This is an incredible deal for the amount of music alone, not to mention they are colored vinyl, a beautiful booklet, a frameable poster and the packaging, which is gorgeous. As far as is it enough already on the greatest hits? Never! Not as long as they keep putting out remastered songs and gorgeous packages. Queen spans four generations now so putting out these greatest hits packages gets their music to another generation of listeners and everyone deserves the experience of real music, written and performed by real musicians. As long as there is a market for it, I appreciate that Queen continues to make it available to us.
Greatest Hits I and II were my introduction to the band, after watching and constantly rewatching the Freddie Tribute Concert with my dad. Now, my personal greatest hits of Queen would probably cover 1973-1980. There were a lots of gems after that, some good ones and a few that I don’t revisit. They are still the best band that ever was. ”Queen II” and ”Sheer Heart Attack”, both released in 1974 (how mad is that!!?), are still in my top 3, along with Bowie’s ”Ziggy Stardust” masterpiece...
About the Greatest Hits releases... There should simply always be the single Greatest Hits album releases plus sets like that Platinum Set available in my opinion. So after a few years, when this Platinum Edition's sold out, it's simply time to release new versions. Whether they need to _change_ anything about them or just add more copies... That's what the marketing department's for. :) For new fans, it's great when they have the option to buy a newly released set, and for older fans, things like the "Queen Forever" (not part of the Greatest Hits series, of course) were great because they actually contained new (old) stuff for us to listen to. So is it all too much? Nah, I'm perfectly okay with them re-releasing, remastering or regrouping that stuff. (As long as it's clear what fans are getting.)
I used to watch the old Queen VHS Greatest Flix I or II after coming from school. Mommy was a classical pianist and I began to play the piano when I was 5. After listening to Queen, I began to play the guitar and never looked back to the piano. I liked your video, cheers from Brazil. PS -I have all Queen cd's. I'll write about Brian's PhD thesis as soon as I can too. One last note: I think Queen attracts new generations because they not only created great music, but their albums were very eclectic. When you listen to Queen, Queen II or Sheer Heart Attack, you don't have a fixed style, but something eclectic and well crafted on every level. You find, on a single disc, great songs ranging from great pop (Killer Queen) to a powerful rock (Stone Cold Crazy). WHO else would put "Great King Rat" and "Jesus" on the same album? "Jesus" is a beautiful rock song, maybe the first gospel rock?
One of my favorite songs by Queen is Funny How Love Is. It can only be found on my favorite Queen Album Queen II. Do yourself a favor and just buy all their albums like I did in order of release to get the full experience. That said, I would indeed pay for a copy of this box set. It looks incredible. I would rather buy it from a record store, so I can examine it first rather than trusting Amazon to ship it or anything else to me. I'm old fashioned that way. I don't believe in anything I cannot touch, taste, smell, see or hear.
I completely agree about receiving vinyl in the post damaged . The amount of rare , brand new pre ordered vinyl I’ve had arrive damaged is unbelievable. It really subtracts from the excitement of it arriving. Most of it is due to careless packaging and not the Mail service.

Lovely unboxing. The box set looks stunning. Happy for you that you got it. And you're right, the image you recognized is actually connected to the movie Highlander because it's from the music video for the song Princes of the Universe. Would love to see you react to this Song. :)
11:41 The blue photograph from disc 5 was taken in November 1990. It's from the Innuendo promotional photo session, taken on the same day the Headlong video was shot. Simon Fowler is the photographer, and he explained why it looks stretched on an Instagram post two years ago, which I cannot link because if I do, UA-cam removes my comment lol
As someone mentioned in the comments: Please get the "Made In Heaven" album/cd...it's absolutely beautiful to listen to and really sad at the same time. -- Also the "Mr. Bad Guy", which "You don't Fool Me" is taken from. Are there too many releases? I don't have the answer, but somebody on my channel called Bri and Roger traitors, only out to make a buck...normally I erase such things, but I was anxious to see, if there would be a reaction from the other subs... Thank you for showing us this colorful collection. ☮☮Love, Peace and Joy
Great stuff Doe as ever. Two things you must do in your life very soon: 1) Watch Highlander - A cult classic and brilliantly entertaining couple of hours with an exceptional soundtrack by our boys. 2) Check out George Michael absolutely knocking Somebody To Love out of the park in one of the greatest live performances ever. Trust me, you´ll thank me for it.
