It won’t make any financial sense and it won’t make an image you can’t make more easily with other film gear. But send the Minolta to a shop and get a CLA done.
There will be a time when you need to take that camera out and shoot a few rolls. I don’t know what that time is for you but the familiarity is so good for the soul. A healthy connection of the “now” with the “then” does something that feels good.
I finally did it with my first high school SLR. My only regret is I didn’t do it sooner.
Wishing you a healthy and happy New Year.
    Long time watcher, first comment.

Great introspective Matt! Photography definitely can be therapeutic and really an escape from the norm. Art to me counterbalances our deep rooted society of chasing money. It is refreshing and rewarding. Great video.

Great year end Matt! Keep healing, growing, and traveling your photographic journey. Love to have a quarterly joint with Molly and her perspectives. Also, your Jason Lee video still is one of my favorites. I would love to see you do more interviewing/discussing with fellow photographers. I could see you doing 4-6 interviews in the long form or moderate a panel. Hopefully, Leica or BH is listening. Happy New Years!

I have not been taking pictures lately, and I have been feeling anxious because I don't know what to do with my life. I studied psychology but I'm not motivated now to do that for the rest of my life. And I got sick and didn't go out of my house for a week, but now I think I should just take my cameras and go out in the city by myself, looking to feel inspired and connect these emotions to what I could see

Keep it up man. Been subbed since way back when you first did those Filson bag reviews, or probably even before Ted mentioned about you. I was surprised to discover we're the same age, and owned the M6 about the same time. I also have two kids of my own. I've since moved to France since 2016. You come out here, do let us know!

My son (1y10m) has been grabbing my cameras as soon as he sees it, but so far he prefers looking at the lens while he presses the shutter 😅 I'm waiting for the moment he understands how it actually works.. and hopefully he won't break any of the expensive ones til then.

I really Enjoy your channel. I am from Jackson, but now live in Washington DC area. It is nice to see home,,,, My question is How do you decide what photos go into a show, ie your upcoming show in Jackson at the Markay ... Also, do shows pay you anything, or do you have to pay them then hope you sell something?

Hi Matt, I wish I could drop everything in my business and just do photography in some similar manner as you do it. While it is a huge moneymaker, the stress in my life from this business is so much I'm about to the point I want to drop it all and who cares what my finances are. I only have one kid left at home who's a sophomore and when he graduates, I might just do that. In my free time I drive all over the country side taking photos of my hometown and nearby fields, valleys and mountains. I have phenomenal scenery around me as I live near Jackson Hole, The Tetons and Yellowstone. I have hundreds of photos and all I've done is post on Facebook and a few other contest like web pages. Other than local followers nobody in particular has seen my work. I've had a Squarespace account and page for about 5 years now and I have done nothing to it. I don't know what the point in me writing this is, other than I might just be venting or I might just be jealous that you live a life I would like to live. I think I need to ponder life more and find out what I really want out of it as I'm not getting any younger.

That's the response from the most asked question lately? Where do you make your money? And the answer is UA-cam ad sense and sponsorship.
I'm struggling to make it as a photographer in my small town. I have an ETSY shop that sells around $1K a year with around 25 sales. I live in a very busy touristy small town. I've had two local shows that weren't that successful, especially with all the work I put in. Printing, mounting and framing all of the work myself, on top of hanging the shows. I have local friends and a few business owners that think my work is special, but won't seem to support me enough to help in any way. I have a kiddo that we're helping get to college but I feel like a total failure at times whenever I think about my potential and the actual place that I'm at in this career. Photography is everything to me, so how do I break that cycle and get to the next step of getting in the mindset of actually becoming a successful photographer? Overcoming that feeling of doubt and wanting to quit every single day because of the feeling of not having the support I need in order to get to the next part of this journey.
    Love the channel Matt.

First of all what is the status of photography today? What demand do we see in times everybody has a camera on their phones and all the postings on social media. Too, somehow every topic has been shot in any way all over again. Photography is more about reproduction than creating these days.
