Slowly working my way through all your videos, must admit I’m really enjoying the content ❤

Thanks Dan, very interesting commentary you provided. It’s funny to think a few years ago a 178 would have been the main tractor on some farms, dust and all 🤣

You should have used the 178!!😆
Looks a lovely baler, definitely slicker under the covers than my old jd 550. Would have been interesting to see how much more straw the chopper would have put in a bale🤔. I thought you’d have had loads more in a bale than the claas though 🤷‍♂

Good comparison of balers and walk round Dan 👍 we ran a Claas baler and a John Deere belt type baler and discovered that if the straw was perhaps not as dry as wanted the soft core Claas baler when were opened in the winter not much evidence of the core heating where the belt baler often found the core had heated and had gone that white mouldy way and perhaps about a foot to a foot and a half of the centre of the bale was mouldy 🤔😕

Great video Dan, really enjoyed both balers in convoy and seeing if there are any differences.

Years ago Mill engineers used to come out that time of day to mend a combine sometimes well into the night so you could go the next day that was a good service 😂

I always baled the swath starting at the tailings, ie where the combine came out of the crop. Mind you this is a long time ago when the balers were a bit sensitive as to how it picked up the crop. It was very easy to block up the reel under certain conditions with a certain green baler which i wont name. They got better and better though, as did the other makes so backing up before dropping the bale became a thing of the past.

Nice one Dan , I was expecting a bigger difference in bale quantity / distance , compared to the class 🤷😂

Bloody great balers them done 25000 in 3 year's with one no problem. You can set your netter to be quicker time delay and also can set off before door locks, you would find the mf will make harder bales if you push faster forward i usually run about 7 on pressure and have the gauge running in the middle of the yellow

Another good commentary. What I take from it is that you will gain very little from it but you weill need to be on very good terms with your bankers. Question is, how much life is there left in the Class ? Shame about the weather, it would have been nice to see you put the new unit through it's paces.

Try a Krone Comprima V 150 XC X-treem. Better in every way from either of those 2 balers. Especially storing and loading roles of net!

Not had experience with the Welger/MF belt baler but do have a New Holland one. The MF is far heavier duty. One thing to note with a belt baler is that there is probably a setting to give a soft[er] centre. Making the centre too solid makes it go very hard and difficult to spread if damp, and possibly go mouldy.

It would be good if you could change the beeper tones, I think that beep would get on my nerves after a few bales 😕

Do you use 1.25 meter netting in the claas or 1.30 ? Have bought a similar one and need to order net but not sure whats best in them.

Why go for a belt baler if you just want 4ft bales, why not stick with a roller baler? What size is the combine header you're baling after, the MF baler should be able to take in a lot more straw than the Claas, we've had 3 Welger/Fendt roller balers with the same intake and they would do up to 100 bales an hour in straw in the right conditions, 60-70 should be no problem to them.

My dad broke the back window on the John Deere, so I’ve been getting so much dust in my eyes whilst baling! Can barely see this video now.