I have the box set and print mine is 1319 thanks for doing the unboxing as mine is still sealed the print came separate half speed mastering improves the sound but takes up more space that is why they are all double lps
Great unboxing! The blue picture is from the innuendo cd booklet/vinyl insert. It is altered due to freddie's health, he looked quite thin and sick. The platinuim collection was originally released in 2000 on cd only, the "for the first time on vinyl" is kind of a strech, each of the 3 greatest hits were released on vinyl only not in one box. Greatest hits 3 is the hardest one to find on original vinyl so this might be a good purchase if you wana have it on this format. Looking forward to your next Queen reaction.
NIce but you should've retained the shrink wrap on the box. Just cut around the open end to access the LPs. The shrink in place with the sticker looks great while protecting the box
I did buy this. I have GH original and double red vinyl. I have GH2 original and repress. I also have GH3 original and now this is basically GH 1, 2 and 3 again! I’d say a stand alone GH3 will drop in the future. The booklet should have had the info that you get in GH1/2 and 3, but nothing!!!
A lot of fans hated GH3 and I can see why, it’s a mixed bag of Queen classics, Queen+, Freddie and Brian solo and some live tracks by Elton John and George Michael. While all the material is good in its own right, the pre Christmas 1999 release reeked of cash in. It’s a collectors piece really. Mixing band and solo became popular in the 90s, Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music, Sting and The Police compilations spring to mind. It’s not for purists but there’s a market for it! As a Queen fanatic and collector I bought the limited edition GH3 Vinyl LP back in the day. Did you notice any surface “Swooshing” on disc 3 (pink) of Platinum set? Mine is a little noisy in the quiet parts. I was also disappointed that there was no notes on the individual tracks like previous editions.
Just found your channel when looking for reviews on the Queen's Greatest Hits Vinyl boxset and your review as definitely sold me on getting it although I think I’ve missed out of the limited edition print well and truly but the price has come down a bit on Amazon which is definitely a good think. It also sounds as if you’ve listened to their older stuff and not so much of the later stuff ie Miracle and Innuendo albums which is what got me into loving Queen(probably my second favourite band after Pink Floyd) but definitely should do a reaction to “Invisible Man”. I also like your idea of not watching all their stuff in one go but over time. I might also have watched a few of your other videos so expect a few more comments elsewhere and I’ve also subscribed your channel.
Thanks for this great review and reaction unboxing. I think that it's an excellent collection, Doe. It's a pity about the slight damage on it though, but it is very slight indeed.
@@DoeDarling Yes, very much so, Doe, I'd love to have this collection. I have the standard Platinum Collection and many of the original albums. I think that this is a great collection for old fans and new ones alike, as for other greatest hits collections as long as they don't cover the all the same tracks it's fine, there are some collections like this from other artists which have the odd rare track on which makes them good for fans and collectors.
So jealous you got thissss! I remember how happy I was when I secured the Platinum CD collection of the greatest hits after my gold set (with 24k gold disks) was stolen. They vinyl looks amazing!!!
I just purchased the 1/2 speed Queen studio LPs Box set and the coloured vinyl there compliments this set nicely. The Beatles are my favourite band all time but Queen rate a top 10 band for me. An entertaining video and wishing you continued success with your channel. 😊
Please tell me where I could get this box set! I want to give myself a gift for my 80th birthday. I’ve been a Queen fan girl for over 50 years and I think I deserve to buy this beautiful collection for myself. I don’t get out much anymore and have been collecting Queen stuff to give me some food for my soul. Hope you can enlighten me. Love your content!
If you are a new Queen fan than it is a great boxset but for some maybe a bit expensive. If you are an older Queen fan than there is simply too much they come with. The "Forever" compilation was released due to some new material but like an unsatisfied Roger said himself, "it's just another compilation with only two new songs". I don't buy this one, I've already have the vinyl ones and glad to have the numbered "Greatest hits 3" in the original pressed cover sleeve. Congrats on your purchase.
Doe, Do yourself a favour and watch Highlander The Movie, and watch the Video Clip To Princes Of The Universe Afterwards.. Then it will all make sense...Hey .It's A Kind Of Magic....I will be purchasing this one in a couple of weeks, I have the Queen Studio Collection Coloured Vinyl Box Set and the Queen Rega Turntable to go with it ;-) Which Roger Taylor Kindly signed for me when I met him on the last tour ..that's a real Gem..
Hey Doe, disc 5 picture is from the Innuendo era photo sessions. Disc 6 picture is Princes of the Universe, and note the image is the wrong way around (poor effort from Queen / EMI).
If you have a copy Queen Platinum Collection (the triple CD box-set), then there's really no need for to buy any of the others as this represents fantastic value for money.
