know!
I remember testing if you could have 10 sims in a household without cheats by having two pregnant sims eat cheesecake. (You can.) Kid me was so proud of myself for this discovery lmao
Not me having twins just to Laslo get obducted to have twins two days later too. I loved it. It was so intense. Named them Morgan & Freeman and then Andromeda & Sirius
Woah, this is blowing my mind. Total Mandela effect. I remember before the cheesecake and forcetwins cheat, uploading sims pregnant with twins was such a hot commodity back in the day. We all coveted that supposed inherent bonus to twin chance from being a twin themselves but come to think of it, no one ever suggested what the higher number might be. It could've been 11% instead of 10% for all we know. Now we know we've been living a lie for almost 20 years!
This is shocking for me because I had one town where all my sims came from 3 sims - 2 twins and their younger brother and I swear I had twins in every generation from that twins branch.
This makes so much sense. I have 4 sets of twins in a neighborhood and only one couple (both parents were twins) would go on to have a set of twins. They also had the super fertility trait. But only one set of twins out of 3 pregnancy.
@@Marticore Yeah, that's true, but I can count like maybe 5 "natural" twins (without forcetwins or cheesecake) in my whole, long gameplay and I've had hundreds of babies :P. It feels ultra rare. in my gameplay theres like 50% chance of twins. always twins. so many twins. the worst one was definetely when Brandi got twins on a clean Pleasantview. they got taken away :(
I swear twins happen more often when the sim isn't in a position to look after them, it's happened to me a few times... it can't just be observer bias... right?
I swear I have a family in my game that has a tendency to have twins. The parents adopted a girl and then decided to have their own and twins were born. Then when it time for one of the twins to reproduce, they also got twins! Coincidence? I think not! (I know that's not true, I just wanted to quote the Incredibles)
Interesting video as always! It's funny because in my game I never have twins, I've been playing for a year and half and have had about 100 babies born in game and have only had 4 sets of twins: one set from Daniel Pleasant, then a set from both of Angela's daughters, and one set from Lilith's daughter. So it's only the Pleasant family in my game, and I don't use cheesecake, force twins, or the fertility treatment benefit. Must be a coincidence but super strange!
@@xEnjoyTheMoment I still haven't had anymore since I posted that comment! All from the Pleasant family descendants. I know the pregnancy modifier token has been disapproved but I still wonder a bit given how they are the only people to have twins in my game. I have 11 sets of twins in one neighborhood but you could discount 3 sets because they were cheescake twins. Actually, the last time I tried to use cheesecake for twins (father wanted to marry 6 kids) it didn't work. I tried it twice and she only had a single birth. I'm not sure why it didn't work. It was the same cheesecake I used for their first set of twins so maybe you can't use the same one twice? I'm not sure. So far none of my twins have had twins but I seem to have a lot of natural ones in this hood. And I agree; if your sims are dirt poor and living in a shoebox it greatly increases the possibility of having twins! Happens all the time!

I got super "lucky" with the 10% chance, yesterday. Both of the females in my household were pregnant at the same time, and both of them had twins! I had to slipt them beacuse there is no way I'm taking cake of four toddlers at once!

I wonder if this would be something that LazyDuchess could fix in their Open Sims 2 project. Could be worth asking them. Either way, I just use the triplets and quads mod and hit random for people who I think should fall into the "twins run in the family" category.
I had a couple who had a single son and then twins and then the eldest also had twins, of course in a small house and no money... I thought that was genetics and I should've seen that coming but if that was just random 10% chance, I'm even more mad 😂😂

