nice job explaining this concept!
Great video. Very helpful!!
How did the half and marathon go for you and Suung? Great video, I want to do and wanted to know what to expect and the Garmin manual didn’t give a lot of info.
Running a marathon on a track would be a mental endurance threshold test for me😅
I just got a Garmin and the HRM Pro too. I'm planning on doing this test tomorrow 😁. My PRs so far for the Marathon is 3Hrs 52min and for the Half Marathon is 1Hr 24min.
Been considering getting a Garmin HRM just not sure if I should get the top model, or the cheaper one since I'd only use it while running, not swimming and I don't cycle, at least at the moment.
In a recent study (Heiber, Schittenhelm and others) it was found LT Garmin’s calculations underestimate lactate threshold pace by more than 10%, which is a really enormous.
Average calculated pace on 26 participants were 11,87 km/k (5:05 min / km) but blood sample test gave 13,28 km/h .
I obtained better results with simple HR formula aiming to keep close to 85 % HR on tempo runs, around 88% threshold runs
Interesting, thank you
This function is broken on the 955, maybe on others models too, due to buggy software.
Mine is locked at 4:39 /km while it's more around 4:20 /km, and it has not changed since I did the test for the first time (I'm on auto-detection mode and wear a strap for every intense session).
At least the HR is wright @168bpm.
Did the test once. Had a 167bpm threshold. I run a 10k on 180bpm average, im not sure about the accuracy of the test.
BMP is shit. Just saying
@@pal_lokomotivet2679how is bpm shit?
I obviously don't know your running form or how long a 10k takes you (so I really have no business here 😅)... but on the surface, these numbers seem accurate. For a lot of folks, a 10k would be run at a higher intensity/above lactate threshold.
@@ixiiixiiixiiyeah ofc your hr is going to be higher when you are running faster. Threshold is supposed to be slower than your 10k pace lol
@@pal_lokomotivet2679 if you think BPM is shit, wait until you experience no BPM...
What time did you complete the half in? You hoped for 1:55, did you achieve it?
What yellow band is that?
Here you go amzn.to/42VcqhU 😀
What accuracy improvement does one get after doing the test?
After I wish I recorded it but your garmin watch prompts you to update your heart rate zones based on your lactate threshold heart rate. Hope this clarifies.
Wanted to do this, but winter has not cooperated
On my morning run I miss California "winters". my body isn't used to running in the cold
where is the merch?
Appreciate this!!! It arrived last week so it'll be live in the next 2 weeks!
If my budget only allows me to pick either the Garmin 165 or vivoactive 5 which one you think I should pick ?
I have the VivoActive 5 but havent got my hands on the 165 yet. But I would probably go with 165.
. The extra Button, Barometer, and the bezel looks better for long term. My vivoactive 5 is getting some minor scratches. Hope this helps!
The vivo active venu 3 do not even show active calories on any data screen. Go for the 265 many more features.
Go Instinct 2. Having a smart watch looks cheesy as hell with amoled displays. Set it up so it looks like a regular gshock and nobody will notice it.
245 dont have this function :(
really!?! sorry about that. I am pretty sure the newer 255 has it. Still other ways of getting threshold testing you can look into.
Can you make a Garmin Lactate Threshold Guided Test with a Polar Chest?... Does it work without problems?. 😱
no problems at all. Not sure if you noticed. My friend in the video was using a Polar H10
If this video is for beginners not a great job. You didn’t explain how to set up the watch or how to do the test. If the video is for advance runners I am pretty sure they already know.
Love this feedback! Thanks Luis 📝
Don’t feel like buying a chest strap which I’ll never use after the test…
Absolutely I find the band really useful when I train kickboxing
@@2MfalsFitness why does it matter what your heart rate is during kickboxing? Does it inform training in any way?
@@Seanonyoutube when u are using globes you can not use a watch, it's uncomfortable and not safe
You can always borrow a Chest Heart Rate monitor. In the video my friend Sung Used my extra one from Polar.
@@Aesthetic_Al a bit gross 😅