1st time that the Platinum Collection released on vinyl I believe, previously on cd when GH3 was released. The price is quite steep to be honest but to be expected as box sets normally are. Does look gorgeous though. Have got one on order from my local record shop (who’s kindly agreed to trade in my vinyl Gh & GH2) so I’m going to be a happy camper. Wouldn’t have bought it without trading, a separate released for GH3 would have been appreciated.
@@DoeDarling definitely! If you haven’t done so check out their album Made In Heaven, the last studio album released posthumously. Some of the tracks you didn’t recognise off GH3 are on it as well as a great Queenified version of Freddie’s solo single “I Was Born To Love You” well worth a listen/reaction.
queen always was my favorite band & of course still today next to some other artists, but freddie was a big fan of elvis, elvis is more a soulmate for me, but it's no wonder freddie was inspired by elvis.
I just recently, well the last couple years since the movie came out got much more into Queen then I ever had before. I watched the live aid performance maybe as many times as Remi Malik claimed to. Which was something like 1500 times . Ok well maybe I haven’t watched it that many yet . I’ve scour the Internet for any videos I could find of Queen live especially in the early 80s. I used to think David Lee Roth was the greatest front man of all time. I think I was wrong . I think Freddie is hands down the best . Diamond dave a close second .
Thank you for the info. Looked it up but I have to pass. The shipping from the UK puts it out of my reach. 😢 But maybe I could get it on the secondary market. You were very nice to respond. Thank you again.
Thank you again. Yes, I checked Amazon. Most offers are over $200+ used and quite scruffy, some, as high as $400. But I keep checking. In fact I got an email from Amazon today with a link…Yeah…$401.00. I can’t believe this band is still so popular after 50 years that their stuff has gotten so expensive. I thought I was a select few old school, 45 year, die hard Queen fans but DANG, young UA-cam reactors have discovered the band and my collecting is coming to an end. My son and his family bought me the Knucklebonz figure of Roger Taylor for my 80th birthday. 😍🥰 ❤️ Yeah, still crushing on him, white beard, little paunch, etc. But those blue eyes? They still give me jelly knees. Sorry. I do go on but I’m the only Queen fanatic in my circle and am subjected to eye rolls regularly when I start a sentence with, “do you know that Queen…” so please forgive me. Hugs
GOD bless you all🤎 The verse of the day comes from 1 Thessalonians 5:11 and it reads, “So encourage each other and build each other up just as you are already doing” Let’s make sure we do just that today!
That is a very good deal! It looks great. Im very keen to see the future reactions on the Songs that you haven't heard before. There are some very very good songs among that mix. I won't say anymore on where they come from but I will say that I think 'You don't fool me' is one of their coolest songs. Definitely a personal fave of mine. The majority of the songs released on the final vinyls were mostly released after Octobers 1991's Greatest hits II.
Hi Doe please please do a reaction to Heaven is for everyone. It a fantastic song. I do understand why you don't do the tribute concert. Princes of the universe is from the Magic album from the movie Highlander. I look forward to your next reaction video thanks for sharing
@@DoeDarling yes the film is good plus the Queen music in the background really helps the film. Actually Princes of the universe is always one of my top 20 Queen tracks. Your question on the greatest hits albums. I have all on cd. Not a collector of vinyl each to there own I suppose. Yes I am looking forward to this found track that's to be released in September.
I wish they would have toned it down and just go with the silver artwork and silver vinyl to go with it. Those covers and coloured vinyl look too much like a carnival to my taste. Don’t like it at all. There’s no cohesion in it.
I have this collection also andanged to get it for £80 new and sealed and it is quite astonishing the Vinyl quality amd beauty of it. However, what let's this boxset down is the rear of the box with each LP photo titled under ther word 'Disc'. They are not discs!. Do not understand why they included this word for an LP Collection version.
Having been a queen fan since 1985 when I was fifteen Queen have totally over done the greatist hits Greatist hits the first album Celebrated there first ten years Greatist hits two the following ten years Since then it's become silly Greatist hits three etc etc I would rather they bought out a new dvd of say live at earls Court Sorry to rambel on
Does Queen need to stop the GH? Absloute yes, they should focus in others stuff like Live concerts, antology, or unreleased songs, demos not the same album every year. 😔
Way too many greatest hits albums, unfortunately most of them contain the same songs as on the original greatest hits collection. No B sides or anything special that we haven't gotten before. New packaging, and funny colors shouldn't be a reason to keep duping your fans to spend $130 for songs we've heard over and over. If there isn't new material to release, then stop re selling this stuff!! I've been a queen fan for over 30 years, seen them 4 times (without freddie) So as a fan this new release is insulting.