I was always told, or thought, it was more common if you had a female marry an NPC and have a baby. I think Jo Carr did it for me a couple times from PV neighbourhood
Joe is on the list of "pregnancy modifier carriers", I guess he's just lucky to get the token by random (and then taken away, and then given, and then taken away...)
I once had a couple of family sims with the super fertility bonus that I really wanted to have twins. They had three kids, no twins. 🤡 It was vanilla game, and both sims were created in CAS
Someone ought to make a mod that actually _does_ implement this rumoured feature. Not me. I'm allergic to Sims 2's scripts. They frighten and confuse me.
Cheesecake is insta twins, so I think the aspiration benefit would be better as the base. And it would have to be a completely new custom token and hereditary to work as intended.
Hey marti! I am playing the sims 2 now, and streaming it. Unfortunately, right after a clean install from discs (dont judge), I had a crash happen which ruined my sim (stuck in university as a grown up with no personality, aspiration, randomised attraction, peak fitness, male voice on female sim... the whole ordeal. After that I made a clean new sim to play with instead, but I noticed nearly all the npc's (both main neighbourhood and subneighbourhoods) are completely broken in the same way. Even worse, most if not all pets are broken, they walk on their hind legs and their front legs are tucked backwards into their torso, they have a male sim voice instead of a pet voice, and they cant be interacted with... How can I fix this?? Ideally without reinstalling of everything 😢 is there any patches or mods that would help? Currently I only downloaded the bonsai that shows hidden skills and a pack with the pre-order items, cars and clothes, and the sims 2 store items. Those were installed AFTER the crash and corruption though. I hardly use cheats, if anything I used boolprop once or twice in my household to delete those creepy sims-pets hybrids that would block the frontdoor for whole days and nights. Thanks for any tips!
Reinstalling won't help, as it's likely just this one save that is broken. Wow, I've never had this kind of corruption happen. I think there are two possible reasons for it: 1. The game crashed during saving and the files got messed up because they only saved partially. 2. You're using OneDrive for Documents and it interfered with the save files. You can uninstall OneDrive in the Control Panel and change Documents' localization in the folder settings. As for the fix it would take a long time to make human pets regular pets and it would require a lot of SimPE work. I think best would be to start a new save, maybe export and clone the Sim you were playing to place them in a new neighborhood for fresh start.
I always asked myself why my version of Bianca's plauthrought HAD BLOND TWINS instead of the usual "bianca clone" that everyone keeps talking about… Now i know!! I probably must have used the aspiration rewards on the 2nd or 3rd day + i made her "go for a baby" with a blond npc in the 1st day of pregnancy, therefore, I MADE HER HAD TWIN BLONDE KIDS SOMEHOW WITH MY ACTIONS D4mn, i'm a genius(bc twin blond brothers was just what i wanted, but i didn't eve knew all of this), thanks so much for the explanation, now i know how to replicate it and have blond twins again😂
Huh, you must've had either the clean version of Veronaville or the Equal Genetics mod to actually get blonde babies from Bianca. I've never heard of the Bianca clone, but it sounds like simply the firstborn syndrome - if everyone just makes her a baby with Kent and accepts the first mix, it'll be the same baby in everyone's game, that maybe just happens to resemble Bianca a lot.
@@Marticore i was playing vanilla, i didn't knew mods existed at the time, i learned that later😂 I went for a baby with a blonde welcome wagon npc right after entering the household bc i always remember from my childhood the fact that the baby of Bianca is one with always black hair, so i wanted to see if making her whoohoo right before the "become pregnant" event happened, would change the result. I delayed the event by keeping her bussy with unavoidable tasks(the ones with long animations and priority's on the game's lineup of actions, you know, the ones that are gonna be completed even if you cancel them mid-animation or before they even begin the action), in the meanwhile, gave her all her aspirations rewards by completing her wishes like i was doing a fkng speedrun, and there you have it! Blonde twins with the genetics of the father and the mother in the vanilla Veronaville. The mere fact that it worked it's kinda blaffing to me😂 (Edit: also, i said "bianca clone" bc, if you look at her genetics ingame, the baby only has bianca's bc the game is broken, so the programmers made the pregnancy work by making bianca pregnant with her self, only her gened are present in the vanilla's baby code, that was the only solution they could came up with, while developing the game, to make Bianca's pregnancy happen when a player entered the household, bc the husband was already dead, twice actually. You can see that in Simagination's videos, they are in spanish, but she explains that there are two "Bertos", Brandi Broke husband, in the storyline of the game, and you can notice by looking at the code and you'll see 2 different versions of the character saved there at the same time, with different colored eyes, even. So clearly they Broke, pun intended, Brandi's code for pregnancy, and solved it by giving her a baby with only her genetics present, and that's why the first born syndrome occurs with her on the first place, and why i call the baby "brandi's clone". It's fascinanting, actually, but i think that my little playing around with the blonde npc modifyed that imput by adding the male npc's genetics, so the babies had both, and turned out to be blonde thanks to now having both genetics instead of just one.)
Hi! Can you please do a video on the unfortunate scenario where a Sim in TS2 gives birth to twins, but one disappears from the lot and still appears in your Sim selection on the side? Have recently had it happen, and I've read on several forums that others have had it happen too, but usually without a proper way to bring the disappeared baby back.
Happens often with the Ottomas twins especially if you have a shorter pregnancy mod that makes Samantha go into labor immediately. I think moving the family brings back the other twin 🤔
Thank you for the video and I'm glad I could contribute :)
My (real life) family is super prone to twins but the twin pregnancies usually don't make it. And it's always non-identical twins. My uncle and aunt were twins, my sister had multiple twin pregnancies and even I was supposed to have a twin but sadly I ate him. Woops!

