Great video and playing. My favourite Val solo is at the end of Ease by PIL. There is an incredible ascending run at around the 6m10s mark of the song. Believe me, I would absolutely love to see that.
Thank You again Cameron for another awesome lesson. The "Eat'em and Smile " was filled with amazing riffs, licks, and solos, and really helped put Steve Vai on the map. The technics he used on this album was absolutely unparralled.
Great little lesson as always and I love how you teach the little things. You're definitely a technically sound teacher and it's the little things that make a world of difference. You got Vai's little whammy bar subtleties down too a T.
Cam…out of all the guitars, that yellow DK is your fav…its funny how one guitar “speaks” to you…btw, just picked up a sweet mij wolfgang…loving it….rock on bro😎
Thanks a lot! I can't escape George Lynch comments even when I'm doing an impression of someone else. I was never once inspired by his music although I think his stuff with Lynch Mob and Dokken was great
Yeah Buddy Steve Via, I am totally serious when I say you are the best guitar teacher I’ve seen,.. I’ve always been able to see what people are doing and all , but they don’t take the care and time, running through it slowly ,..piece by piece and you are better at explaining the entire process ,… you don’t just play it slow once then speed it up a million miles an hour showing off,.. thanks for your time & Videos.
CAMERON, Thanks for making this video lesson, there are more steve Vai "finger Swapping" licks in his David Lee Roth Album licks to look into more to make another video lesson. He uses finger swapping techniques in his scalar licks. Try to make Jason Becker arpeggio licks and scalar licks video
Cam! Awesome! You'v been very generous with your (VH) settings on the Yamaha THR...would you mind sharing them for this stellar Vai sound?? 🙏🏻 THANKS!!
Dude, you are a very highly kick butt accomplished lead n rhythm guitar player! Question: what kind of strings n guage do you use n why? Thanks from Michigan.
@@CameronCooper Wow, fast reply n as fast as your fingers move on your Charvel fret boards! Thank you so much for your time. You r my #1 favorite youtube ch. Love it!!👍🏽!
Right, sometimes it's easy to miss notes when playing slowly. I'm just mentioning it in case someone else is wondering why it doesn't match up when playing the part fast.@@CameronCooper
That tobacco road was tight I've never heard that one wtf I'm a have to study more Vai.. I know alot of people must ask you to tab stuff out uh lol well that's the reason you play it slow so the people can play along or tab it out themselves. Everyone learns different I guess , some rather read some rather watch or be told...
Not a fan of Vai... too wheedly wheedly, too much whammy madness, not enough aggression in either the playing or the tone. Which is not to take anything away from the fact that you play his licks perfectly and that's impressive!
If I were to make a part 2, what would you like to see?
Intro 0:00
Yankee Rose 1:15
Big Trouble 4:54
Skyscraper 5:38
Ladies' Night In Buffalo 9:35

I'd love to see licks from Flex-Able and Passion & Warfare too
Great video and playing. My favourite Val solo is at the end of Ease by PIL. There is an incredible ascending run at around the 6m10s mark of the song. Believe me, I would absolutely love to see that.
Would love to learn a bit of the crossroads duel, not the classical bit but the intimidating stuff vai does before that 👍🤘, great video mate
Yesssss please do I’m still a beginner and this helps a lot and I’m a vai fan so it really makes me feel advanced
shyboy, specially the intro
Omg thank you for this Cam! I love this era of Steve Vai. Never really stuck with his solo stuff but I absolutely love his time with Lee Roth.
Man, the tone!!! It sounds awesome!
Rational, clear instruction with clear camera work, good lighting, and a manageable pace? Dude deserves a million more subs.
Thanks for the sub!
Great video! Just shows what a genius Steve Vai is.
Ladies’ Nite in Buffalo is by far my favorite track off of Eat em and smile 🎸💙
Me too I think
Thank You again Cameron for another awesome lesson. The "Eat'em and Smile " was filled with amazing riffs, licks, and solos, and really helped put Steve Vai on the map. The technics he used on this album was absolutely unparralled.
AMAZING! Congratulations! You are a very good guitarist! The fingerpicking lick in "Goin´Crazy!" is a gem too.
Amazingly done❤❤
Excellent video! Please do Stand Up and Hina from Skyscraper. Both awesome solos. Thank you!
Awsome video Cam
, as always ! Steve Vai is a god !
Great little lesson as always and I love how you teach the little things. You're definitely a technically sound teacher and it's the little things that make a world of difference. You got Vai's little whammy bar subtleties down too a T.
Immense clarity tone Cameron
You've grown into a fine guitar player and quality teacher....nuts and bolts, not alot of blathering 🔝
Appreciate that. Thanks Cary!
This is sick!
Steve's take on the "Jet to Jet" solo (Alcatrazz) has some tasty parts.
Hell yeah! So many too choose from we obvs gonna need a part two killer stuff bro 🔥🤘
@5:25….that lick is the bane of my existence…I can’t get it up to speed…it keeps me from playing the entire solo to big trouble!!!!
0:40 such a good riff, I heard it used in a vicious rumors song(can you hear it), almost note for note.
CAMERON YOU ARE IMMENSELY VALUABLE TO THE GUITAR COMMUNITY!!!
Thanks a lot! Just want to show people what I learn and what makes me happy on guitar.
His Jack Butler era is by far my favorite Steve Vai.
More Vai always ❤
Damn Good!
Awesome tutorial Cam! Amen on the fretboard gunk! I’m constantly cleaning mine🤣😂
Thanks!
Brilliant video Cameron
Great stuff! Thanks Cam 👍🏽😎
stealing them...then giving them right back haha. your on another level man!
Is this still through the little Yamaha amp?
OMG....the TONE!!!!!
Yep, listed my gear in the description
Awesome. Thanks a lot
I love watching this stuff ... and dreaming. My brain and fingers just don't work like that.
Cam…out of all the guitars, that yellow DK is your fav…its funny how one guitar “speaks” to you…btw, just picked up a sweet mij wolfgang…loving it….rock on bro😎
You never dissapoint Cam 🤘🏼😈🤘🏼
I remember clearing my fretboard in 1986.
i heard some george lynch in there too :) great video !
Thanks a lot! I can't escape George Lynch comments even when I'm doing an impression of someone else. I was never once inspired by his music although I think his stuff with Lynch Mob and Dokken was great
Spectacular lesson!!! Could you please next time do a lesson for the solo of Goin' Crqzy?
I may do, I know the solo
Ive never beena big steve vai guy, always EVH for me, but this stuff is real cool

