Because of your move @15:01 I didn't turn mine after adding oil. :):):) The shipper said it had 80ML inside. Total for my system is 7.4oz. So I added 4oz to the compressor and a half oz to the accumulator and condensor. I changed everything out.
I did this two yrs ago. I pulled a vacuum and recharged the system. Worked fine for a year when I discovered a leak in the condenser. Repeat. It maintains 40F at the center vent now. My root cause was a compressor clutch worn and the condenser leak from age/corrosion. I'm now at 290k miles and it still runs smooth.
My a/c worked great one day after work then I turned off my truck to run into the store and came outside and it doesn't work anymore any ideas what it could be?I don't see the clutch engaging....
You made that look so much harder than it is to get those up out of there all you have to do is swing that little bolt tab around the other side of the hose and move the hose little bit
I see why someone didn't bother with those two bolts on the front of the battery tray. I was actually able to remove both of mine and replace them. The trick is you have to remove the bracket the horns are connected to, not the actual horns. And if you remove the headlamp housing, you can feed an extension bar in there to remove and replace the bolts. It was actually pretty simple. I'm no genius, I discovered that by mistake. :):)
There's some shims behind the pulley itself. Pop that bad boy off, take a shim or 2 off, and that'll give you some extra life on the compressor. It gets rid of that play. The clutch will eventually wear down, however.
Instead of taking mine in to get a recharge, I went to Harbor Freight and bought a set of guages and a vacuum pump for $185 total. I'm sure the shop is going to charge a lot more than that. Especially when they wanted $180 to vacuum. So at least you get something out of the deal besides service.
If you still have it...try the STP ceramic in there after your oil change!. J have to do my compressor, and I'm glad i watched your video to make sure I change the accumulator. This Florida heat is disrespectful!
You shouldn't be putting that much oil in the compressor. The entire system has about 8 ounces, with about a couple in each component. You definitely shouldn't be putting more than 4 ozs in the compressor. Too much oil is as bad as too little oil in these systems.
Did you replace the orifice tube? On the older trailblazers it’s inside the fender by the airbox, on the 06 and newer trailblazers it’s supposed to be in the firewall in that line you disconnected and reconnected
I'm taking on the huge task of replacing everything. The accumulator, hoses hi and low, compressor and the condenser. Not all of the parts are in but do you think it will do any harm to get the compressor hooked up before hand? I want to get rid of that monstrous rattle grinding. Normally I wouldn't worry because I have two vehicles. But the other is having major electrical issues. So I kinda need to keep my Envoy sort of ready to go. Even if I can't turn on the A/C. It's cool enough now to do without it anyway.
Hey buddy so I just replaced my accumulator in my compressor and for some reason my compressor still isn’t kicking on it’s doing the same thing that I did before I replaced both of them I replaced the orifice tube do you have any other idea what it could be also I checked the relay did the latest on it it is getting power
Did you replace the A/C relay on the accumulator? Also, take the connector off the A/C relay and short it with a paper clip that should turn the compressor on. Check the voltage at the compressor also; it should be around 14 volts.
This may be a dumb question, but I’m replacing the condenser in my 04 trailblazer LS. Calls for an ounce of pag oil in the condenser. I have to vacuum the system before adding Freon. Will the vacuum pull out the oil I added or am I in the clear?
That lower bolt on the alternator as it backs out butts right into the FREAKING A?C LINE and stopps short of cominig out!!! WHY IS MY AC LINE PLACED SO DARN"D CLOSE TO THE BOLt!11 AND everyone else's is off to the side all convenient like??!~!
Mine bolt was too, total pita!! Was easier to get a crank on it with an open end wrench once I took the fan clutch and shroud out cuz I had to change the water pump anyway. Then also did the alternator, ac compressor and pulleys while everything was apart! 150,000 overhaul lol 😉
My new four seasons compressor for my 06 trailblazer states the compressor must be placed or held with the front seal down for 1 to 3 minutes to allow oil to coat the seal , if this isn’t done refrigerant may leak.
Hey there. Could you tell me how to check AC compressor out I getting power. But when I start 2005 chevy trailblazer lt I can see the Polly turning but not the AC clutch not turning at all when I turn AC on position. I'm calling from Houston TX Hope to hear from you real soon about this ok
Check the level of refrigerant. If it’s low, the clutch will not engage. Or check the pressure sensor by the accumulator. I have a video on that sensor.
anybody know where the wires actually supposed to go, i have a gmc envoy but the wires are leading into the fuse box and being powered on by the relay.
I’m surprised you didn’t power flush the lines and evaporator before putting a new accumulator and compressor in, that old compressor on its last leg probably put fine metal chips in the system and contaminated it, time will tell. PAG oil should not be used on o-rings. Mostly do to the fact they are your seal and you do not want them attracting moisture. This is one cause you see when two joints are locked up. It’s the corrosion caused by the PAG oil.
Invest ina milkwaukee electric ratchet! they make them in 1/4 inch and 3/8 drive!!! if u have 12v milwuakee products, youll have a battery already. tool alone is only $99 at home depot!!!
yeah, but what about the oil that he didn’t get out of the system? Everything that he didn’t drain out of the old compressor is still in there. Now has too much oil.
if it's broken yeah it should be replaced...do the accumulator too. metal shards from the compressor can get into the accumulator then will travel back to the new compressor and grenade it, if you don't
05 chevy Trailblazer lt. It need front end work. Do you or have video job on front work on Trailblazer 05. I would like to see some video. I'm calling from Houston TX
It needs to have a vacuum pulled on it with a machine before you put refrigerant in it, you just don’t stick a can of refrigerant in it after replacing the accumulator and compressor smh
Terrible place to put it these GM cars are terrible the trucks aren’t near as bad honestly to work on I like my brothers ram trucks you can take the whole radiator condenser and everything out faster than that idler and alternator lol
What have you lost in the engine bay? And don’t say “horsepower” 🤣
"Lost my mind" a couple of times!
Horsepower, *DANG IT!!!*
oh i know he lost the battery cover
We have a soft spot for the Fail-Blazer. ❤️
Fixed that whiny noise from the baring and the wife... nice
Nice find on that impact driver! Remember, half of all G.M. engineers graduated in the bottom half of their class!😁
Ha! 🤣