Identical twins don't run in families because they're a mistake in the early fetus development, but that sounds like hyperovulation to me...

My sister was supposed to have a twin too, a non-identical as it was a boy. But she absorbed him too, oops xD

I've already checked it, the game code is exactly the same as in the base game (except then there was no pet check).
The idea that TS1 appears over programmed and the TS4 and DLC is historically under programmed on release🙃
@@Marticore so does the token actually work if you conceive when the NPC has it
No, it doesn't work at all
I once had a couple of family sims with the super fertility bonus that I really wanted to have twins. They had three kids, no twins. 🤡
It was vanilla game, and both sims were created in CAS
Someone ought to make a mod that actually _does_ implement this rumoured feature.
Not me. I'm allergic to Sims 2's scripts. They frighten and confuse me.
0:26 This image almost jumpscared me lol, I mean what's wrong with this sim's neck? And Back? And the elbow?
What? Cheesecake?! That’s hilarious!
Does it work for male alien pregnancies too?
Yep!
Wouldn't it be possible to use that cheesecake function to make the pregnancy modifier tokens actually work again?
I think there are two possible reasons for it:
I always asked myself why my version of Bianca's plauthrought HAD BLOND TWINS instead of the usual "bianca clone" that everyone keeps talking about…
Now i know!!
I probably must have used the aspiration rewards on the 2nd or 3rd day + i made her "go for a baby" with a blond npc in the 1st day of pregnancy, therefore, I MADE HER HAD TWIN BLONDE KIDS SOMEHOW WITH MY ACTIONS
D4mn, i'm a genius(bc twin blond brothers was just what i wanted, but i didn't eve knew all of this), thanks so much for the explanation, now i know how to replicate it and have blond twins again😂
@@Marticore i was playing vanilla, i didn't knew mods existed at the time, i learned that later😂
I went for a baby with a blonde welcome wagon npc right after entering the household bc i always remember from my childhood the fact that the baby of Bianca is one with always black hair, so i wanted to see if making her whoohoo right before the "become pregnant" event happened, would change the result.
The mere fact that it worked it's kinda blaffing to me😂
(Edit: also, i said "bianca clone" bc, if you look at her genetics ingame, the baby only has bianca's bc the game is broken, so the programmers made the pregnancy work by making bianca pregnant with her self, only her gened are present in the vanilla's baby code, that was the only solution they could came up with, while developing the game, to make Bianca's pregnancy happen when a player entered the household, bc the husband was already dead, twice actually.
@@liamvautier944 Ah, so you're NOT talking about Bianca Monty, but rather Brandi Broke. And her husband's name is Skip, not Berto.
lol why does cheesecake force twins thats so random
And then I think my coding is messy
LMAO i love this useless token
