Completely out of this conversation, but Leo Strauss has a VERY brief comment on this text by Lukacs in a larger discussion on the issue of relativism. This, at least, can give some context to a certain reception of Lukacs in the USA. The essay is “Relativism” in book The Rebirth of Classical Political Rationalism, ed., Thomas Pangle. This may be a dead end-except that Geoff Waite calls himself-or has been called-a “Maoist Straussian.”
So many topics discussed in this talk I am dizzy :) Thank you for making this discussion public