This guy had me dying with the compressor oil.
And the lost bolt.. 😂
Good video.
Failblazer! Lovin’ it! 26:28

Nice!

@@dustingilsrud2317 either it leaked the refrigerant or maybe the pressure sensor is out
Just did this for my niece! I lost that same bolt and found it in the same place!
That noise is from a 15 dollar bearing that is pretty easy to replace without taking the compressor off
Oh yeah? Send me a link for the bearing
Hey tell me more please!!!! Show me please!!!
Those deep sockets are a life saver also.
Well done, I'm going to be doing the same thing to my 2004 Ranier soon. Thanks for the video.
You made that look so much harder than it is to get those up out of there all you have to do is swing that little bolt tab around the other side of the hose and move the hose little bit
Doing this tonight. Excellent video and realistic.
Excellent step-by-step video! Too bad Otis didn't lend a paw.

I'm gonna have to do the same thing on my trailblazer, but for the time being I put a shorter belt on it till I can get it replaced.
Not a bad idea. I was thinking about doing the same. 😎👍
I got tired of listening to the squealing lol
What size belt did you put?
Where do you think all the refrigerant went that was in your system? Out into nature?
There's some shims behind the pulley itself. Pop that bad boy off, take a shim or 2 off, and that'll give you some extra life on the compressor. It gets rid of that play. The clutch will eventually wear down, however.
I'm glad mine leaked on it's own. I went to NTB to have it vacuumed and they wanted $180.
Thank you so much.
I saved so much time with your guide.
Great video!!! What would've made it a lot easier is removing the fan and shroud! Leaving the battery tray in place!!! But still a great video!!!!
8oz in the compressor??! alldata shows 3oz for compressor and total system capacity of 8oz is this system still working today?
Instead of taking mine in to get a recharge, I went to Harbor Freight and bought a set of guages and a vacuum pump for $185 total. I'm sure the shop is going to charge a lot more than that. Especially when they wanted $180 to vacuum. So at least you get something out of the deal besides service.