Hi the solo of going crazy would be interesting.
We haven’t seen a video on Nuno Bettencourt on the channel, so it would be awesome if you did one!!
I've done a few, a while ago aha :)
@@CameronCooper Really?! I’ll have to check some out! Thanks for the heads up!
@@Imnotaloser69 I'll probably do another one but wanna learn more first
@@CameronCooper Cool! Nuno is such an awesome player. I saw Extreme in September front row and he was absolutely incredible.
Incredible! Thanks!!!
great lesson and great guitar..what Charvel model is it?
is that Charvel as light as the one ive got ? Mine is just under 7lbs.
Probably although never weighed mine. It's just super light
I love this tone! What's your setup?
Yamaha THR30II and that's it
Cam! Awesome! You'v been very generous with your (VH) settings on the Yamaha THR...would you mind sharing them for this stellar Vai sound?? 🙏🏻 THANKS!!
It's the same setting
Dude, you are a very highly kick butt accomplished lead n rhythm guitar player! Question: what kind of strings n guage do you use n why? Thanks from Michigan.
I use Elixir Optiweb 09-42 and 10-46. They feel good, sound great and last a really long time.
@@CameronCooper Wow, fast reply n as fast as your fingers move on your Charvel fret boards! Thank you so much for your time. You r my #1 favorite youtube ch. Love it!!👍🏽!
yeah :) awesome
What chemical do you use to clean your fretboard?
Either window cleaner or wood polish, usually something somebody would say is inappropriate.
What? Vai too!
He did my request 😃
I've had this planned for a bit but just saw your request. Glad I can help you out
@@CameronCooper then perfect timing thank again for the vid
Yeah we were gonna roast you if we saw dirt under the pickups 😅😂 Jk
Hi..can i request you to make a lesson for vai's intro/opening solo before vai play for the love of God song in g3 live 1996?
Pretty much everything you'd need to learn that is in this lesson.
@@CameronCooper thank you very much.. 👍
you know i can dig it,you R a superbad mo4 be kool
I like what I’m seeing so far
What was your first guitar??
And very good solo.🤘🏻
I'm also a guitarist. 🙂🤘🏻🖤
From Croatia....😀🇭🇷❤️
Squier Mini Strat
Great lesson!!!!

Do You Live in Guitar Store
Holy Crap Batman
You're Going To Need a Bigger Room Soon 🎸🎸
Please, make a video about the song from WHITESNAKE "Cheap 'n Nasty"...with Steve Vai on guitars!!! THANKS.
Great video! BTW, you missed 3 notes (D# E D#) in the slow version of Big Trouble.
Ahh well, at least I didn't miss it on the fast version or full solo cover aha
Right, sometimes it's easy to miss notes when playing slowly. I'm just mentioning it in case someone else is wondering why it doesn't match up when playing the part fast.@@CameronCooper
@@stereodelay6601 People wanting to learn this stuff are smart enough probably correct it anyway aha
@@CameronCooper Probably lol!
My first band was Finger Cheese
Any experience with a 7 string?
Yep
Wonder if he has a band or just in for vlog tuber 🤔
I have a band
i love you
Yup I'm stealing that shit

You don't play the big trouble lick the same way the second time when you slow it down . Otherwise, this is tremendous.
It's harder playing stuff slow, people don't understand 😂
🤣
This song is kindergarten stuff. And i quote Vai.
I don't disagree with him aha
Hi first
Come on, Cam...wash your hands before first before you play 😮
Hands are clean?
@@CameronCooper was just referring to the fretboard cleaning at the beginning...playfully, of course
But tetanus adds to the ambience.😐
1 million notes; 0 melody
😂

Thanks but why click on the video then? Surely it's better to focus on what you actually like...