I have the original release of Queen greatest hits on vinyl got it when it was released on cd remastered on vinyl then the 2 lp half speed mastered coloured vinyl the remastered cd with different cover only available on the Queen web site plus on cassette tape and four cassettes all coloured one for each member of the band and I also have the American release on vinyl and cd with different track listing to the British release I have the greatest hits 1 and 2 cd box set the 1 2 and 3 cd platinum cd box set also have greatest hits 1 and 2 on double video and 1 on dvd and 2 on dvd Queens greatest on cd and the hard back book cd edition greatest hits 3 on cd the Japanese cd greatest hits as voted my Japanese fans and finally Queen greatest hits live cd

Hugs
I know how u feel, me as a album collector also, it means a lot how much u spend
Saludos desde México city felicidades x tu buen gusto musical
Omg i like to have one
Calling All Girls was a single. I can’t recall it mentioning it so it must have been left off? It’s a good song too
You don't know "You don't fool me" and "Heaven for everyone" tracks???
One of the biggest hits from Queen finał phase, after Freddie passing.
GOD bless you all🤎 The verse of the day comes from 1 Thessalonians 5:11 and it reads, “So encourage each other and build each other up just as you are already doing”
Let’s make sure we do just that today!
I think yes they need to, beauty darling
So cool! I was 171/2000
nice!
The only reason to buy this is because of Greatest Hits 3. It would be nice to have a box of the multitrack recordings from The Magic Tour....
I do have that one on the (ever increasing lol) list, is the film highlander any good? have you seen it?
@@DoeDarling yes the film is good plus the Queen music in the background really helps the film.
Actually Princes of the universe is always one of my top 20 Queen tracks.
Your question on the greatest hits albums. I have all on cd. Not a collector of vinyl each to there own I suppose.
Yes I am looking forward to this found track that's to be released in September.
I wish they would have toned it down and just go with the silver artwork and silver vinyl to go with it.
Those covers and coloured vinyl look too much like a carnival to my taste. Don’t like it at all. There’s no cohesion in it.
you haven't seen the highlander movie, right get out now lol
I have this collection also andanged to get it for £80 new and sealed and it is quite astonishing the Vinyl quality amd beauty of it. However, what let's this boxset down is the rear of the box with each LP photo titled under ther word 'Disc'. They are not discs!. Do not understand why they included this word for an LP Collection version.
YES - There should be no more Queen "best of's."
As long as people like you keep buying it, the record company will keep repackaging it.
If you really love Queen, there has been only one box - the whole set silver box
Having been a queen fan since 1985 when I was fifteen
Queen have totally over done the greatist hits
Greatist hits the first album
Celebrated there first ten years
Greatist hits two the following ten years
Since then it's become silly
Greatist hits three etc etc
I would rather they bought out a new dvd of say live at earls Court
Sorry to rambel on
Hermosos vinilos, saludos desde Buenos Aires Argentina
¡Gracias!
@@DoeDarling 👍🏽😊👏🏽
Does Queen need to stop the GH? Absloute yes, they should focus in others stuff like Live concerts, antology, or unreleased songs, demos not the same album every year. 😔
Way too many greatest hits albums, unfortunately most of them contain the same songs as on the original greatest hits collection. No B sides or anything special that we haven't gotten before. New packaging, and funny colors shouldn't be a reason to keep duping your fans to spend $130 for songs we've heard over and over. If there isn't new material to release, then stop re selling this stuff!! I've been a queen fan for over 30 years, seen them 4 times (without freddie) So as a fan this new release is insulting.
how are you?! total insaen ! 😯
It IS a little confusing..... Which Greatest Hits is actually the GREATEST hits??? 0_0
But, there can NEVER be too much Queen & Freddie! ;D
The GREATEST of greatest diamond gold greatest hits out next lol

Does Queen Need To Stop With The Greatest Hits? Say that question very slowly and the answer will be NO THEY DON'T
They need to instead release unheard material like more studio outtakes...the multiple rereleases of their greatest hits feel like a cash grab
So why do they need to stop with greatest hits?
No You Are Crazy If You Think They Should Stop
фреди в балетных тапках, просто финн. окуеннененен
Contact the store, they will swap or send another unit....
Queen just have to stop period
nah
Have you seen Kiss hits albums, it is ridiculous...at least I like the vol 1-3, not the multiple albums of rehash of same songs...
Only the good die young is by Billy Joel.
Princes of the Universe is the theme to Highlander.
I am gay but you are so beautiful that I become straight
Eres una princesa muy linda
