- Program Notes:
MAG7 was written in the summer of 2017 and dedicated to Michael Burritt's seven graduate students (The Magnificent Seven) who have so brilliantly brought his new opus to life. The piece opens with a solo “riff” on marimba that serves as the seed for the entire work. The rhythmic and metric development manipulate the quintuplet, first introduced in the opening section, as a tool for polyrhythmic hemiola and metric modulation.
This is fully realized in the center of the work as the entire ensemble is playing varying layers in multiples of 5 tethered to a 5/4 meter. Like most of MB's music, MAG7 is a melting pot of genres and artistic influences coalescing in a pseudo rhapsodic form.

Those splits at the end are actually insane
This is by far my favorite burrit composition. Idk why I like it so much I just find it so interesting and dynamic
This is so amazing! I love the energy - It's so poetically expressive. Thank you for sharing :)
The vibe chords at the end chorus... I will never not headbang to those chords
Great performance! I wish I could have seen it live

"Like most of MB's music, MAG7 is a melting pot of genres and artistic influences coalescing in a pseudo rhapsodic form."
This is just not true. The vast majority of MB's pieces are in ternary form.
Also, the piece is about the "Magnificent Seven," so how about crediting these magnificent students in either the video or the video notes? Their names are not currently mentioned.
The actual composition isn't very good :S
Bobby Kushner Eh, I’ve heard worse, it has some interesting moments!
