Rest in peace to Mike Enriquez, who was one of the jocks of WKC, and also one of its voice-overs in the late 80s. We will miss his on-air antics as Baby Michael.
Thank you Dante San. I've been looking forward for this one. 😊
I've been an avid listener of DWKC since the early 90's. I can even remember back then they had a bumper to the tune of the song Pilot Of The Airwaves that goes like this...
🎶 The pirate of the airwaves
Here's my request
You don't have to play it but i hope you do your best
I've been listening to your show on the radio
93.9 WKC 🎶
One of the many reasons why i listen to this radio station is that they often play my favorite OPM group Smokey Mountain's songs. 😃
Yep. I like Charlie Dore's this tune, which was also a big hit in Japan when I was a junior high student. And you seem like a friend to me.😁
Velims open space please COLOMBIAN GIlart 77777 africane 15 theer
pilot of the airwaves
that jingle lives rent free in my brain
Love the voice of Vilma Saya
Grabe nakaka miss! I remember nung college ako, fresh na fresh pa ang WKC, ang bilis maka contact. Nag request ako ng song WE ARE THE WORLD by USA for Africa, play agad. Hahaha.. sobrang nakaka miss talaga
Everybody has his own story about radios. Yes, because we were kids grown up with radios!
Popular ang Sony Walkman nung panahong yun Wala pang mp3 of that time priceless music ang kasaysayang nun
DJ pa siya noon si Mike Enriquez aka. Baby Michael back in the day on 93.9 WKC until 1995..
Ngayon as iFM, si DJ Aira Biñas aka. Mama Ai ang sikat na boses sa 93.9 iFM..
19:26~19:55 - Magnolia Ice Cream commercial (also heard on 92.3 DWFM)
19:56~20:26 - 7-Up commercial bearing a slogan "Feel so good!"
DWKC-FM 93.9 MHz (1985-present)

19:26 Magnolia Ice Cream Commercial 1988 also heard by DZRB Radyo Ng Bayan DZEC Radyo Ng Pamilya and 92.3 DWFM
Looks like it was Hillbilly Willy who voiced the sign-on notice. And the main DJ in the rest of the clip, I’m quite sure it’s Rudolph Rivera. Mike Enriquez (a.k.a. Baby Michael) would’ve also been the voice of one of the WKC stingers (the one that went “This is the number one pop music station in Metro Manila...” after Gary V’s song). And I definitely remember “The Count,” who would be a long-time fixture during the late-night hours - he would be later known, in his “normal” speaking voice, as Ray Mambo (and much later, Ray With An A during the “Live It Up!” era of the early 2000s). This was a WKC “tradition” every Independence Day, back in their “joke time”/Smile Radio format, that the whole day, all DJs would have their exclusively-Tagalog-speaking “alter egos”, and play OPM all day - I remember, in the ‘90s, the station would call this special “Araw Ng Kalayaan, Araw Ng Kalokohan.” That “joke time” format was really unique for its time back then...long before the likes of Love Radio, YES, and Barangay LS made it more popular in the mid-2000s.
I don't know how you got this but listen to it somewhat somehow brings me back memories given I've listen to this before - somewhat somehow. But that was nearly 30 years ago - If I were not mistaken.
Also, you do got the old-school 7-Up commercial that somewhat somehow I've watch it in TV before - if my memories serves me correct.
Da best FM radio station in Metro Manila back in the day as 93.9 WKC..
Ngayon as 93.9 iFM is more on Masa talaga (lalo na ang Emotions on I every Weekday afternoons tapos yung dating programa ni DJ Mama Ai or DJ Aira na Deep Truth it's very sexy voice pag hatinggabi)..
Mga musical scoring mg award winning Hollywood movie scores na ginagamit sa audio na yan
2:56 "(I've Had) The Time of My Life" by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes (from 1987 movie "Dirty Dancing")..
this tune still sounds good to me. But I like "She's like the wind" best from its soundtracks.
Sa RMN lang ang nakakagawa ng ganitong career as a radio personalies to become newscaster aka. DJ noon, news anchor sa TV ngayon!
* Mike Enriquez (DJ Baby Michael of 93.9 WKC) - from RMN (1985-1994) to GMA Network (1995-present).
* Rica Lazo (DJ Yummy Yumi of 93.9 iFM) - from RMN (2007-2015) to ABS-CBN (2015-present).
13:33 - "Maybe This Time" by Zsa Zsa Padilla (1988)..
The Radio Mindanao Network started their Metro Manila operations in 1962, when the RMN established DZHP 1130 kilocycles, which was under the auspices of the IBC-Philippine Herald-RMN Triumvirate that was led by the Inter-Island Broadcasting Corporation and the Philippine Herald newspaper. The RMN would later established their first and original RMN FM station, DXVM-FM 99.1, in 1974, which would be followed by DWKC-FM in 1975. The RMN's DWKC-FM broadcasted for 20 Hours from 5:00 A.M. to 1:00 A.M. of the following day before they commenced their 24/7 operations on July 1, 1990, 3 years after DZXL started their 24/7 operations, and was previously a Contemporary Hit Radio station under the 93.9 WKC, Smile Radio Manila, and 939 KCFM Brandings, before it became i-FM in 2002
1:31 - 93.9 WKC sign on/sign off notice voiced by Hillbilly Willy (until around 1996)..
93.9 WKC often played OPM hit songs almost everytime.
Sometime in late 1999, it became 93-9 KCFM: Live it up!
And that was the last time i listened to this radio station. All because of their Relax And Rewind Sunday program.
Then, if i'm mistaken in 2002, it became iFM 93.9 which caters pang masa format, similar to 101.9 FM of ABS-CBN (DWRR now MOR), 90.7 Love Radio and Yes FM 101.1 FM 😊
Yep nakikinig ko dyan wayback 1998 to 1999 ung slow flow ni vince g. Tapos naging jologs na nung nag i-fm
I miss the voice of Mike Enriquez during WKC era.
yes until now on dzbb .

@@dantesEW DJ Ng 93.9 IFM (DWKC-FM Current Branding)
Back then, siya lang ang nag-iisang babaeng DJ sa 93.9 WKC from 1987 until 1999, I believe she was DJ Vilma Saya.
Later nag-reformat ito noong November 23, 1999 as 939 KCFM.. Ang mga babaeng DJ noon ay tatlo pa lang sila noong time na iyan sina Delamar Arias, Peachy and DJ Auey..
Ngayon as 93.9 iFM, ang mga babaeng DJ ay tatlo pa rin sina DJ Nikka Dyosa, Julia Bareta (or Ate Julia) at DJ Mama Ai (or DJ Aira).
Meron pa iyan, as iFM maroon mga dating babaeng DJs sa station na ito noong early 2010s ay sina DJ Yummy Yumi (Ms. Rica Lazo) at DJ Kara Labingera (later as DJ Kara Karinyosa during Love Radio days at ngayon bilang Gandang Kara or Kara currently on 106.7 Energy FM).
Do you know what is the facebook page of Vilma Saya, or nasaan na sya ngayon?

@@dantesEW i was thought on that., and there was no mrt station there.

Yes, vinyls were still dominant those days, as CDs were available but not affordable.
Si Baby Mike ba yung DJ diyan?
Yes...
Sounds like Mike Enriquez.
Mas matino pa ito kumpara ngayon