Make a video of ur build then
Rear ac always means more
15:01 I guess it was too excited to get into Silvester.
Did you replace the orifice tube? On the older trailblazers it’s inside the fender by the airbox, on the 06 and newer trailblazers it’s supposed to be in the firewall in that line you disconnected and reconnected
Thank you for making this video, I have a 2008 TB, this will come in handy! thanks!
👍
Believe me that In pack works wonders
I'm taking on the huge task of replacing everything. The accumulator, hoses hi and low, compressor and the condenser. You don’t need to remove the alternator…. The compressor will come out the bottom if you turn it just right!
Good to know. Thanks!
Hi, really? Can you explain a bit how to turn it right? thanks
That only works in 2WD. In 4WD you must go out the top and remove the alternator.
Hey buddy so I just replaced my accumulator in my compressor and for some reason my compressor still isn’t kicking on it’s doing the same thing that I did before I replaced both of them I replaced the orifice tube do you have any other idea what it could be also I checked the relay did the latest on it it is getting power

Now you just need to do a follow up on your "my axle isn't spinning"
👍 I done did: ua-cam.com/video/Lyn6Ga6-07w/v-deo.html
My new four seasons compressor for my 06 trailblazer states the compressor must be placed or held with the front seal down for 1 to 3 minutes to allow oil to coat the seal , if this isn’t done refrigerant may leak.
What ac port do you add the pag oil into? And what happens if you add it to both ports?
Hey there.

Great video super duper helpful...
little late but what did the noise exactly sound like?
Im curious as to why the Accumulator/drier needed to be changed ?
Why you didn't show how to fix the new extension valve?
I’m surprised you didn’t power flush the lines and evaporator before putting a new accumulator and compressor in, that old compressor on its last leg probably put fine metal chips in the system and contaminated it, time will tell. How much a compressor cost new or used or commercial
Thanks dude
U should have added only same smount of oil from old compressor u messed up buudy u overcharge with pag oil
No he didn’t, he put in a full bottle 8 ounces plus a little in the accumulator, his system takes 8.50 ounces with rear AC
yeah, but what about the oil that he didn’t get out of the system? Everything that he didn’t drain out of the old compressor is still in there. Now has too much oil.
what about the orifice tube?
Orifice tube?
My compressor is broken, do I need to change it along with the battery?
if it's broken yeah it should be replaced...do the accumulator too. metal shards from the compressor can get into the accumulator then will travel back to the new compressor and grenade it, if you don't
How many hours did the job take, if I may ask?
05 chevy Trailblazer lt. It need front end work. Do you or have video job on front work on Trailblazer 05. I would like to see some video. I'm calling from Houston TX
Much easier to remove compressor out from the bottom!!!
15:00 lmfaooo
where's the 2 parts i want to know if works!! .
You can’t just charge the system yourself with some of those cans from the parts store?
minute 15:01 made me laugh. lol
Think I just rather suffer with the heat
You're probably nowhere near Tucson,Arizona
If U Can Do All THAT... U can buy a can of R134 & Refill the system for $40!!! ; )
It needs to have a vacuum pulled on it with a machine before you put refrigerant in it, you just don’t stick a can of refrigerant in it after replacing the accumulator and compressor smh
HORRIBLE DISIGN FROM TRAILBLAZER/ENVOY, RIGHT?
Lol 04 failblaser
Terrible place to put it these GM cars are terrible the trucks aren’t near as bad honestly to work on I like my brothers ram trucks you can take the whole radiator condenser and everything out faster than that idler and alternator lol
Recover....
